Its official - The Weather Channel in Español will cease operations on December 31, 2024.

So Wolf is in New York in the former CNN This Morning studio. Erin Burnett is in Washington DC. It's interesting that they swapped cities. 

Wolf is anchoring with Erin Burnette at 12pm eastern today. I know he mentioned I believe in 2022 election that he would slim down election duties. Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper are the main prime time anchors going forward. They've been the main anchors for all big stories with panels in Washington and New York.

MSNBC's plans for Election Night:

On Nov. 5, MSNBC kicks off its Election Night coverage from the network’s home base in New York City. More than 25 anchors will take part in an array of reporting that spans cable, digital, and social media coverage. (All times Eastern.)

Starting at 6 p.m., Rachel Maddow leads the network’s primetime election coverage with the assistance of Nicolle Wallace, Ari Melber, Joy Reid, Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner, Lawrence O’Donnell, Stephanie Ruhle, and Jen Psaki.

As always, Steven Kornacki will be on Big Board duty for both NBC News and MSNBC. The national political correspondent will keep track of all the state-by-state results as they roll in. Serious Kornacki stans can also follow him via the Kornacki Cam, which streams on MSNBC.com, MSNBC on YouTube and Peacock, as well as social media platforms like TikTok and X, formerly Twitter.

Look for Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Claire McCaskill to provide additional contributions throughout the night. Meanwhile, additional analysis will come from a group that includes Rick Hasen, Matt Sanderson, John Fortier, Edward Foley, Nate Persily, Franita Tolson, and Michael Morse.

MSNBC is embedding five journalists apiece at the headquarters of both presidential campaigns. Peter Alexander, Yamiche Alcindor, Gabe Gutierrez, Natasha Korecki and Peter Nicholas will be with Vice President Kamala Harris, while Garrett Haake, Dasha Burns, Vaughn Hillyard, Matt Dixon and Henry Gomez are covering former President Donald Trump.

Back at the White House, look for Monica Alba, Mike Memoli, and Aaron Gilchrist to be covering news out of Washington, D.C. Another 100 correspondents will be spread out across the nation in such states as Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas, Nevada, and Nebraska.

Select MSNBC talent will also contribute analysis to MSNBC.com and the MSNBC app before, during and after Election Night.

CNN's Plans for Election night:

CNN’s deep roster of anchors, correspondents, analysts, and commentators will be out in full force on Election Night. Look for coverage to span multiple platforms, including cable networks CNN and CNN International, as well as the CNN Max streaming service and CNN.com.

The main event begins on Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. with the launch of Election Night in America. (All times Eastern.) Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper will be co-anchoring coverage from New York City and Washington, D.C. respectively.

Joining the duo are Dana Bash, Erin Burnett, Audie Cornish, and Chris Wallace with additional commentary and analysis. Naturally, John King will once again be stationed at the Magic Wall, surveying the election results as numbers roll in from around the country.

Meanwhile, Pamela Brown is holding down the fort at the Voting Desk, where she’ll share turnout information. The Battleground Desk will be manned by David Chalian, who will keep his eyes on the latest exit polling results. Look for Laura Cotes to provide legal insight during the course of the evening, and Boris Sanchez to examine the down-ballot races.

Fresh off her ADWEEK Medaweek appearance, Abby Phillip will be stationed at the headquarters of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign alongside Jeff Zeleny. Meanwhile, Kaitlan Collins will—appropriately enough—be on the ground covering events from the campaign HQ for former President Donald Trump alongside Kristen Holmes.

Turning to CNN’s other platforms, CNN International will air the U.S. network’s election coverage starting at midnight on Nov. 5. CNN en Español has its own special election night coverage starting at 5 p.m. led Juan Carlos López and a panel of contributors. In addition, Gus Valdes and Ione Molinares are covering the Harris and Trump campaigns, respectively, while Maria Santana, Gonzalo Alvarado, Ana Maria Mejía, and Rafael Romo will report in from Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Charlotte and Atlanta.

Over on CNN.com, CNN’s Election Center will serve as the digital hub for election coverage and users of the CNN App can interact with their own version of King’s Magic Wall.

So, it is Weather Channel Live. No open or anything. But they have a live now bug on the bottom right corner. It is originating from The Lab. Chris Bruin and Felicia Combs are the meteorologists. Felicia posted on Facebook that she and Bruin will be there all week. Not sure if they are every week or if this will be a weekly revolving door of meteorologists during this block.

I'm excited they are expanding weather into primetime again and moving Weather Unfiltered there. I've always loved that show and it makes sense to move it to primetime.  One thing that does not make sense is AMHQ going into the afternoon. It is a morning show. They should just do The Weather Channel live or better yet bring back Weather Center: Live. We'll have to see on Monday what The Weather Channel Live will be and who is going to be the meteorologists. But the best news is we're getting more Live Weather Channel hours regularly for the first time in YEARS.

I wonder if WMAQ will have someone dedicated to covering health related stories again Lauren was the first one dedicated since Nesita Kwan left the station in 2015. 

WBBM debuted their VR studio today they are calling the weather sphere. Is this in their previous studio space?

After nearly 13 years with NBC 5, Lauren Petty announced on her Facebook page that tomorrow is her last day with the station. She is going to leave broadcasting and pursue a new adventure outside of broadcasting. 

Wolf announced during his edition of Newsroom at 11am EDT that Pamela Browns show will debut on Monday in that timeslot. 

Dana at the beginning of the show stated she is in Los Angeles.

Most of the NBC O&O's use the NBC chimes for the extended forecast now. KNSD must have just jumped on board. 

Doug Whitmire promoted from Assistant News Director to VP of News effective Aug 5. He replaces Jennifer Graves who retired a month ago.

Here are some more pics. I don't mind them. There is some depth to them now which reminds me of the HD era graphics (2008-2013) a bit. I was hoping for some new show opens to go with it. This is basically just a refresh.

I've been bouncing around watching weather coverage tonight and couldn't help but notice how out of her element Scott is when it comes to breaking/severe weather coverage. Jeanes (and Brant calling in from home) have lead WMAQ's coverage most of the night. The very few times they went to Scott, she added next to nothing. 

 100% agree with this. I actually watched WLS and WBBM more because of it. Brant and Pete are usually the ones that are in when these breaking weather events happen and they have excellent coverage. But with Scott it was a little lackluster. 

Chris Jansing lead coverage at 1AM on MSNBC when NBC signed off. 

Weather Unfiltered finally got some show headline intro and animation swipes. They basically are reusing Weather Undergrounds headline intro and just put Weather Unfiltered' s colors in it. The music is what weather underground used. 

Jennifer Gray, who is meteorologist Chris Warrens wife, started freelancing at TWC. She debuted May 11. She spent 10 years at CNN.

Kind of underwhelmed by the Weather Unfiltered change. No real graphics like they implemented with Storm Center or with what they had with Weather Underground. There's no intro or coming up graphics or anything for the new show. Only a logo swipe is visible. You can see the new logo here. Maybe something more will come soon.
