At least they have a VO for their open.
-
I still think its LA Groove. They used it for the close. The bumper is soft so I can't tell if it is and just a different cut or something else entirely.
-
Just to clarify that peacock variant is actually a transition as the L3 comes into view. It starts out colorful over the whole L3 then shrinks down to the bottom and transitions to 2 shades of blue and red for breaking news at the bottom. It doesn't stay that way. I was trying to capture the transition element although I really wouldn't mind seeing it like this.

Thank you for this!!

WMAQ Novocom - 2000 (cannot find the exact date they switched) Look A - August 15, 2005 Look F - February 28, 2012 Look N - June 28, 2016 Look S - June 21, 2021 NBC O&O's typically change their graphics every 4 years to coincide with the summer Olympic Games starting with Look C in 2008. Look A - 2005-2008; WMAQ 2005-2012 Look C - 2008-2012 Look D - WNBC - 2008-2012 Look E - KNSD - 2010-2012 Look F - 2012-2016 Look G - KXAS - 2012-2014? Look N- 2016-2021 Look S - 2021-Present Now some of these stations had different looks (WMAQ, WNBC, KXAS, KNSD) but since 2008 almost all have changed looks every 4 years, 5 with Look N due to the pandemic and the Olympics being moved to 2021. WMAQ did use look A the longest for 7 years.

Sooooo happy its not all red all the time. Very subtle. It would be nice if there was a yellow/orange variant for the morning.
-
WMAQ has updated its graphics as of their 4pm newscast. Below are a few screenshots. Surprised we're the first ones to change.
-
As of the 4pm newscast, NBC 5 has new graphics and updated music. Sounds like an update to the NBC O&O or different tracks. It's a little more upbeat. Graphics have similar elements of look N but everything is very flat. The bug is different. Animates between the NBC logo and the NBC 5. Seems to be a heavier emphasis on the NBC logo through out the graphics with the bug animation, transitions, and open. I've also noticed new lighting around the anchor desk. Now, if they could just get rid of that desk they'd have such an awesome look now. Attached are a few screen shots I took.
-
I think standing cheapens the look. They really need a new desk and rethink this whole standing thing especially for this being the #1 market. Other O&O's have much better desks.

ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
NBC 5 Chicago replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
I saw that same promo. That's the only time I've seen the new logo on air yet. -
KNBC - NBC 4 News (Los Angeles) Thread
NBC 5 Chicago replied to Roadrunner's topic in Los Angeles News
Like sister station WNBC, KNBC is adding a 30 min 7pm newscast anchored by Colleen Williams. From TVNewsCheck -
At first I thought it was AR. But the floor kind of gave that away then I became curious to where in the studio this actually could be. The only other big area they have in that studio is where the two green screens are but they cant get ride of those. I wonder if we'll ever get wide shots again tossing to sports or the toss from 4pm to 5pm. It would look cool with a nice background behind them.
-
So the past couple of days (haven't watched the news in a few weeks) I've noticed a new area where the anchors present and was kind of shocked. It looks like they got rid of their stand up area completely and put in almost floor to ceiling screens. It's way better than what they had previously. I found a video from Michelle Relerford's Facebook page from a couple of days ago that shows it not in use behind Patrick Fazzio. https://fb.watch/5CWcQP1K1b/ Also another video of the same area in the middle of April before the upgrade. https://fb.watch/5CWJZ_Cpam/ Now if they could just get a new desk their whole set would be completely upgraded from the 2012 debut.

KCBS 2/KCAL 9 - CBS Los Angeles News Thread
NBC 5 Chicago replied to Roadrunner's topic in Los Angeles News
Today KCBS accidentally aired a live zoom call during a local weather hit during CBS this morning. Here's Deadline's article regarding the incident. -
CBS 2 Hired Laura Bannon as the weekday morning meteorologist. She comes from WSMV in Nashville. https://www.facebook.com/LBannonWX/posts/5769627929717866 And Feder just posted. https://www.robertfeder.com/2021/03/16/napervilles-laura-bannon-headed-home-morning-weather-job-cbs-2/

Man the more days go on without WLS saying anything is just creating so much backlash on all social platforms. Mostly hate/insults for Cheryl. Granted we REALLY don't know what has happened and it isn't any of our business however all of this reporting sure is fueling this firestorm. You'd think the station at least would issue a statement since there has been so much backlash to try and set the record straight instead all of the silence is fueling more gossip/truth.
-
I agree. Mike Caplan deserves the spot. He's one of the cities best meteorologists. I've been watching a lot of Good Day the past couple weeks and he is indeed great on there. I love his love for the weather. It'll be interesting to see if they promote within or hire out. I noticed Kaitlin Cody wasn't on the 9am show but she's on at noon. So maybe she's doing the evening ones this week?
-
I saw it this morning. Kind of surprised since he's been there for awhile. Wonder who is going to fill the top spot. They only have 3 of them left. I haven't watched a lot of fox but I have recently been watching during the day. Is Mark on during the weekends?
-
Michelle Relerford just posted on facebook that she is the new morning anchor Monday-Friday from 4-5am starting in August. She will then do top story updates from 5-7am. Feder also provided more information on the change and to the weekend teams. I'm very curious why they moved Alex to weekends to solo anchor and have Zoraida anchor solo weekday mornings. I know Michele will be there but it seems like shes just providing top story updates, not co-anchoring. Interesting moves at NBC 5.
-
I've seen some inconsistencies with their social distancing on the set. Last night both Rob and Allison at 10pm were together at the desk which contradicts this article. In the morning, Alex is in the weather center while Zoraida is at the desk. Seems to be a little all over the place throughout the day.
-
A week or so ago I saw them do sports either right before or right after weather (cannot remember exactly) during the 9pm to do a special segment before the 10pm started. So they've moved sports around before.
-
Isn't it typically at the end of the first block before the first commercial break?
-
I wonder where in Chicago he is headed?
-
Of course they would butcher this. The bug and L3's are nice. But they are still using the opens and transitions from the previous package. I wish they would use the full version of this new package.

A 7PM newscast would not work at WMAQ or KXAS because that is when network programming starts. Chicago and DFW already have 6PM newscasts which is the 7PM equivalent to the east coast stations.
