Atlanta and Detroit’s cut-ins are produced out of KTVT, Seattle’s is produced from KPIX, and Tampa’s is from WBZ.Did production for WTOG's news move from Dallas to Boston?
The hybrid national/local broadcast is not a new concept. In fact, CBS and Group W partnered on a very similar effort in the mid '90s called Day & Date, which had local cut-ins and national segments. The program started out news/topical, but later moved toward tabloid and entertainment. It aired in the afternoons leading into local stations' news blocks.

I agree that this is not indicative of a rebrand of the station, but potentially, a rebrand of its newscasts. You could, however, be correct in that this is simply a new, 10pm newscast that will simulcast on the OTT CBS News Boston and OTA on WSBK.

In perhaps a sign of wider things to come, WBZ/Boston is (yet again) launching a 10pm newscast airing on sister-station WSBK/Boston on July 18. It will be titled "CBS News Boston Now on TV38."
I've included a screenshot from the station's TitanTV program schedule.
Could this be a sign of a full rebrand from WBZ News? While it could certainly be part of the "hybrid, local-to-national multiplatform newscasts for several of the company’s CW, independent and MyNetwork TV-affiliated stations" that CBS Stations is launching, the branding is odd. If it's just going to air on TV38, why include the station's brand in the title?

Wow. From the Big Apple to the Big "D".
Interesting move here but why would she leave 'PIX for 'TVT?CBS' local news innovation lab will be based out of Dallas: https://variety.com/2022/biz/news/cbs-stations-texas-local-news-innovation-lab-1235151080/.
The greater exposure, I'm sure, was one reason for the move.

Perhaps unforeseen circumstances?

Is the heritage brand truly being de-emphasized? That's counter to Wendy McMahon's textbook marketing strategy when she was at both WCCO and WBZ.
I would agree, however, that the O&Os branding is very inconsistent; not just within the group, but even at the station-level.
I present the table below with no intent of making this a "list" thread, but to simply illustrate my point.

WBZ/Boston adopted the "Next Weather" brand beginning Monday as well.

Maybe not across all the O&O's. Quite a few NBC O&O's already use First Alert. I guess CBS could take it though.
IIRC, stations have to license the branding. Perhaps in cases where the NBC O&O has it already, the CBS will retain Storm Watch.

Eyewitness News now airs for three hours on Saturday mornings. They added another hour at 9a today. Sister stations KTVT and WFOR also added newscasts.
Looks like they just won't be airing the last hour of Dream Team anymore.
WBZ/Boston did the same.
The FCC relaxed E/I programming restrictions in the past couple of years. Stations are able to offload 1 hour of E/I programming to one of their digital channels, leaving only two hours required each week on the main program stream. It looks like ViacomCBS is now taking advantage.

WWJ newscast will fail they aren't going to compete with WJBK, WXYZ, WDIV, WWJ will be the dog of Detroit and not have much in the ratings.
I think the larger objective for CBS is to utilize Detroit as a "laboratory" of sorts to try out some new things. There's no risk of alienating an existing audience. It should be very interesting to watch the operation unfold.

Very interesting that Wheel & J CBS, NBC O&O's want Wheel & J I think it is about the money for Sony/CBS. I think ABC will keep the rights to both shows since it has been on ABC O&O's since they began in 83 & 84.
Weren't they on most CBS O&Os until the late '80s?

you'll see that Dan is coming from the Sunday Morning set. SOMETHING kept him from being on the main Evening News set.
The date in question was a Sunday. The Sunday Morning studio would have been staffed and ready for that day's broadcast.

I am surprised about that too. They usually don't show news on Christmas Morning. For example, in 2017, they aired The Spirit of Christmas at 5AM and Small Town Big Deal Christmas Across America at 6AM. I am not sure what they aired at 4:30 AM and 11:00 PM because I didn't see them on Internet Archive.
Where are you able to search for these on Internet Archive? I can't find the collection.

Jim Benneman anchored the CBS Evening News waaay better than Norah...
Was that his normal delivery last weekend? I had to turn it off after five minutes. He sounded out of breath.

CBSN is simulcasting CBSN Boston as we speak.
Kind of/sort of. Boston is producing the national broadcast.

After seeing a second CBS Evening News recording on my TiVo I did a look around and saw that most of the CBS O&Os rerun the Evening News overnight. Sounds like a ratings play.
NBC does the same thing.

WBZ has the new weather graphics, too.

Any word on timeline for the rollout?

A small part of Tom Bergeron's résumé: hosting WBZ's teenage discussion show Rap Around in 1988. The program continued to be on the air for another decade. Anyone knows who succeeded him as the host of the show?
I believe it was sports reporter Alice Cook.

A full broadcast of the CBS Evening News (March 9, 2005), when Dan Rather retired from the anchordesk. Includes the final segment of WBZ's 6pm newscast. Anyone knows the name of the anchor filling in for Jack and Lisa?
The anchor is Josh Binswanger.

Probably CBSN Local.

You put this here because of Stephen Arnold's Wall to Wall News.
PD: I didn't know that WQTV broadcasted baseball games. I imagined it as a smaller station.
WABU, which was owned by Boston University, had rights to the Sox after TV38 gave them up due to network obligations to UPN.

Yes, it was solely for unified branding.
