Nothing exposes the shortcomings of the pre-recorded CBS Weekend News more than its inability to report on breaking news...
Isn't it recorded at 5pm? We're not talking hours in advance.

Is the CBS Weekend News taped? Some of the show looks like it was done throughout the day
Yes it is. Although segments of the weekday broadcasts (on all the networks) are, too.

Hell, if push comes to shove and they don't have anyone in New York or LA to do an overnight break in (we see how ill-prepared CBS was for Muhammad Ali's death, having KCBS' Paul Magers anchor an impromptu special report)... is there anyone in the London bureau overnight?
How is that being "ill-prepared" if it is part of the plan?

Now it looks clunky and cartoonish.
I completely agree. I am never a fan of change for the sake of change -- which this seems.

If ABC did cancel The View they could move the time slot to the 9AM-10AM. I don't the affiliates would have a problem with it as long as they don't loose an hour of syndication (remember NBC cannibalized Passions so they could launch the fourth hour of Today which cleared almost every affiliate.) I think it will be successful as long as it's a continuos show because of the momentum GMA provides that I don't think syndication could offer.
The only problem I could see with this plan would be with Live with Kelly and Michael which airs primarily on ABC but also airs on at least 20 other affiliates. I would expect ABC would want Live to remain live on their affiliates but this would cause the non ABC affiliates to redo their schedules.
An even easier method to instituting "Good Afternoon America" would be to move "The Chew" to the "The View"'s time-slot.
11am ET/10am CT: The Chew
1pm ET/Noon CT: Good Afternoon America

Scott Fybush, a true expert in all things radio, reports that KYW (AM) will relocate to Spring Garden at KYW-TV in a renovated tv/radio newsroom. (http://www.fybush.com/site-extra-20131127/) by the middle of next year.
It's interesting that CBS is joining their newsrooms together once again. I believe since KDKA (AM) moved, WBZ (AM) and WBZ-TV are currently the only CBS television and news radio stations to share a newsroom. I would think it would make a little more sense to include WIP-FM and WPHT (AM) as well. Is there insufficient space at the new building?

Beautiful KPIX open used from 1988. Sadly, with budget cuts they went to a near cold open and dropped this animation in 1990.

The open is 6pm, but the clip cuts to the 11pm Nightcast broadcast.
This link is for setting a password with TVNT. What's the link for the video?

An article in today's TV Newsday (http://www.tvnewsday.com/articles/2007/04/15/daily.4/) encourages stations to embrace these YouTube clips by cleaning-up the video and sponsoring it.

I saw that WDVM "The Movies" open, but I'm not sure if it was WLVI or WBZ that aired this program. Anybody from Boston know?
It was 'BZ.
