  1. The news at 8 on WLNY appears to be a full, live hour of news.
  2. Kendis Gibson has been announced as anchor of the PIX11 News at 4 and 5pm. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/kendis-gibson-joins-wpix-new-york-news/
  3. WABC can move Kelly & Mark and The View to 7.2 Localish, but they do a terrible job at promoting that, so it is likely the average viewer may not find it. WCBS would move the network to WLNY. Even WNYW, has moved ratings grabber Sherri & Jennifer Hudson in their morning slots to MY9 in the past. Does WNBC even utilize COZI much as an overflow anymore? I'd be surprised if they did not show Today. It seems the HD feed is not carried anymore, at least on my system. Even with preseason football, they aired the repeated 8pm program overnight, and aired the two hour Dateline on COZI.
  4. On Sunday at 1pm, ABC is nationally televising WNBA coverage beginning with the NY Liberty. But, WABC is televising the Puerto Rican Day parade beginning at 12-noon. During tonight's 6pm news, they advertised the game will be on WWOR MY9. Interesting choice that they would give it to a FOX owned station when normally they give Monday Night Football to WPIX.
  5. You can surely make the case it should have been on their main channel, it did air on News12+ on cable.
  6. According to the TV listings, CBS News New York will air on WLNY from 7-8am.
  7. Yes, I experience the same audio issues. I have to raise the volume on the TV to hear the game, and when the commercials come on they're blasting! I agree about the video feed; it actually looks much sharper and clearer on Amazon than the YES telecast.
  8. In times of breaking news or severe weather, as has occurred this week, they usually run the full hour. I'm not sure if that's permanent or not, but I guess time will tell!
  9. WCBS has been very strong in times of breaking news and weather events. They did not hesitate to move UEFA to WLNY to take this afternoon's press conference. Lately, they have really been harnessing the power of their two broadcast outlets.
  10. WABC was the only local station that did not cover the 7pm press conference where officials released photos of the "person of interest." Heck, even WNYW broke away from Extra. I guess they did not want to upset the seniors by cutting away from Jeopardy, and since they are so reluctant to use Localish 7.2, I guess people wouldn't have been smart enough to find it.
  11. On my Optimum guide, it shows as a separate entity from 6:30 - 7:00, as PIX11 Evening News (stated above). WPIX has been using the 6:30 half hour lately for sports betting specials, baseball specials, and other programming than the syndicated programs that normally air. With baseball season approaching, I imagine they may use it as a "pregame" time slot, or another lead in to baseball.
  12. For the past few nights this week, the "WLNY News at 9" has had an open. The anchors tell what stories are coming up, weather, and sports and then the open for "CBS2 News at 9." The WLNY 10/55 bug is used during the newscast. I just find it weird that they really just produce at 30 minute newscast, and repeat it at 9:30, but I guess there's not that much viewership. Couldn't they just move it to 10pm to compete?
  13. New CBS New York website debuted today: https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/
  14. WWOR is also airing the one hour weekday edition, FOX Weather Sunrise from 10-11am eastern, and airs America's Weather Weekend from 10am-12noon on Saturday.
  15. WABC's coverage of breaking news has been lackluster lately. Even the police shooting, they broke away after Wheel of Fortune for less than a minute approaching the 8pm hour; NewsCopter 7 was never in the air that night. They seemed very short staffed that night, which is shocking for NYC where newsrooms should be prepared for breaking news. Even WNBC did break away from Dateline NBC for a few minutes to cover the mayor's remarks. WCBS and WNBC have had much better breaking news and weather coverage. As stupid as it may sound, I really think the hesitancy to utilize their alternate channels has to do with DVR recordings.
  16. I think this began on Monday, however the News at 9 is now back to using the WCBS graphics/production style with the WLNY 10/55 bug instead of the CBSN New York look. It's still odd there is no time and temperature and just a black bar under the bug. The actual newscast is 30 minutes with a repeat from 9:30-10. The open is just the CBS eye, general open.
  17. I guess it's a strange question, but with the way everyone on social media is asking, is Betty well loved/liked? Forgive me for saying, but I always found her dull for morning news and she did not compliment Dan very well, nor does she have a quick, wit type sense of humor during the lighter segments after 9am. If Dan is going to be the "face" of PIX11, he needs someone to better suit his personality. I would have liked to have seen Vanessa or Kirstin with him, but that's just me.
  18. Dan's IG states that Betty is going to be with John, 4:30-7am.
  19. Interesting that WNBC is picking up Thursday Night Football, tomorrow night's NFL Network telecast. Is the production still being produced by FOX? If so, odd that WNYW or WWOR did not take it. Also, they are airing the Brooklyn Nine Nine finale at 7, ahead of anyone else and moving Law & Order reruns to COZI, which is listed as being in HD, but lately the picture has been really grainy and fuzzy.
  20. News 12 New Jersey will be out of their main studio for a couple of weeks as it gets "torn apart and put back together." I didn't think their set was that old.
  21. Maurice and Kristine are back in the main studio for the 5pm newscast; they are 6' apart across the desk. Lonnie is still in the barn with the weather. The listings indicate the noon newscast is back on Wednesday, so I wonder if that holds now that the main studio is up and running again.
  22. Former WABC anchor Robb Hanrahan has suffered a massive heart attack. https://www.pennlive.com/news/2020/06/cbs21-anchor-robb-hanrahans-wife-thankful-for-prayers-provides-update-that-hes-still-on-life-support.html
  23. News12 NJ is available on most, if not all Comcast systems in the northern part of the state (Ocean, Monmouth and north), which is why I think it's odd they do not want to add it to southern NJ systems; Burlington County on south. I think News12 NJ is carried on Mercer County systems of Comcast, but that's always a fuzzy area: NY vs. Philadelphia. I think News12 NJ is really trying to position themselves very uniquely and this is the first step. The northern part of NJ sees NY news, while the southern part of NJ sees Philadelphia news, but neither really sees what is happening in NJ as a bigger picture. Yes, I'm really not sure how News12 can say exclusively on Optimum, just as NY1 says exclusively on Spectrum; neither of which is true anymore.
  24. News 12 New Jersey's morning show is now available on WACP-Channel 4 throughout south Jersey and the Philadelphia region. Interesting that Comcast will not add News 12 through south Jersey.
  25. News12 NJ has been doing their newscasts from the newsroom and alternate desk locations; are they getting a facelift? Something's keeping them out of their main studio since about Friday.
