After posting some vintage stuff from WYES and LPB over the years, jacky9br at long last finally got to the PBS affiliate I've been wanting to see from him:
-
Don't expect WABC to unveil a banner in their newsroom which reads "ABC7 Eyewitness News: The #1 News Team in America" anytime soon with "Sorry, WSB!" on the bottom; their ratings dominance in households and 25-54s speaks for itself (I think WNBC is tops in 18-49s, especially with "This Is Us" being a huge hit in primetime).

- 10am - Live With Kelly (might as well say 1 hour delay, even though its not a network show)
More like a two-hour delay (Live with Kelly goes out live at 9:00 am Eastern (which is 8:00 am Central), though it mostly airs at 9:00 am everywhere regardless of time zone).

Did you like Jodie for her looks or her good investigation stories? She clearly has done well in both areas, but she seem to come off with her hard shell.. 11Alive has some gals doing great investigation stories. Rebecca Lindstrom.
Both; I met her -- and Erica Byfield, who's now at WNBC -- once at the Atlanta Auto Show in 2015 and like I said on Twitter, she was extremely gorgeous in person.
As for her investigations? They were the only ones I've been watching on WSB, though she had been asking softball questions which seemed to turn off some viewers, which is why 11Alive w/Lindstrom (and Brendan Keefe) has been doing them a whole lot better than Channel 2 lately.
For many of Jodie's (male) fans, this is the second devastating loss to have hit Atlanta this year after the Falcons and the Super Bowl, though we do have plenty of company (i.e., eye candy). WRC should be lucky to have her.

Remember when I said that it'll be a sad day in Atlanta when the Julianne Moore/Jessica Chastain of investigative reporters, Jodie Fleischer, leaves WSB for bigger and better things?
Well...the time has come. (at least we still have some great lookers over at Fox 5!)
-
And back to Atlanta: Former Fox 5 anchor Karen Graham's newest venture
But news completely for the Deaf isn't new; remember PBS's "Deaf Mosaic" in the '80s and '90s?

Ugh...here we go again!
-
Amanda Davis and Paul Ossman, together again? Exactly what CBS 46 needs to fight off the newbies on Good Day Atlanta!

Remember when I said about Lisa Rayam possibly going to public broadcasting after all these years at Fox 5? Well...
http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2016/11/30/lisa-rayam-formerly-fox-5-joining-gpbs-lawmakers/
(Stephany Fisher, by the way, is still freelancing at The Washington Post; hopefully in time for February sweeps, we'll be seeing her back on the air, and at Fox 5)

Guess I was DEAD RIGHT all along about Gray acquiring KTVF/KFXF/KXD in the future after KTUU!!
Of course, it'll mean local news will finally be in HD with the return of a 10:00 pm news on KFXF; the late news will be live once again as well rather than taped (KTVF's was live for a time in the late '90s-early 2000's).

As a warm-up to November 8, JFK1963newsvideos has been posting classic election nights on YouTube, either partial or in their entirety; some of them:
CBS, 1960:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkDq-3FDdTE
NBC, 1972:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQiyt394Kmc
NBC, 1980 (when they declared Reagan the winner at 8:15 pm Eastern Time):
CNN, 1988:
NBC, 1996 (when they finally went with Republicans red and Democrats blue):
-
Erica's getting married and going to work for WNBC/ 4 New York.
And it'll be an even sadder day in Atlanta (at least for us guys) if Jodie Fleischer -- the Julianne Moore of investigative reporters -- decides to leave next.
-
The (mild) bloodbath continues at WAGA!!
First Lisa Rayam; then Gurvir Dhindsa, and now...Karen Graham is calling it quits on Good Day Atlanta (she announced it in sign language, though she's not deaf herself)! And this comes just as Alyse Eady has made herself home!
I wouldn't be surprised if Fox 5 still has Amanda Davis's number somewhere (maybe Russ Spencer); she was one of Good Day's first hosts in 1992. After all, WVUE's longtime 10:00 anchor John Snell has been demoted to mornings.

And during the '70s, cocaine would become the opium of newsrooms everywhere, especially in Los Angeles where Pat O'Brien was a reporter at KCBS (when they were still KNXT).
I would assume Atlanta was not immune to it as well, but the only two from that era who may remember it well are Richard Belcher (who was at WAGA at the time and until the mid-80s had a mustache like O'Brien and Geraldo Rivera) and John Pruitt.

WSB-TV continue the trends of it powerful domination by is corporate newsapaper ajc.
Judge Judy at 4pm beats Action News at 4pm.. Somebody call John & Monica out of retirement.
And Don Farmer, too!
Quite frankly...since I'm not a fan of WSB, its 4:00 newscast with Craig Lucie and ? (the ? will likely be weekend morning anchor Sophia Choi) is the only one worth watching of them all even though Judge Judy is kicking their ass (and rightfully so, since she's still the #1 syndicated show).
WSB and CTV National News in Canada have one thing in common: they're both too pompous and full of themselves, which explains why they're both #1.
-
Well...the year-long speculation that has had Atlanta on the edge of their seats is finally over.
Stephany Fisher just announced on her Facebook page that she's back on the job...as a freelancer for the Washington Post, though she'll stay put in Atlanta.
But I'm sure that soon enough, all those rumors about Fox 5 becoming her next TV home will become true.

KSHB's Justin Wilfon is moving to Atlanta, to be weekend anchor at WSB-TV.
http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/kansas-city-anchor-moving-to-atlanta/176010
And how many days now we've been going without any news regarding Stephany Fisher and Fox 5? Are they saving the big announcement till after the season premiere of "Empire" or something (Please, for the love of God, don't let it be "Channel 2 Action News at 4:00 with Craig Lucie and Stephany Fisher")?

More comings at WAGA/ FOX5
http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/7/27/fox-aka-the-firm-shaking-up-atlanta-anchors
You know...at a back-to-school event over the weekend, I sort of brought it up to Adam Klotz (one of Fox 5's weather guys, wish it was Joanne Feldman) about any significant hirings without saying Stephany Fisher's name; he has no idea about it himself!
At least I did congratulate him on their ratings success all throughout May, all while finally saying the words "Channel 2" to his breath.

Good news: A major job opening has been filled at WAGA!
Bad news: It's not Stephany Fisher (yet!), but Alyse Eady is coming from Little Rock to succeed Gurvir Dhindsa on Good Day Atlanta: http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2016/07/21/alyse-eady-takes-gurvir-dhindsas-spot-on-good-day-atlanta/
But I know very, very soon, Fox 5 will finally make the announcement all of Atlanta's been waiting for for a full year now.

On second thought, Carol Sbarge could be a strong contender to be Erin Coleman's replacement. I thought she was a long shot, but now I don't know. She's been on not only at noon this week, but also at 4, in addition to 6 and 11 today and Monday when Jovita Moore was absent. I think yesterday she was on at noon, 4,5,6 and 11. I would think if Wendy was a favored frontrunner she would be getting more airtime at the anchor desk wouldn't she? Wendy has only been on twice this week so far at 5pm today and Monday.
Maybe Sbarge should relinquish the noon news so she could do the 4:00; that way, we would once again have solo anchors at noon: Fred Blankenship on WSB, Kim Passoth on WGCL, and ? on WAGA.
-
Maybe Lisa Rayam, going to WSB
WHAT?! I can't envision Lisa Rayam on WSB; if anything else, her next move may be radio (V-103 could give her a show on Sunday afternoons opposite Monica Pearson's on Kiss 104).

Well, it looks like Erin Coleman is leaving WSB, according to a post on her Facebook page. She says with one young child and another on the way, she wanted to move back to her hometown in Philadelphia. One wonders if she's "moving closer to her world". Any speculation who her replacement may be? Now, I know there's been lots of talk about Stefany Fisher going to Fox 5, but this could be a viable opening for her as well.
No way in hell we'll see Stephany Fisher at WSB!
Speaking of which...it's been a full year now, and still, not a single peep from her on either Twitter or Facebook about possibly heading to Fox 5 (even after I tried dropping some hints including how she'll be more "dedicated, determined, dependable" than ever).
-
Sounds like it was preempted so they could make more ad revenue or offer make goods.
Big deal; WGCL on Friday preempted CBS primetime (which were all reruns, of course) for an even better film: "Awakenings" (followed by something called "Raw Travel" at 10:30)!
On two different Saturdays in 2014, it was CBS 46 who ran "Gran Torino" and "Rudy" in primetime. You should say that it was a throwback to their independent days (as WANX/WGNX), when they used to air movies nightly at 8:00 pm.

After 38 years of having every newscast ranked #1 in New Orleans, WWL has finally been dethroned. FOX 8 beat them at 10PM during May sweeps.
http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/new-orleans-station-suffers-first-ratings-loss-in-almost-40-years/171317
BUT...WWL remains undethroned in all other time slots.
