  1. After some googling, it may be KOKH preparing to be "sold" to Sinclair. They were part of the Imagicomm sale to Rincon. Figures that there is funny business between Rincon and Sinclair. Don't be fooled by the new graphics in in Springfield and Quincy/Kirksville, Rincon may as well be a shadow company run by Sinclair itself despite any "divestitures"....
  2. Since Albuquerque is the only market with stations that serve the entire state, why not "Fox New Mexico"? It's a good coverall since it's the only Fox station in the state. But somebody thought they had a good idea and had to be cool and stuff...
  3. Came across this from WDVM/WDCW in Washington DC.... For their "Living Local DMV" show, they have a sponsor called SJ Enterprises for one of their entertainment segments. It's run by a guy named Donald "Ski" Johnson....who has been a serial huckster/fraudster who attaches himself to celebrities he claims to be tight with, and then, at the last second..."oops...they can't make it, but you've got me instead!" taking people's money along the way. He also claims to be a hit artist. There was even an American Greed episode about it... Nexstar's gonna Nexstar...
  4. More on the Matt Devitt firing. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2026/1/25/wink-responds-to-anchor-firing While they may be justified with this evidence, it's going to be Matt Devitt having the last laugh. These digital weather services are the wave of the future.
  5. It seems the stations that still have the old package are stuck with it because of the old graphics systems. The weather graphics are different because it's a totally different platform. Same with the promo graphics package that marketing gets. You would have thought they would made a "GrayOne" package for the stations still on the old CG, but it looks like the package they're using is the one for the holdouts. Likely a purely business decision, since the systems haven't reached "retirement age" and that the day to replace them is still years away in a future capital expense...
  6. That's probably how Sinclair thinks. Grease the wheels so they can be allowed to buy up more stations again.
  7. Well, it looks like Panama City (and Dothan) no longer have 9pm newscasts on WPGX and WDFX. Lockwood and Nexstar must have nixed the arrangement. Big Bang Theory repeats are now on the schedule at 9pm on both stations. First of the year perhaps? This leaves WSFA's 9pm newscast being simulcast on WTVY 4.3 and WRGX 23.2.
  8. Another PBS station is dropping PBS. This time, it's BGSU's station WBGU in Bowling Green, Ohio. https://www.tvtechnology.com/business/wbgu-tv-in-ohio-to-drop-pbs-affiliation While located in the Toledo market, the area is also served by WGTE in Toledo. However, WBGU serves as the default station for the Lima market. They may need to start importing either WGTE, WPTD in Dayton, or even WFWA out of Fort Wayne or WOSU out of Columbus.
  9. Well, this instills some hope that Rincon is a separate entity. At least they're starting to run on the Cox/Imagicomm fumes instead of the Sinclair ones.
  10. Great... https://www.ispot.tv/ad/B9OY/keep-news-local-one-big-problem
  11. Founder and CEO/Chairman of Mediacom, Rocco Commisso has died at the age of 76. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/rocco-commisso-dead-acf-fiorentina-owner-mediacom-ceo-1236477063/
  12. I know voices change over time, usually with age. But with Paul Turner, his delivery has totally changed in the last 30 years. What was once a very serious and strong voice has evolved into an overly enthusiastic and over-the-top delivery no matter the subject. It's very apparent across his station clients (primarily the old West Virginia Media stations under Nexstar) and his Learfield Sports clients like Alabama. I know the adage for a voice client is to give the station what it wants (someone probably complained about his old-style of delivery) but the new style has seemed to stick. I guess it doesn't work for all of the sales tie-ins that have invaded local TV...
  13. Or like the 1st Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.... Otherwise, this station has been a dumpster fire, even under Meredith. Has Gray really cleaned up this place that much?
  14. Sinclair is back..... How long before Scripps tells them to pound sand again?
  15. Not to mention kissing the country music community's ass with all of their "specials". Rounding things off is CBS's commitment to the blue-haired crowd with all of the daytime and primetime game shows, and maybe Y&R and B&B.
  16. Sounds like the old "News With A Twist" that WGNO in New Orleans had that replaced their evening newscast until 2020. CBS News: Hold my fifth of whiskey...
  17. My view of SWFL is that of a very large Midwestern retiree population. Is that a correct assessment? And with that, a large number of them share the same "views" as the McBride's...well except when they fire the popular weather guy for a stupid reason.
  18. Meanwhile in Charleston-Huntington, it looks like they're getting ready to retire the longtime "Eyewitness News" brand. Promos on WCHS are now referring to "8 News" and I saw a new 8abc logo pop up on their sports segment. It seems like an odd transition but they're probably burning off the license fee on the Eyewitness News brand while brainwashing the staff not to say it anymore. "Fox 11" is being referred to as such for the time being. But "8 News?"..... Does Sinclair really want to rebrand their station the same as WOWK's "13 News" which has been going strong for well over 25 years?
  19. And while hoping for a better owner for the Cleveland Browns than Jimmy and Dee Haslam, reminds me what dirtbags the McBride family appears to be. (Mickey McBride was the original owner of the Cleveland Browns and his family owns WINK-TV)
  20. It's management like this that makes the upcoming WFTX merger that much worse. And one of the very few cases where a national owner would be an improvement.
  21. Once the remaining talent leaves WPMI....er WEAR 3.2 "NBC 15", they'll probably fully integrate into WEAR in Pensacola similar to WLNE. Kelly Foster, longtime meteorologist/anchor/reporter quietly left the station earlier this week. That leaves Darwin Singleton (who is rumored to be leaving this coming year), Andrea Ramey and chief Meteorologist Thomas Geboy working for "NBC 15". And then there were three.....(seems like a good time to rebrand to NBC 3....right?)
  22. While some newspapers are dying, a surviving one that used to be tied to a Columbus TV station is announcing a new partnership with a former rival. https://www.nbc4i.com/local-4-you/nbc4-columbus-dispatch-agreement/ Interesting in that the Dispatch properties in Columbus are now owned by Tegna (WBNS) and Gannett/USA Today (Columbus Dispatch) in what used to be the same company. But both 10TV and The Dispatch are shells of their former selves.
  23. I'd be loving the new CBS Evening News look if I was in a total vacuum and knew nothing about what Skydance and Bari Weiss have done to the place. They had a good thing with Scott Pelley. Too bad it was the old boys' club that messed that up. It's been a dumpster fire ever since. And that was before the latest chapter with Bari Weiss and Tony Dokoupil. The stunts he's pulled in the last few days are almost as up there as the shenanigans that got Megyn Kelly bounced from the Today Show. Someone check on the graves of Edward R. Murrow, William Paley and Walter Cronkite, because they are likely spinning at a furious pace right now. (Douglas Edwards as well, but he was cremated)
  24. Here's hoping Chris Ruddy and Newsmax kill this deal. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2026/1/5/newsmax-tries-blocking-nexstar It's one of the few (if not the only way) I'd ever agree with them. And even their delusion towards Nexstar as part of the "liberal media" when in fact Perry Sook and Nexstar is trying to be the next Fox News or NewsMax mogul, we're still better off with Tegna surviving another day as opposed to being swallowed up by Nexstar. Let the next suitor have their shot at Tegna, or just let them die off in the open market.
  25. I hope they're not stupid enough to dissolve the partnership with WPXI to supply news to FOX 53 WPGH. But Sinclair's gonna Sinclair so they can air their own garbage content over local news. We're coming to the 20 year mark of their 86-ing of the "News Central" model that stripped away some news departments, including WPGH's.
