  1. There are two people who I think are still around who could shed light on this: Arthur Greenwald, who was KD's promotion manager in the mid 80's and the father of "KD+You" Last seen as a contributor at TVNewsCheck.com; and Glenn Przyborski who helped create the KD+You image spots...
  2. A real find, posted a few days before Christmas... A celebration of the career of KDKA Television's legendary Bill Burns (Patti's Daddy) from 1983/1988....
  3. Cheezy indeed... But It wasn't just because Disney owned ABC that they used the Mouse in the video... You see, the controlling shareholder in Shamrock Broadcasting was Roy Disney.....Yes Walt's Brother.
  4. 'SMV did have the rights to Wheel and Jeopardy (and hometown fave Oprah!) I seem to recall that they aired Jeopardy middays, and Wheel at 5 PM (Or vice versa)
  5. By chance are they going to reanimate Dorothy Fuldheim, Bill Bonds, and/or Al Schottelkotte?
  6. Looking for the name of the Milwaukee vo talent, worked at WISN-TV for many years, then when 'ISN let him go (for Roger Thompson I believe) 'TMJ-TV picked him up for a short time.... An example of his work from the Classic Video Thread (H/T to Raymie)
  7. Nice find.... In my opinion, 'ISN's treatment of Jim Kirk's 'WWL News" was better than WWL's.
  8. What a find.... In my opinion, 'ISN's treatment of "the best things in life are on 4' was better than WWL's.
  9. Regarding Pride Inside, rather than the version that WBAL (and to a degree CHCH) used for the newscasts, I actually preferred what WTMJ did, which was a instrumental cut from the main promo package: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSasxrKbMmU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=cHvBmdB4hQc;list=PLPUVZMrfQlmxq8YvcKou0kY1i4aaOu2Eq and from NewsActive3. a nearly full newscast from this era:
  10. I was under the impression that the music was the CBS affiliates package for the one you described....
  11. Here's a hint of it.. Lets call it the 'All you need' package
  12. Which may actually go a little further back..... In the final years of ownership by the Buffalo Evening News (the Butler Family; WBEN AM-FM-TV), WBEN AM used the original 'YOU" package and may well have gotten "You II" for Channel 4 as an extra, which was retained when 'BEN TV became 'IVB. Fun Fact: The Butler Family sold the News to Warren Buffett/Berkshire Hathaway and the reason the 'BEN stations were sold off, Berkshire had a significant position in a pre-ABC Capital Cities (The WKBW stations).
  13. If you want the real old lighthouse, at the tail end of WEWS' 50th anniversary program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=uoMWjSK1uJg;m=53;s=45
  14. I think we can call this unnamed WTHR package "Proud to Call It Home" Here is the image spot: another image spot with then WTHR sports director Don Hein: and an open from this era:
  15. As an offshoot of Westinghouse acquiring CBS, In San Francisco, KCBS AM moved out of their home at Embarcadero Center to 855 Battery St, home of KPIX early in the 2000's.
  16. KnoxTV wrote: "I have never heard of the show, but it looks to me like this was a short news program that aired during the 1980s on all of Gannett's television stations including WLVI in Boston." Gannett may well have used these on their stations, but the Deathstar created "America Today" primarily for use on Public TV stations, one of which, the former WUCM-TV (nee WDCQ-TV) used it over their air, (I know I was a student at Delta College at that time).
  17. From TServo2049: "I know, it doesn't make any sense because WLAC was a CBS affiliate. But we don't know the actual origin of the music. It could have been a pre-existing piece that NBC affiliates took to in particular (a la Cool Hand Luke and ABC affiliates). Not sure we'll ever know the answer.." If someone could track down Chris Clark, he might know. (He was News Director/VP for News at Channel 5 for many of the years he also anchored there).
  18. The WDIV theme used in the TVbD piece was I believe the second series of shall we call it the "Go4It" news package. Part one was introduced during WDIV's coverage of the 1980 Republican National Convention in Detroit, and more fully implemented a month or two later. With the"Go4It" signature in both parts, I presume either Klein& did it, or someone else was commissioned by Klein& and WDIV.
  19. Here's a find: From 1988, coverage of the death of Pittsburgh Mayor Richard Caliguiri from KDKA Television's Eyewitness News. The Anchor? BILL BURNS [yt]sa7Diurnh20[/yt]
  20. And from WBNS 10TV Columbus, who did that Kick-ass image spot for the SuperBowl a few years back, what could be termed a 'follow-up' image promo, (available in 1080p HD) here: [yt]fjKNdHFC__M[/yt]
