  1.

As I listen to this reel, it makes me realize how big this find is. I do recognize "The Spirit of Joplin and 12 Together" because KODE-TV in Joplin was the one.

I did check the client list and I saw that WATE-TV in Knoxville used something from Peters. Hmm... It makes me wonder if they used a news theme or a promo piece from Peters.

  2. I recently came across some important information you may want to read. WROC's 1987 news theme, also used by KDKA in Pittsburgh, was composed by none other than John Sutton. This is according to a post by Ron Dylewski on the Rochester, NY News & Television Archive Facebook page.

He states: "But I was involved in doing WROC's theme in the 80's and it was not a Klein and Co thing as I recall, it was composed by John Sutton who did the "KD and You" theme for KDKA. The timing seems right. We went to Nashville and did an ROC version, struggling a bit with how to say "Rochester."

As I post this, here is another sample of the classic KDKA theme used on WROC in the late 1980s.

  3. Raymie, I checked the NMSA and it was also used by KJEO (now KGPE) in Fresno as the "KJEO 1993 News Theme".

EDIT: I did check both the "KJEO 1988 News Theme" and the "KJEO 1993 News Theme". Both of these themes had a 5-note signature which could be part of a package.

  4. More clips from the 1994 July/August Indiana/Illinois trip, plus a few leftovers from the Atlanta/Charlotte trip (earlier posts).

    Few Comments;

    - I totally disagree with WHBQ's slogan

    - KFVS had the same graphics back in 1987

    - I'm still a big fan of the Everyday News Package

Hey Jim! The news open compilations are great. I have a request: Do you have anymore newscasts or news opens from Knoxville? Would love to see some more.

  5. Get ready to feel "That Macon Spirit" with promos recorded from WGXA-TV 24, Macon's ABC affiliate, during the early 1980s.

More rare Macon television as WCWB-TV brings you a localized version of NBC's "Proud As A Peacock" promo campaign. An ID is included.

"Action News 2, Where You'll Be The First to Know". Here are three promos featuring the news team of John Pruitt and Monica Pearson (then Monica Kaufman).

  6. Here is a WWMT "Hello" promo recorded sometime in the 1990s. The promo features Florence Warner as she sings an updated version of "Hello West Michigan". You may remember her doing a promo from WEWS as she was seen on-camera doing a 30-second version of "Catch 5" in a promo. Hope you enjoy.

What about a choir version of WWMT's "Hello West Michigan"? We have that.

  7. I don't think this WTAJ news open has been shared. The news open is seen at 17:40 and is a custom version of the classic Tom Sellers "Action News" theme done by Frederick Morden.

Here is a WJHL news promo from 1985 with an unknown theme. Sounds like Tuesday Productions or Network Music?

How about more WJHL? This, to me, sounds like a TM Productions piece.

  8. A WOWT ID from 1982 using the tail end of the movie intro music from the Field Communications stations, leading into about 10 minutes of CBS Nightwatch.

Keep an eye on the uploader's channel. I have a hunch some rare Omaha goodies are about to come from it!

hmaxhanson, it's good that you shared this video. The WOWT "Action News 6" logo font was also used for WBIR's newscast logo during this period.

I did check the YouTube channel and have not seen any new videos. However, the cover picture is of three classic Omaha station logos (KMTV, WOWT and KETV) with the profile pic being a KPTM logo designed by Television by Design.

I have to agree with you, because I believe some rare Omaha news content is coming our way soon.
