BTW, Demetria is not on Good Morning TexasTexas.

Whichever WFAA morning show she is on, She's very popular with the black and Latino Millenials that I know in DFW.  They love her on there

As a millennial in the market, I don’t find her, or any of the selfie stars Tegna is running through there, relatable. I prefer news to be about the story, not about the person telling it.

I guess you're in the minority on those sentiments.  I know so many black Millenials in the DFW Metroplex that love her and her frankness about this world.  Many of them said she is the reason why they will stream the newscasts in the morning to hear her on the 9 AM show.  She has over a half-million followers on IG which has substantially grown since the time when she was a radio personality on KC heritage urban station KPRS/Hot 103 Jamz.  I believe it has more to do with (like Sharon Reed did in 2016) she took an older white viewer to task over giving a negative comment about her being a plus size black woman and wearing form-fitting dresses.

    I do. And i don't.

Why not?  She is very entertaining, young, and relatable to most Millenials in the market.

  4. Yeah, they have made cuts in the years past, but the station has just rehired former morning drive personality Frank Ski, former slow jams show host Joyce Littel, and former WHTA afternoon jock Emperor Sercy. All of those people have been added to the staff in the past 12 months alone.

The station carries the entire Atlanta radio station cluster alone on its revenue. DC urban sister station WPGC carries its radio cluster in a similar fashion as WVEE with revenue.

I remember reading that back when it was posted earlier this year. Les will have a major battle on his hands that he might not realize with the Redstones over the radio division.

  5. Radio, in Atlanta, Yes, I can see that, but V-103, NO! Staff too heavy, and CBS is getting out of radio I see more cuts @ V, I don't see that happening. I see her going to any of the (3) outlets in TV, or radio, PR. Idk, just speculating-

CBS has said they are thinking about getting out of radio, but that does not mean they are going to make cuts to WVEE. CBS allows the large staff for the station because WVEE is a major revenue maker for them. It's one of the highest revenue generating radio stations in the country. Les Moonves is behind the selling off the radio division notions, but the Redstones have not backed him on this.

Charlotte and Detroit are two completely opposite places. Charlotte is a burgeoning metropolis that has exploding growth while Detroit has been bleeding jobs and population for decades.

FOX bought WJZY because WCCB refused to sell out to them....so FOX stripped WCCB of their affiliation and ran with it after Capital Broadcasting was made an offer they couldn't refuse (and dodged a bullet in Raleigh too). Even with FIVE news operations (6 if you count TWC) and a dominant WSOC, there's the optimism and hope that keeps all 6 in operation.

WWJ was a last minute desperate move because no other station (including WADL) wanted CBS at the time. Their only option was to throw a large pile of money ($24 million) at a station that barely covered Detroit at the time. They tried, and failed numerous times trying to make it work. Therefore, CBS is doing the bare minimum to get its programming to Detroit viewers and entrusting this to another company is a risk that no sane company, and CBS iteslf is willing to take.

Atlanta was in a similar boat, but unlike Detroit, it's a growing place as well. WUPA was another insurance policy should the WGNX/WGCL deal have failed. They have more of a niche operation running a CW station there rather than have to deal with being trounced by WSB in the news ratings. This, and radio stations in a very large market is another way for CBS to make it work there.

Yes, this is very true with Atlanta. Although WUPA and the CBS Radio cluster are located in two different locations, they work for CBS here. Additionally, WVEE is the most dominant radio station in the Atlanta radio market (consistently #1 or #2 in the PPM ratings) along with being the most profitable urban contemporary radio stations in the nation right behind CHRurban sister station WPGC-FM in Washington DC.

  7.

Ratings and revenue make up the difference. WVTM is a distant fourth place station and WALA is usually in either first or second place most time periods with more market share.

It's that way because of Media General's cheap asses. The likelihood of it regaining prominence in the Birmingham market is imminent with the building of chaos ensuing with Sinclair's acquisition and slow marginalization of ABC 33/40.

  8. Let's see Birmingham's ABC affiliate, WBMA-LP/WJSU/WCFT, ABC 33/40, will be adding a 4 p.m. newscast hosted by long time veteran anchor, Pam Huff. The newscast starts Sept. 12th.

Columbus, GA's CBS affiliate, WRBL, will be relaunching its 5pm ET/4PM CT newscast with the same title, "News 3 First Edition" after cancelling it back in 2009 as a result of Media General's cheapness. I suppose the anchors will be current 6PM and 11PM anchors, Phil Scoggins and Theresa Whitaker, chief meteorologist Bob Jeswald, and sports anchor Stuart Webber. It's going up against WTVM's current newscast at the same time.
