Figured out that it was live. There were clues such as the live shots behind Tom's graphics, the time stamp on the radar loops, and the tease to sports featured Tom on the desk.

Good on Tom, I would have expected most weather people to pre-tape and not bother staying late.

Does Skilling pre-tape his weather if the 9:00 is delayed due to a Sports broadcast?

Maybe they installed Tribunes new equipment?

Tribune made their own newsroom software right? It's browser based?

EDIT: Found the info about Tribune's in house TV/newsroom/playout systems. Amazing how the stations are running off of essentially consumer grade PCs (there's probably an actual server or two somewhere in the mix).

Will they still have separate on-air staff for news and traffic from 4-6, or will they just have 1 person like before?

This is a much better arrangement than the tweak they did to their original opener. Hated the previous music cut that was much softer.

I'm going to predict either Gaynor or Cortney Hall to get the 4-6 AM anchor slot. Gaynor has been used as a fill-in anchor quite a bit as of late, and Cortney has been a 9 AM newsreader for a while now.

 

As for weather during the 4-6 AM news, maybe it'll be someone from CLTV like Tim McGill on a semi-permanent basis. I don't picture Paul starting at 4 AM, and I don't picture them hiring someone new, at least not right away.

Was there something about Erin Ivory that didn't work out in terms of her being the 4-6 AM anchor? I thought she got bumped back to traffic only because they needed to find a place for Lourdes.

Would WGN just put Erin back as anchor from 4-6, and have Konrad do weather from 4-10? (Unless he tells management to 'stick it')

Interesting developments happening at Global BC in Vancouver. Steve Darling and Randene Neill, both longtime anchors at the station and co-anchors of Global BC Morning News, are leaving within weeks of each other under different circumstances.

I was not expecting a) they would have the news ticker, b) they would be on the news set. I thought they would be in the other studio. Fun to watch so far.

Watched it over the weekend. They're in the studio now instead of the newsroom. Bionce Foxx is doing the traffic duties from (what I presume is) the CLTV traffic area. No humor bits, but I'm hoping they start doing those on the weekends as well.

Chemistry needs a bit of work. I am guessing that Sean has been used to anchoring that morning show solo, it would explain why at times it seemed that Sean forgot that Tonya was there and was talking only to Mike. On Sunday though, Sean and Tonya were starting to banter. Hoping these two hit it off, and become a solid C-team behind Dan/Lourdes (B) and Larry/Robin (A).

Global News in Canada has tweaked its news graphics this week. The biggest change, however, is the newscast names are out. No more Morning News/News Hour Final etc. It's now "Global News at (time)". The morning shows are now called "Global News Morning", except in Toronto where it is still called "The Morning Show". Global stations with hour-long newscasts at 6 PM have the long-winded "Global News Hour at 6" title.

Watch the morning news interview with Kaity and Brenda... It's great that PIX is doing this, I find it odd that they're touting this as "new" and "visionary". They've done a 6:30 newscast before. They've done a 6:30 newscast with Kaity Tong before. How is this supposed to be different other than having Brenda Blackmon anchoring with Kaity?
