As sad day for Tulsa television viewers. Former KTUL reporter Bill Mitchell, a 42-year veteran broadcaster, has passed away today after a long illness. He was 69. Mitchell retired from the ABC affiliate last November.

Tulsa TV Stations is reporting that KOKI's Chera Kimiko has left the FOX affiliate to join CBS affiliate KOTV. Kimiko was anchor at channel 23 since the station launched it's news department in 2002. She will co-anchor KOTV's 9pm newscast on sister station KQCW with Jennifer Loren on April 15.
Veteran KTUL reporter Bill Mitchell will retire from the station after 18 years at Tulsa's ABC affiliate on Dec. 14. Mitchell has been in the news business in Tulsa for 43 years.

Tulsa television has lost an icon tonight. KTUL-TV announced that legendary meteorologist Don Woods died this evening at the age of 84 due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Woods was the ABC affiliate's first meteorologist when the station signed on in 1954 and stayed at Channel 8 until he retired in 1989. Woods was best known for his beloved character "Gusty", who Woods drew every night during his forecasts. His work is currently displayed at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington.
