WPIX, WTKR/WGNT and WTVR have all been approved to keep their current graphics and music packages.

Good that both New York's Very Own and Impact aren't going anywhere on WPIX and WTKR/WGNT.  Can't picture the new Scripps graphics on those stations, including WTVR here in Richmond (but I can picture a news open for WTVR, though).

Speaking of WTVR: Really? I love y'all, but you're still keeping Moving Forward, a package you and now-former sister station WTTV brought back from the dead in 2015? Nothing against Moving Forward (it's a good package, though), but it's 12 years old and it's time for an update.

And the current WXIA logo is an absolute joke.  I don't get why they dumped their longtime logo for something unimaginative and ridiculous.  Surely they could've made something far better than that.

The current logo was created by a local company. https://matchstic.com/work/11-alive

Here's a video on their new "Where Atlanta Speaks" mission statement from earlier this year.

And guess who's leading the massacre at WXIN/WTTV?

DOMINIC MANCUSO! The same GM that brought the beauty that was "Cleveland 19" to WOIO.

All I have to say is: Good luck!

Mancuso used to be the GM at WIVB/WNLO, I think.

  4. Bumping up this thread:

Remember I said a while ago that Gray's WWBT is now using the graphics - currently used on WDBJ, WITN and others - and started using 615 Music's Sinclair News Package (the Curves version) on Sinclair's WRLH? Well, I took some pics from my phone and here they are (remember, WRLH doesn't stream their newscasts online). The weather graphics on both WWBT and WRLH, by the way, are currently used on WDTV 5 (CBS) in north-central West Virginia (Morgantown/Clarksburg/Fairmont/Weston). Plus, I forgot to mention the newscasts on WRLH began airing from WWBT's news set a few months ago before the graphics and music switch. Check them out, y'all.

(NOTE TO SELF: crop the pics)

"Wake Up [Insert Region]" is the TEGNA name for all of their new revamped morning shows. Wake Up West Texas - KIDY/KXVA; Wake Up Washington (now Get Up DC)- WUSA; WHAS11 Wake Up -- all TEGNA creations, with the same (general) graphics created by TEGNA creative.

WUSA currently uses Wake Up Washington for weekend mornings.

Meanwhile, Tegna and Fox announced a comprehensive, multi-year deal that renews station affiliation agreements for six Tegna markets last week, including three acquired from Nexstar. (via TVNewsCheck)

With this announcement, along with the impending launches of NBC in Presque Isle & Mankato, this will leave only the microscopic Alpena market, DMA 208, as the only market in America w/o an in market NBC station. I wonder whether WBKB can open a DT4 in order for the Peacock to have full USA coverage?

Are there any LP's laying around in Alpena that WBKB could look into to accommodate it?

    Alpena has WPBN/WTOM - aka "TV 7 & 4" - on cable (Spectrum).

  7. I mentioned this in the Gray graphics thread:  I'm watching the Fox News at 10 on WRLH - produced by WWBT - and they're now using the graphics package that are currently on WDBJ7, WITN and others. I'm not kidding. Gray Television graphics on a Sinclair station. Remember, WWBT has a news-share agreement with WRLH (it started in 1994). Also, Gari's Daily News package is out (FINALLY!!) and 615 Music's The Sinclair News Package (the Curves version) is in! Just a few months ago, WWBT began broadcasting WRLH's newscasts from its news set. Unfortunately, the 10pm and the morning newscast at 7am (Fox Richmond Morning News) doesn't stream on WRLH's website nor WWBT's.

  8. Another station has the new Gray package: WWBT here in Richmond. They're using the graphics that are currently on WMC, WLBT and others (personally, I wish WWBT would use the current graphics on WDBJ or the ones on WHSV). They've started using them on the evening newscasts last night (noticed that on the NewsON app). Music is still The Rock by Stephen Arnold Music, but Inergy continues to survive on sports and some segments.

UPDATE (10:07PM): Watching the Fox News at 10 on WRLH - produced by WWBT - and they're now using the graphics package that are currently on WDBJ7, WITN and others. Yes, Gray Television graphics on a Sinclair station. Remember, WWBT has a news-share agreement with WRLH (it started in 1994). Also, Gari's Daily News package is out and the Sinclair News Package (the Curves version) is in! Unfortunately, the 10pm and the morning newscast at 7am (Fox Richmond Morning News) doesn't stream on WRLH's website nor WWBT's.

  9. Meanwhile in DC, it's goodbye to "Off Script" and hello to the new interactive show called "The Q & A".

WUSA 9 debuted a new show tonight at 7pm. It's called "The Q & A" hosted by Bruce Johnson, Ariane Datil and Mike Wise.

EDIT (8:07p): It's on WUSA's section on the NewsOn apps in case you missed it.

  10. From the AJC: Rick Folbaum (formerly of Fox News, WFOR and CNN International) is joining WGCL as an evening anchor replacing the recently departed Thomas Roberts. He will handle the 4, 6, 9 (on sister station WPCH) and 11pm newscasts.

Last week, WGCL announced Tracye Hutchins was moving to afternoons and will co-anchor the 5pm show with a rotating set of hosts. Karyn Greer will take over mornings with Gurvir Dhindsa.

  11. To Long Island, NY: A promo for WLIG's (now WLNY) then-new newscast from 1985. The theme is a DeWolfe Music production track called "Newsweek" (the NMSA listed it as the "WLIG 1986 News Theme") . How did I know this, you ask? I was bored and I was just listening to some tracks from DeWolfe's site. WWBT here in Richmond, VA also used it in the early 1980s for their newscasts.

  12. Last Monday (June 3), Nashville's WTVF changed their profile picture on Facebook to include the rainbow flag in a show of support for Pride Month. But less than an hour, it was removed and went back to the old one after complaints from viewers online. WTVF, who has a long history of supporting the LGBT community and equality, airs Out & About Today (the station partnered with LGBT magazine Out & About Nashville) on their NewsChannel 5 Plus channel since 2005.
