  1. History will be made in Buffalo next month on WGRZ: TWO women will split the duties on the weekday evening newscasts! Maria Genero will do early evenings (5 to 6:30pm) while Heather Waldman will do the 10pm (on WUTV) and 11pm newscasts. They'll replace Kevin O'Connell who left the station earlier this month. Good for them!

(BTW, Richard Bland College is near my hometown of Petersburg)

Meanwhile, down I-64 East in Hampton Roads, WVEC meteorologist Iisha Scott announced she'll be exiting the station to join sister station WCNC in Charlotte.

  3. Apparently there was a carriage dispute between Spectrum and Raycom Media. WBTV posted a tweet 3 hours ago that a deal has been reached.

So did WWBT. Plus, I just learned a part of Central and Southside Virginia has Spectrum (for example: Sussex, Isle of Wight and Southampton counties)

...and also, I missed this news: there's another departure at WRIC. Anchor/reporter Amy Lacey left the station last week after 14 years.

  5. WFXR (Roanoke) sports anchor Jermaine Ferrell is leaving the station. He will be joining WRIC here in Richmond as weekend sports anchor.

Speaking of WRIC, evening anchor Christina Feerick will be leaving the station - and Richmond television - at the end of August. Before WRIC, she was on rival WWBT.

Oh, and speaking of WWBT: I forgot to mention that Anthony Antoine has joined the station recently as anchor/reporter. He comes from WCIA in Central Illinois (Champaign/Urbana/Springfield). He left WCIA last month.

  6. Let's get back on topic, shall we? Kayla Gaskins has joined WAVY as an anchor and reporter.

EDIT: She comes from WJHG in Panama City, FL

  10. It appears that Nexstar pulled its stations' live streaming from the NewsOn apps and WatchNewsOn.com. It was replaced with "Unfortunately, ____ is no longer available on NewsOn. For ____'s coverage on NewsOn, you can tune into ____." or "We're working to add another station in the area as soon as possible" or a black screen. The stations' logos were replaced by the NewsOn logo.

  11. Holy hell. It's worse than I thought.

    Such a hodgepodge.

I mentioned in the Nexstar thread that WIAT's been using the open since 2014 after the "WIAT 42" rebranding and the switch to 615 Music's Impact. I'm guessing WIAT has been using the blue graphics since last year although the lower thirds still remain the same. The only thing they used the WFLA graphics package is when they mention their mobile news or weather app during their newscasts. They're probably transitioning to the new ones very slowly.

  12. Which brings up an interesting, yet disappointing IMO, observation, why is it that Buzzr is in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, And Gainesville, but not Miami? Seriously? No Buzzr in a big city like Miami, while smaller cities get to enjoy it?

Dish Network has been carrying Buzzr on Channel 245 since last year.
