1. I guess O'Donnell wants the evening shift badly, I didn't realize that she was feared internally, that was very interesting to read: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6878059/Norah-ODonnell-brazenly-trying-seize-CBS-Evening-News-anchor-job-Jeff-Glor.html
2. I wonder if they plan to go back to the 3 anchor format if the changes occur, I did prefer that arrangement better than the 4 anchor format that they currently have. If Norah moves to evening and John moves to 60 Minutes, would Jeff Glor move to mornings by default? Does Bianna stay put? Or are they going to get someone who has more political gravitas like Jake Tapper or a big-name like Anderson Cooper or Bill Weir (who did subbed for a week back in 2017)? The article did reference Ann Curry, but it sounds like it stemmed from past discussions last year. I am glad that Gayle is getting a lot of praise these past few days, she is a very solid person for CBS This Morning, I just hope that they won't start going to do more celebrity gossip stories since the R. Kelly and Michael Jackson subject interviews exploded for them.
3. Happy for Bianna, but I was already accustomed to the three anchor lineup. Very random development, but is CBS News telling us something? Is The Talk toast? A third hour of CBS This Morning in the works? A weather guy? Anderson Cooper coming aboard for morning chats?
4. I agree, a one-hour show does not need 3 main anchors. Also, that desk they are using wasn’t built for that configuration, they tend to look too cramped together in there.
5. My question is, will the show seem bloated if all 6 on-air talent graced the screen for a one-hour version of the show? I understand they want to mimic the three anchor dynamic that they have on their weekday show, but it just seems too tacky on the weekend.
6. For me, GMA always feels like there's too many cooks in the kitchen. There's been so many adding and adjusting to the talent lineup, I'm no longer a regular viewer (moved to CBS This Morning) but it just feels like they tinker with the cast every several months trying to find the right chemistry. How I wish simpler times when there were just two main anchors, a news reader and weatherperson, those were the days. Life was so much better without Pop News, the daily home shopping segment and audience clapping.
7. Which is one of the problems facing broadcast televison. Do millennials care to watch live news when they can just learn everything on their smartphones on their own time?
8. Young, 30-somethings I'd say. The other two were female. I think all of them work(ed) at a Scripps station at the time they tested the presentation.
9. I keep forgetting to upload these, but I did a Scripps survey months ago, they were testing talent for a new version of The Now. EDIT: I can't upload the other files, somehow they are too big. Pretty much they were testing a couple other talent. Pretty much more greenscreen ala The List.
10. You never know, the legal guardians may have requested to speak with Strahan rather than someone with a higher journalistic caliber who would have challenged them. With the legal guardians' pro-guns stance unchanged since the incident, I'm would not surprised if they wanted someone to go easy on them.
11. Looks like that Will & Grace interview was awkward to at least one of the cast members: http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/debra-messing-regrets-megyn-kelly-today-appearance-1202574006/
12. First day for Megyn Kelly Today felt awkward and disjointed. The cast of Will & Grace didn't seem that engaged with her, and they looked squished sitting together on that tiny sofa. I'll forgive her for nerves and first day jitters, but she needs to be look more comfortable and smooth on camera. Nice set, but I think her audience drowns her out. They certainly need to work on a lot of things if they want this show to work. I'm still surprised after all these years that no one has been able to match or duplicate Oprah's quality for an informational talk show, I had thought that perhaps Megan would be the person -- but for now it's a work in progress. A major downgrade to Today's Take.
13. Just scroll down to the bottom on the article, seems like it had a decent first couple days: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/distribution/daily-mail-tv-page-six-tv-neck-and-neck-early-season/168783
14. Just purely speculation from my part, but it seems like The NOW will be misplaced in San Diego. I just saw a promo for Dateline yesterday, which will be airing at 3PM. On their website, their inactive RightThisMinute page has a header saying the show airs at 4PM: http://www.10news.com/entertainment/right-this-minute Wonder what's happening at KGTV.
15. 10News weekend mornings tend to be a little boring, and I'm not sure if I would blame the talent or the just the content and the flow of the show.... in the past I would usually flip it the Dan Plante and Dave Scott show on KUSI if I wanted to spike up my Sunday morning, but even that show changed talent recently. Glad to see Neda returning to television, but will miss Rielle. From this Twitter posting, perhaps we will see a brand new weekend morning team:
16. NBC will still air Sunday Night Football this fall, right? I'm guessing her newsmagazine will be premiering before/after football season or sometime before or after the Superbowl in 2018.
17. Exactly, if you work for CBS, you don't wanna mess with the Chen. She pretty much did the same thing on The Early Show, it was no coincidence that she was the constant during the majority of that show's run. Content wise, The View and The Talk are far different from each other. I prefer The View because they talk about current events and political affairs.
18. Exactly?!? What is up with that? Actually, Ive seen the monitor updated with the new pearl version of the ABC logo on the weekend newscast a little time ago, I think Preston Philips was still there, but somehow they reverted back to the older logo since then. Typical KGTV. Now what's up with this hiring freeze? The station has yet to hire a weekend anchor and weekend weather anchor person.
19. I'm a little relieved Candace is gone. She has gotten better over time, but you can really tell that she was out of her league when it came to political discussions. And I said it from the beginning, there was no way for her to stay long term since her family is on the other side of the country and Fuller House is taped in LA, it's quite a distance but I give her kudos to her for being able to juggle her career for the last year and a half. Raven's and Candace's exit were always part of this elaborate phasing out plan that was reported on the Daily Mail a few months ago. One can speculate that Paula is next though her role has become more of an alternate and she tends to show up when appropriate, like the day Tim Tebow showed up. Just like Candace, she hasn't really brought the right elements to the table and it has made for some jittery and awkward moments, she tries too hard to play devil's advocate and I don't really believe she really feels what she says. Sunny and Jedediah work so well with Sarah, Joy and Whoopi; it's a lineup that truly works and I kinda hope that Whoopi stays. I know she has said she is ready to move on, but it totally seems like she's enjoying herself more again after a few unstable seasons. If Whoopi does leave, I'd welcome Meredith back for sure but it also does feel like they are warming up the seat for Joy too as she is getting practice on Fridays and moderates After the View. After those two, I'm pretty much drawing a blank of other options on who would be a good moderator, I'm pretty sure the network would desire a household name or an A-lister for the fifth spot.
20. I would be surprised if she is there. Seems like Joy said she will be there along with Jed, Sara and Raven. Paula said she'll be part of ABC's election coverage. I'm guessing the fifth spot would go to Sunny or Candace.
21. Glad to see her back on a sitcom, she's so great in that medium. And then there were seven, though Paula has become more of an alternate and has said on Twitter that GMA is her primary job. Also, there's a promo announcing that The View will have a live election night special on Lifetime.
22. Yeah, it seemed like both Joy and Elisabeth were cut due to their political polarities that were deemed negative by focus groups. This was around the time The Talk was gaining traction and The View was sliding down in the ratings, so they decided to go fluffy for the next season, but that was obviously the wrong decision when they picked Jenny McCarthy. Barbara seemed to have a knack of making "real" reasons for why her co-hosts were leaving, especially when the media caught wind of it and she would deny what was being reported, such as the exit hoopla of Star Jones. Lisa Ling's reason of leaving was because she left to go on to host the National Geographic show on MSNBC, but I feel like she was forced out because of comments about September 11 and how that was deemed unpatriotic and un-American by focus groups and sponsors, this was around the same the Bill Maher was forced out from Politically Incorrect when he had stinging comments about September 11 as well. Joy pretty much told the public she wanted time off even though she was able to juggle her professional life pretty well and Elisabeth announced that she was going to leap into the Fox News fest even though she had limited news-journalistic experience, and her stint on Fox & Friends didn't last long. Next season, I wonder if they will give the moderator position to Joy, she performs with ease during After The View, but I wonder if the network and producers have other plans. I would love to see Meredith back, but I feel like NBC News has become her home, so I really doubt she'll go back to The View. Personally, I would be in the group that would like to see Rosie O back, but she'll most likely want to become the moderator of the show and have creative control, which created headaches a couple seasons ago. Deborah Roberts would be my safe bet since she already with ABC News and has done well as a guest co-host, I'd also add Juju Chang too as someone else who would seem good for The View. I personally believe in the media reports that Raven, Candace and Paula will eventually phased out sometime this season, it's way obvious that Sunny and Jedidiah will be sliding into their seats fulltime and they finally found the right panel chemistry, the discussions have been great this season when they are on with Sara, Joy and Whoopi.
23. It makes more sense now that CBS8 has been promoting Dan and Nichelle as the longest running morning anchorship team recently. A little surprising and a head scratcher for sure in this latest SD Newser development. NBC7 seems to have more stability than CW6 in terms of employment, so was he simply tired of waking up in the mornings? I like to root for underdogs, so I hope CW6 will improve for their news organization in all areas for the better, but their on-air product has been lacking and needs tinkering *AHEM stale graphics package*. Wonder if Greg Bledsoe is being lined up to take over mornings at NBC7 or someone totally new.
24. Just wondering if Jebediah Bila still fits into the equation for next season, she's been a frequent guest host and seems enthusiastic about being on the show on Twitter. Would love her to be on the show permanently, she actually has substantial things to say about politics and does well with other hot topics. As for the ladies leaving, they've been planting stories that Raven and Candace are going to concentrate with their acting careers. I liked Raven but the majority of the audience didn't it seems. Candace did get better after time but she still lacks the gravitas to debate the more dicey issues and I was always skeptical about her transcontinental travels long term as she's already busy as is with Fuller House and Hallmark movies. I do feel bad for Michelle, seems like she was shut down with the whole Nursegate controversy, seems like the network just honored what was left on her contract but planned to dump her anyways because of pressures from the show's advertisers, she wasn't given time to grow. In all of this, I'm surprised that the report is saying Paula is staying, the show can do better without her. Whoopi must have came to her senses, she's getting good money to host a chat fest, so why should she leave? Her temper has cooled down compared to last season as well. Joy has been the x-factor, she was supposed to be an alternate after Candace finished filming the first season of Fuller House but she showed her worth so I'm not surprised that she's had a nice homecoming. She should have never had left in the first place. Adding ABC Newsers Sonny and Sarah into the mix will certainly enhance their show. Hopefully the group will be more consistent, the playing of musical chairs the past three seasons needs to stop.
25. Haha That actually seems like a very realistic idea... "Oprah's Greatest Moments Countdown" on ABC, a reboot of "Merv Griffin's Crosswords by The New York Times" on CBS hosted by Paula Abdul, and a new hour of "Orange Room's Access Hollywood TODAY" on NBC recapping the latest/best celeb viral videos hosted by Billy Bush in Hollywood and in New York by already buzzed Kathie Lee and Hoda.
