1. That's awful if that's the main reason he got the ax on CBSEN. Doesn't his ratings play a big part at the end of the day though? More like sour grapes to me. I can understand if he got an "ok" from the new regime to talk about this, it's pretty much a PR thing to show that there is new blood at CBS.
2. I've felt that from Norah multiple times on-air, especially when she jabs John or clashes with Gayle. She does get very passioned about particular segments at times too. I enjoy both of them when they come on, they certainly bring something different to the table. Anthony has personality and experience while Tony seems to be a rising star at the news organization as a correspondent. Both tell good stories and both seem to work well with Gayle, this might actually be a good mix.
3. Just my personal observations on their dialogue between each other based on their diction and tone about the particular segments/packages they comment about at the roundtable, even sometimes during interviews when the anchors try to drive clashing moods or narratives and a hint of bickering goes on. It's not quite obvious, but you get a sense that there's more to what's happening off-air. I don't take notes of these particular occurrences nor do I care to elaborate, just watch and see I'd say for yourself.
4. Geez, could the interactions between King and O'Donnell on-air get more awkward than it already has been? I've personally felt like there has been subtle clashes happening for some time now between them two and between O'Donnell and Dickerson. With this now out, I'm thinking this could be popcorn viewing and will be entertaining to see what other subtle on-air jabs they will have for each other before the host changes happen, I'm thinking they'll have to act a little more fake between each other til then, it's going to be Ripa and Strahan 2016 all over again. I hope they don't go all pop-news in the future, that would be a major turn-off for me. The article seems to be on the same page as the Daily Mail article from a few weeks back that read that O'Donnell is difficult to work with and that the folks behind CBS Evening News rather work with Glor. I feel bad for Glor, nothing was really wrong with him, it's just the show should have gotten a more extensive retool if it were to compete with ABC and NBC. The show pretty much stayed on the same stream that the Pelly edition was on. Not sure if O'Donnell will draw people in at the helm. I guess this is a wait-and-see situation.
5. I guess O'Donnell wants the evening shift badly, I didn't realize that she was feared internally, that was very interesting to read: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6878059/Norah-ODonnell-brazenly-trying-seize-CBS-Evening-News-anchor-job-Jeff-Glor.html
6. I wonder if they plan to go back to the 3 anchor format if the changes occur, I did prefer that arrangement better than the 4 anchor format that they currently have. If Norah moves to evening and John moves to 60 Minutes, would Jeff Glor move to mornings by default? Does Bianna stay put? Or are they going to get someone who has more political gravitas like Jake Tapper or a big-name like Anderson Cooper or Bill Weir (who did subbed for a week back in 2017)? The article did reference Ann Curry, but it sounds like it stemmed from past discussions last year. I am glad that Gayle is getting a lot of praise these past few days, she is a very solid person for CBS This Morning, I just hope that they won't start going to do more celebrity gossip stories since the R. Kelly and Michael Jackson subject interviews exploded for them.
7. Happy for Bianna, but I was already accustomed to the three anchor lineup. Very random development, but is CBS News telling us something? Is The Talk toast? A third hour of CBS This Morning in the works? A weather guy? Anderson Cooper coming aboard for morning chats?
8. I agree, a one-hour show does not need 3 main anchors. Also, that desk they are using wasn’t built for that configuration, they tend to look too cramped together in there.
9. My question is, will the show seem bloated if all 6 on-air talent graced the screen for a one-hour version of the show? I understand they want to mimic the three anchor dynamic that they have on their weekday show, but it just seems too tacky on the weekend.
10. For me, GMA always feels like there's too many cooks in the kitchen. There's been so many adding and adjusting to the talent lineup, I'm no longer a regular viewer (moved to CBS This Morning) but it just feels like they tinker with the cast every several months trying to find the right chemistry. How I wish simpler times when there were just two main anchors, a news reader and weatherperson, those were the days. Life was so much better without Pop News, the daily home shopping segment and audience clapping.
11. Which is one of the problems facing broadcast televison. Do millennials care to watch live news when they can just learn everything on their smartphones on their own time?
12. Young, 30-somethings I'd say. The other two were female. I think all of them work(ed) at a Scripps station at the time they tested the presentation.
13. I keep forgetting to upload these, but I did a Scripps survey months ago, they were testing talent for a new version of The Now. EDIT: I can't upload the other files, somehow they are too big. Pretty much they were testing a couple other talent. Pretty much more greenscreen ala The List.
14. You never know, the legal guardians may have requested to speak with Strahan rather than someone with a higher journalistic caliber who would have challenged them. With the legal guardians' pro-guns stance unchanged since the incident, I'm would not surprised if they wanted someone to go easy on them.
15. Looks like that Will & Grace interview was awkward to at least one of the cast members: http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/debra-messing-regrets-megyn-kelly-today-appearance-1202574006/
16. First day for Megyn Kelly Today felt awkward and disjointed. The cast of Will & Grace didn't seem that engaged with her, and they looked squished sitting together on that tiny sofa. I'll forgive her for nerves and first day jitters, but she needs to be look more comfortable and smooth on camera. Nice set, but I think her audience drowns her out. They certainly need to work on a lot of things if they want this show to work. I'm still surprised after all these years that no one has been able to match or duplicate Oprah's quality for an informational talk show, I had thought that perhaps Megan would be the person -- but for now it's a work in progress. A major downgrade to Today's Take.
17. Just scroll down to the bottom on the article, seems like it had a decent first couple days: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/distribution/daily-mail-tv-page-six-tv-neck-and-neck-early-season/168783
18. Just purely speculation from my part, but it seems like The NOW will be misplaced in San Diego. I just saw a promo for Dateline yesterday, which will be airing at 3PM. On their website, their inactive RightThisMinute page has a header saying the show airs at 4PM: http://www.10news.com/entertainment/right-this-minute Wonder what's happening at KGTV.
19. 10News weekend mornings tend to be a little boring, and I'm not sure if I would blame the talent or the just the content and the flow of the show.... in the past I would usually flip it the Dan Plante and Dave Scott show on KUSI if I wanted to spike up my Sunday morning, but even that show changed talent recently. Glad to see Neda returning to television, but will miss Rielle. From this Twitter posting, perhaps we will see a brand new weekend morning team:
20. NBC will still air Sunday Night Football this fall, right? I'm guessing her newsmagazine will be premiering before/after football season or sometime before or after the Superbowl in 2018.
21. Exactly, if you work for CBS, you don't wanna mess with the Chen. She pretty much did the same thing on The Early Show, it was no coincidence that she was the constant during the majority of that show's run. Content wise, The View and The Talk are far different from each other. I prefer The View because they talk about current events and political affairs.
22. Exactly?!? What is up with that? Actually, Ive seen the monitor updated with the new pearl version of the ABC logo on the weekend newscast a little time ago, I think Preston Philips was still there, but somehow they reverted back to the older logo since then. Typical KGTV. Now what's up with this hiring freeze? The station has yet to hire a weekend anchor and weekend weather anchor person.
23. I'm a little relieved Candace is gone. She has gotten better over time, but you can really tell that she was out of her league when it came to political discussions. And I said it from the beginning, there was no way for her to stay long term since her family is on the other side of the country and Fuller House is taped in LA, it's quite a distance but I give her kudos to her for being able to juggle her career for the last year and a half. Raven's and Candace's exit were always part of this elaborate phasing out plan that was reported on the Daily Mail a few months ago. One can speculate that Paula is next though her role has become more of an alternate and she tends to show up when appropriate, like the day Tim Tebow showed up. Just like Candace, she hasn't really brought the right elements to the table and it has made for some jittery and awkward moments, she tries too hard to play devil's advocate and I don't really believe she really feels what she says. Sunny and Jedediah work so well with Sarah, Joy and Whoopi; it's a lineup that truly works and I kinda hope that Whoopi stays. I know she has said she is ready to move on, but it totally seems like she's enjoying herself more again after a few unstable seasons. If Whoopi does leave, I'd welcome Meredith back for sure but it also does feel like they are warming up the seat for Joy too as she is getting practice on Fridays and moderates After the View. After those two, I'm pretty much drawing a blank of other options on who would be a good moderator, I'm pretty sure the network would desire a household name or an A-lister for the fifth spot.
24. I would be surprised if she is there. Seems like Joy said she will be there along with Jed, Sara and Raven. Paula said she'll be part of ABC's election coverage. I'm guessing the fifth spot would go to Sunny or Candace.
25. Glad to see her back on a sitcom, she's so great in that medium. And then there were seven, though Paula has become more of an alternate and has said on Twitter that GMA is her primary job. Also, there's a promo announcing that The View will have a live election night special on Lifetime.
