Which brings me back to the previous question, what happened to that really nice set and studio WWOR had when they had news? Did they just completely gut the place? There's gotta be a reason why FOX chose to move WNYW to FNC instead of WWOR. I mean, FNC should have been an extreme last resort.

My9 was in Seacaucus NJ.. Fox News is in Manhattan like WNYW.. that would be easier to get to.. the real question is why did they have Shep Smith anchor as opposed to Dari and Steve

Im still in disbelief on how the whole thing was handled. No mention last night by the station on social media.. and they were updating their pages.. Shep Smith anchoring the 10.. Where were Steve and Dari? I would like to know what time the systems went down. I honestly feel like the building was evacuated and inspected and that's why they were off. For the record last night Shepard Smith said the whole motherboard went down (which makes sense.) It was definitely interesting!

What’s bizarre to me is that either one of Steve or Dari couldn’t head over to FNC and anchor from Shep’s studio? I found that bizarre.

They both seem to have very "cushy" contracts.. when it's football or the world series and the game runs late there is no newscast.. and by late I mean 11pm not 2am

Considering the reports of all the other problems during construction in the newsroom, and the strong letter sent yesterday by the union to station management about the conditions, I'm skeptical about the internet outage. If there was this issue, why was there weather and weather graphics during the 10 pm show? Something just doesn't make sense when you put the newsroom issues in the equation,. Fox5 newscasts are dated and tired, often PR sessions for Fox shows and unwatchable. I turned in for a few minutes last night out of curiosity and the product was significantly better than the regular product.

Weather was also at FNC building.. along with FNC weather graphics.. Traffic this morning just used cameras no maps.

Shepard Smith anchoring from FOX HQ tonight.. said computers "imploded" and thats why FOX5 is off the air. They are using FNC graphics and all.. with Fox 5 reporter live shots. I'm wondering if in reality it has to do with the construction issues

With all the news breaking this afternoon you'd think they would atleast simulcast the mothership or use an empty studio at broadcast out of that if there's a problem at the station

Alot of news going on today.. as of 5:02pm there is no newscast on Channel 5.. they are showing an episode of "Real Estate with Rosanna". Somethings up.

I'm almost 100% sure it's a stock image and not a live shot. I've seen them add CGI such as snow and rain during big weather. Also I'm pretty sure they may still be using a sunset image in the morning.

Except those 4:30 a.m. sports reports are mainly pre-recorded so she won't be "exhausted" as you may think.

True but the traffic reports are live. She does traffic. So she will in fact be exhausted

Last night on News12 Hudson Valley they used a report from i24 news. Even after the report they directed people to i24.tv for more information. I'm assuming they'll be talking about a merger or the new brand on air in the coming weeks.

I’m sure it will be a solo anchor like they used to have when they did a show in the 11am hour. If they are using someone from the morning show I bet it’s Jen Lahmers. I wonder if they will use Mike Woods or Samantha Augeri (or some combination) as the meteorologist.

 

EDIT: they could also move Ernie’s “show” to noon and replace it at 6 with hard news.

Moving Ernie's show would be a great idea.. I wouldnt want to see Jenn Lahmers go solo.. maybe with Suki like in the morning?

Chris Wragge filled in alongside Kristine tonight. Dana must have something in her contract that she doesn't fill in at 5.. weird thing is she worked last night (Easter Sunday) for Jessica Moore

I'd like to see Michelle Charlesworth finally get a weekday spot. I think she'd excel at 12noon with David Navarro and at 5 with Diana Williams.

100% agree. When she fills in with anyone she does great. I still think she should've gotten the morning spot but that's another story.

Yeah, Sade Baderinwa has not been on the 5pm broadcast for months since the injury. The 5pm is where Sade had originally started back in 2003 when she replaced Roz Abrams who left for WCBS.

 

When the substitute anchors introduce themselves, out of curiosity, do they say the following; "I'm Diana Williams, and I'm <First Name> <Last Name>, In for Sade Baderinwa" . The reason I ask this question, because if they say "In for Sade Baderinwa" that means that she still is officially the anchor for that broadcast, however if they no longer say that, then that means she is no longer the anchor and they are looking for someone else. I haven't seen a 5pm broadcast in a while so I can't confirm or say for sure if the sub-anchors say this key phrase.

They usually do mention it. But sometimes they don't. Hell, on WNBC sometimes they dont even introduce themselves.

She came back a few weeks ago.

 

Upon her return, she was only anchoring the 11pm. I'm not sure if she's back on at 5pm.

She's back on the 11 but not the 5. I would think it would be oppiset and she'd want to be out earlier but who knows the exact circumstances. It also seems like they maybe trying out different teams again. Especially at noon. Not saying it's anything to read into but you never do know.

Honestly I know the graphics were just changed, but they have to go. I'd like to see something more on the like of the package that KABC and KGO use. The music needs to change too. They've been using it for too long. They've been too complacent over the years.

Graphics yes.. music NO!! They should also spruce up the set a bit.. and use diff images as the backdrop.. preferably live shots

For a while there a few yrs ago it seemed like FOX5 was ready to compete. Now they've got nothing on but fluff and human interest stories. I'm sorry but I don't care about Lisa Evers and her show on hot 97. I don't care about their podcasts. I want the news. Atleast Good Day is worth watching still. Miss Greg but Rosanna and Lori are great.. Suki and Jen are good too. Just did the evenings and get a new set damn it. By the way Harry got canceled so may be if nothing new comes out they can put Ernies show on during the early afternoon or late morning and go back to the regular format at 6.
