  1. Chris Cato, evening anchor at WSPA (CBS) in Greenville, SC has been hired by WCAU as weekend evening co-anchor. He'll join Denise Nakano on the 6 and 11pm broadcasts. WMAQ chief meteorologist Brant Miller is returning to his roots...again. He's been hired by 94.7 WLS-FM is Chicago as morning drive host from 5-10am. He will maintain his NBC5 duties at 4:30, 5, 6 and 10pm. He tried this double-duty a few years ago with the same station in the same slot, but only lasted a little over a year. He was a DJ for WLS-AM back in the 70's and 80's. On a fun note, WGN sports director Dan Roan is featured in a new Adidas ad promoting the return of Derrick Rose to the Chicago Bulls. He's at the :03 and :38 second marks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtj-D8HT9BY
  2. Well, WMAQ's been using the "Storm Team" for awhile, now...but no "5" is tacked on the end. I think adding the channel number to it would really cheapen the brand.
  3. Geez, I don't know what they had before, but Billy Bush doesn't look happy about the new bug!
  4. ignore
  5. Hey...NORM!!!
  6. How are they together? If they do well together for a whole hour at 5, then they surely could work out for a half hour at 6 and/or 11.
  7. I this isn't about WNYW, but I have noticed a few modifications to WFLD's (Chicago) graphics in the last few days. However, these were only in promos and played off the glassy/shiny graphics exclusive to their 9 o'clock news. I must say though, the whole station group is a little overdue for a update.
  8. Dionne Miller, most recently of Fox Sports Ohio has joined WFLD (Fox Chicago) as weekend (Fri/Sat) sports anchor. She effectively succeeds Jill Carlson who departed the station almost a year and a half ago when she was passed over for the lead sports job. Freelancers Dan Jiggetts and Kerry Sayers have been filling the role ever since.
  9. Here's a doozy... A complete WBBM newscast from 1971. Check out a forty-something Harry Porterfield who looks like Lester Holt. Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4:
  10. WGN Morning News should have the studio audience
  11. I think ABC has been giving the affiliates that time since they've had that 2-hour "ESPN Sports Saturday" block. I know WLS has done a similar update in the year or two that they've aired the program.
  12. I actually looked him up for the heck of it... He served as ND/anchor at KITV in Honolulu for 22 years until his retirement in 2006. http://archives.star...ness/engle.html
  13. Before WLS had the 4pm news, they aired a half-hour broadcast at 4:30...the aptly-titled 4:30. By the way, I cannot express how truly awesome I think this theme is...
  14. "Kristyn Hartman, who began as a college intern at WBBM-Channel 2 and later came back to the CBS-owned station as a general assignment reporter, is leaving again. She’s expected to sign off in April, news director Jeff Kiernan announced Tuesday. No word yet on her next move. “There are certain things I want to get out of life, and I’m pursuing them,” Hartman told me. “We all come to these points in our careers where we have to make really tough decisions. I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity I’ve had here.” Hartman, who grew up in southwest suburban Hickory Hills and graduated from Northwestern University, rejoined CBS 2 in 2004 and served for a time as morning news anchor on weekdays and weekends. She previously worked at WCCB-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, and KTVK-TV in Phoenix." -Robert Feder (TimeOutChicago.com)
  15. I don't know, I'm not having a problem with it, but that could just be me. Try going to fuzzymemories.tv, go to the drop-down box in the top left corner and select 1990's...it should be the first ones there. Hope that helps!
  16. I never heard about this...a gunman at WLS in 1990. (Part 1, anchoring from the Sears Tower) http://www.fuzzymemo...ndex.php?c=3675 Included: Dick Johnson (20 year vet of WLS, reporter/anchor at WMAQ since 02/03), Sylvia Perez (currently WLS 11am anchor and health reporter), Chuck Goudie (currently investigative reporter, 6pm contributor), Joe Ahern (WLS GM [85-97], KGO [98-02], WBBM [02-08]) (Part 2) http://fuzzymemories...#videoclip-3676 Included: Rosanne Tellez (then WGN anchor, currently 11am anchor at WBBM), Robert Jordan (remains as WGN weekend anchor), Perez, Jim Rosenfield (later of WNBC and WCBS), Paul Meincke (remains as general assignment reporter at channel 7) (Part 3) http://fuzzymemories...#videoclip-3677
