And yet, those three stations you've mentioned as examples are still #1 in their markets and by longshots too.

Even WSAZ has been #1 for many years.  Under Lee Enterprise, Emmis and Gray.

Two Words...TRIBUNE CHRONICLE! (even if they're technically a Trumbull County newspaper)

I am shocked Ogden didn't step in to offer to buy or Gatehouse.  Ogden already owns Tribune Chronicle and also all 3 newspapers in Columbiana County.  Gatehouse would have been tited with Canton Repository, Alliance Review and The Dispatch.  Ogden also owns 7 springs, and the pirates. Overall this is truly a sad for the Youngstown and Mahoning Valley to loose the Vindy.

  4. I think one of the TVNT users with a YouTube channel and a capture card should try to record and upload the 43@50 half-hour special on their channel. It would seem like a good watch.

I can try to. I did set my DVR for it

  5. Without going into a list, WKYC has largely stayed away from any social-media drivel. Instead, they're traditional mainly because it's keeping WJW from being absolute #1 in Cleveland. Hell, it was Gannett that made WKYC relevant after NBC ran it as a basement-dweller from the 70s until 2000.

I agree WKYC has kept to itself staying away from social media style newscasts. I still the miss the customized open for the 7pm newscast which honestly I watch.
