I lived in the Wheeling Market in 2007 and WTRF was bad then at least they had Jim Forbes. I lived in Charleston-Huntington market for 2 years and WOWK is very professional just needs a new set.

Hopefully Nexstar will invest in the former WV Media stations. This Nexstar graphic grab was added when it started a time brokerage agreement with WV Media.

Mike LaPoint is moving on from WOWT, per the station official Facebook page. Also Dan Matics at Charleston-Huntington Sinclair 8/11 aka (WCHS/WVAH) is leaving the station. His last will be at the end of August, he is off to WTVT, per his Instagram page.

What is really odd out of all the WVMH stations WVNS uses Inergy and rest use Aerial. Finale is still used Decision Makers.

Nexstar has changed the name of the statewide newscast to West Virginia Tonight, prior name was Tonight Live until 2012. Prior to that was West Virginia Tonight Live. They have also started to air reports from WHAG

WKBN started the first 530pm newscast in early 90s. In 1998 they move to 5pm. WYTV added 5pm newscast in early 2000s displacing Judge Judy over to WFMJ. You are correct WFMJ has never had a 5pm newscast. They carried Maury at 5pm when it first debuted in 1992 then Oprah was on at 4pm. Then not sure what year they flipped it around.

All 3 start at 5am. WYTV has morning, 6pm and 11pm newscasts, the 530pm news was removed in Sept 2015. I could see Newswatch27 starting a 430am newscast. Whoops 27 first news. 4pm newscast in Youngstown market it could happen, if no more stronger syndicated programs are produced. WFMJ has a strong syndicated line-up, with Live, Judge Judy, Dr.Phil, Hot Bench and Ellen as a lead in to 6pm news. WFMJ is one the few stations to carry that many strong syndicated shows. If they had WOF and Jep they would have it made.
