Yeah really. All television programs take elements from one another and try to incorporate them into their broadcast which has happened since television began. I love this idea and to me it's add a fresh feel to the entire show.
TODAY was most certainly the first morning broadcast, but their current mix of news/lifestyle/entertainment is a copy of ABC. Which show was first to have a cooking segment or in studio fashion show? As well as incorporating a couch and coffee table in their program? And to be honest about the attached social media room, CBS would be the first of the big three to launch this. Their green room has photo booths and for guest to take photos and chit chat.
Social media editor Andrew Springer is claiming now that this had been in the works far before Today debuted their new spot. Guessing that whole issue of space came into play for the decision as he says the show contemplated setting up outside or upstairs.
One other thing about the new space I like that it combines elements of CBS This Morning and that NBC show, by combining social media and a place for guest to hang out before hitting the set. The space also fits the look and feel of Times Square. This instantly makes the show feel a bit fresher!
No doubt it's a copy of Today but the show has had plans on expanding the fan experience when visiting the studios for a long time but are severely limited by space. I do want to mention that I am growing really tired of Nancy Grace's segment with Dan Abrams. What spurs the decision to have her on some days and then not others? It was interesting when they introduced the segment 3 years ago but now it's just old, stale and lazy.
Liz Cho said on her twitter that the video wall malfunctioned 5 minutes till air time so they used plan B which apparently was the blue curtain until the wall came back up.
I didn't think I could like any Today Show duo more than Katie and Matt, but Meredith is just that good. They get along so well and it's enjoyable to watch them together. Yet I still can't stomach watching Lauer.
I love that GMA hired Sara Haines for the weekend program. I like Rachel Smith but more for an entertainment correspondent, where as Sara really shines on Weekend GMA witht the rest of the cast. Rachel is nice but always seem to cringe when she's filling in witht the weekday team because her presenting is just not authetic feeling.
I'm sure ABC is looking for a man to join Ginger on the Extreme Weather team. I think the boy girl ratio for the weather team is what ABC is looking to balance more so than the Weekend GMA personality bench.
I remember Chris from years ago on Fox and Friends weekend edition. He was married to Kiran Chetry and it was always hilarious when he was on the program with her!
My only real beef and problem with World News is not because I'm against the current format entirely but because I've always watched World News and enjoyed its style under Peter and Charlie. Diane was a disaster from the moment she took over. Her delivery makes me cringe. Also I miss the depth of the reports during the "Closer Look" segments and I the Persons of The Week is a true shame under Diane's guide.
Not sure why it bugs me so much but it just does but I don't understand why the same posters on this forum suggest that GMA exploits the anchors personal lives to fuel ratings. I'm surprised because I've never heard those claims against Today and the documentation of Katie's husbands death or Al's weight loss etc.
George contract runs through 2015, guess that article is similar to the one last week suggesting that Lara and Josh aren't speaking to Robin because they aren't happy with her new contract. Anything that's sells.
WMAQ-TV Chicago announced that KPRC-TV Houston anchor Daniella Guzman will join their morning news as co-anchor replacing Zoraida Sambolin, who left for a position on CNN's new morning show. Guzman will anchor alongside Rob Elgas and starts in March.
Guzman was a weekend anchor and reporter for KPRC since 2006.
Steve Chenevey, whose anchored WTTG morning newscast since 2003 is joining D.C. rival station WJLA as morning and noon anchor alongside Cynne Simpson.
