  1. Their 9pm in my opinion is incredibly solid and they have a great team in place (minus Lou Canellis; I can't stand that guy - I watch the 9pm newscast until 9:45 pm, Monday through Friday. It's the weekend that could use TLC and DiMaio would make a good addition.

  2. I think adding DiMaio back to 32 FT would continue the upward trend that WFLD is working towards, as they rebuild their talent and overall operations. They are on such a great track and another familiar face is what they need.

  3. Rick DiMaio made his re-appearance for the first time in a couple of years to fill in for Mark Strehl. If memory serves me correct, he hadn't filled in since like 2012? Since being dumped as Chief years back..

  4. Solid pick. I maintain that his time in the field over the last year has improved his delivery at the desk. It seemed like a given from when Rob he was hired, but I am sorry that Ravi's not getting it, too. We'll see how that goes.

    From the station: http://abc7chicago.com/careers/rob-elgas-promoted-to-anchor-abc-7-chicago-eyewitness-news-at-4-pm/1330510/

Good pick! It might be that Ravi is content with his current position. He might enjoy both the role of Anchor and Reporter. Just a thought.

  5. Like, as of it was 2 separate words? Otherwise, that just sounds like she emphasized the p on the first syllable.

Soo-pitch. She was likely decently close.

I saw a few minutes of her this morning, and was not hardly as bad as I expected.

I think maybe an emphasis on the P... She's not a seasoned veteran by any means, however, I suppose she's better than the awful Scott Schneider who subbed in the role until her arrival (he's also the 9 pm weekend anchor and a rising choice for Jeff's back-up)

  6. Is it coo-pitch?

It's spelt "Cupich" however most reporters pronounce it as "C-Pitch."

On second thought, I guess I can't really blame her for the mispronunciation because had it not been for the recent media w/ Cupich, I would probably botch it too.

  7. One of the people Audrina Bigos interviewed in the newsroom last night stumbled his words mid-conversation and muttered, live "Sorry, I f***ed up!"

She recovered quickly to try and cover it up but it made for a funny blooper.

  8. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't say I blame the bosses for this one. While Harry's career is historic, and deserving of respect, it sounds to me like management had been hinting at a forced retirement for awhile, giving him several opportunities to bow out. How many times do you drop a hint before you just have to pull the proverbial trigger? Harry has every right to be disappointed, but he should consider how lucky he was to last this long in both the business and in his quality of life. Dare I say, perhaps his age was becoming a liability, the station counted their blessings that he lasted 6 years, and dismissed him before they were -ahem- forced to make an anchor change. To be frank, Bill and Walter had it a lot worse when they got dumped, having to go through that cheesy send-off (one that Harry avoided by not showing up). Even if forced, I hope Harry enjoys the years he has left, and doesn't dwell on the few negatives of his career.

    Well put.

  9. Was thinking about this, do you think WFLD will end up becoming the modern CLTV but NOT 24 hours. I mean they dont have much more staff then CLTV sad to say. Also, does anybody know what the ratings are at CLTV compared to WFLD? I'm just curious thats all...
