  1. So much for KSHB being able to brand themselves as having KC's largest weather team...
  2. Many consider GMA to be filled with puff pieces and have a tabloid style, especially with their graphics, that doesn't come off as serious. In other words, one could argue that they've sacrificed hard news (and now apparently men) for lighter, softer news with an eccentric style in order to be/stay number one.
  3. interesting http://pagesix.com/2014/04/07/stephanopoulos-reportedly-upset-with-abcs-gma-direction/ While these things should always be taken with a grain of salt, it wouldn't surprise me if part of it was true. He says that "I’m proud of our continued success at ‘GMA,’ ‘This Week’ and ABC News, and I’m confident that will continue." While I don't doubt that, it doesn't mean that he's disappointed in the direction Good Morning America is heading. You can be proud that your team/organization has new-found success and is on top of the pack yet be disappointed in what it's done in order to get there and what it's doing to stay there.
  4. But weren't both of those packages done by Hothaus?
  5. This should probably go somewhere in the Chicago board but... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/jill-manuel-named-assistant-nd-at-wfld_b118172#disqus_thread She just left WEWS and some people have said that they delivered horrible ratings under her leadership, so what makes WFLD think that she can help to improve them?
  6. WTF was with that weather graphic at the start there? They were obviously trying to give the effect of circling the doppler, but it failed miserably. (it was already going to since the doppler is rectangular shaped)
  7. That's part of the point though, literally.
  8. Frankly the very idea of television stations having drones under their own power is off-putting to me. Also, especially given the opinion on drones in general as of late, how do you think your viewers would respond to knowing that one of their local television stations has a drone?
  9. KSHB debuted it too. About time. It's very nice...now they need to freaking upgrade their live stream.
  10. Very sad news out of Kansas City today, were KCTV5 reporter Sandra Olivas' mother was innocently killed in a police chase. http://www.kctv5.com/story/24751428/suspect-held-after-innocent-motorist-killed-in-police-chase
  11. What would Scripps' interest in these stations even be?
  12. It's happening again...! WTHR is expanding their morning news to 4am. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/wthr-expands-morning-newscast_b114401 I remember when KSHB attempted this. It failed miserably. I can't imagine that WTHR's morning crew will be too happy about this.
  13. KSHB sports anchor Frank Boal's son died this past Sunday...http://www.bottomlinecom.com/brett-boal-dies-at-age-27/
  14. Stacey Cameron has been let go at KCTV5. http://www.bottomlinecom.com/stacey-camerons-contract-not-renewed-at-kctv/ and the whole of Kansas City goes, "Who?"
  15. Wait, there two different version there. Is the bug that's featured still their official logo and the one they use on air? It looks sooo tacky as it always has with that white box behind it. The new solid blue 4 is a VAST improvement (although yes, they could maybe add some type of black or white outline to it)
  16. Don't forget Michelle Apon who left there to join KSHB as one their meteorologists.
  17. KMBC has hired Kisha Henry away from KOKH in Oklahoma City as a reporter/anchor. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/kisha-henry-headed-to-kmbc_b113014#disqus_thread KMBC is going so young and ridding of anybody that's old or has been there for years that it's ridiculous. Slowly pushing the knife into themselves further it seems.
  18. Wait a minute. Why does installing a new set totally prevent them from airing a newscast?
  19. Today could just do rid of the Orange Room period. Wasted studio space is what it is, really.
  20. 1) they're trying to give off the image of being "personal and connecting with the community" 2) probably just trying to give her more exposure. People seem to like Tamron Hall and she does occasionally sub on Today.
  21. I'm pretty sure it is. Bottomline was practically the only source for reliable Kansas City media news until he stopped...but of course the only thing he ever really talked about is KMBC. He even admitted that he glorified them because they "deserved it." Anywho, I really don't think I'll like that Neville kid. His youth is painfully obvious, but then again, so is Michelle Apon's.
  22. Meredith: Ugh... :bang: did you guys purposely do this so that we would have to invest in your station and maybe do some renovations  too? sigh...
  23. But how is it humiliation? THat's the first time I've ever heard of viewers being angry about something like this. Generally the reaction is shock and disappointment over the employee that participated in whatever deplorable or illegal act that they did that resulted in arrest; followed by praise for their station to cover it, as it "gave them a sense of transparency" and "proved that just because you're in television doesn't mean that you're above 'TV law of things.'"
  24. Well this is apparently happening in 2014: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/its-rise-to-shine-for-today_b209261#more-209261
