KSHB's morning meteorologist Brett Anthony is leaving the station to become the chief meteorologist at fellow Scripps station KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

WEWS and WCPO have also seen high amounts of job openings. If you ask me, it's proof that Scripps's stations are worse off than corporate either imagines or tries to make them out to be.

1 summer 2013 intern, anchor/mmj, digital account executive, director of new media, executive producer, investigative photographer, meteorologist, mmj, news producer, production technician I, web producer 2 sports reporter/anchor 4 account executive But given that this is KSHB, the station that took almost six months to find a replacement GM, ND and 6pm anchor, as well as around 4 months or so to find a new meteorologist, it wouldn't surprise me if all of these are real. They also just lost a sports man. I read (from a somewhat unreliable source) that their EP just got fired. Also, Brian Bracco is trying hard to tactfully purge that station while also getting people to stay there.

Can someone tell me if this is a lot? KSHB currently has seventeen job openings.

Why are they known as "broadcast meteorologists"? I mean...isn't that sort of obvious?

I don't see why a triopoly is legal. I'm just waiting for the day when Sinclair or Nexstar will end up owning an entire market.

KSHB hired Demetria Obilor, who is literally FRESH out of college as a 2012 graduate, to do their traffic in the mornings. (On a side note, if it seems like I only post about KSHB, it's because people are coming and leaving that station more than we breathe in a day)

I've heard that he can be somewhat arrogant and dismissive, but then again, those things are probably said about any news director or general manager at a television station. However he really did help to take KCTV away from their infamous days of in-you-face reporting and harassing, almost stalking like investigations. Not to mention that their news product was near TMZ-like and there was so much death on their newscasts you would've sworn it was a cop show and severe weather coverage of storms outside the viewing area. First on, last off. That was KCTV's philosophy. However once Labbe took over, all of that stopped. They still have that stigma with them, but it's more or less faded now. He managed to calm the station down (significantly to say the least), build up its actual journalistic qualities and bring the station to a respectable position, both ratings and reputation wise.

KSHB has hired Matt Brown as their assistant news director. He comes from KOKI in Tulsa, OK where he was their full news director. Anyone know what he was like and how he did over at KOKI? Oh wait now...upon further research I've discovered that Brown was fired after not even 2 years along with their general manager? I'm also getting implications that their news quality isn't the best. This seems to indicate that he didn't do a good job...makes me wonder now KSHB would have hired him.

KSNW general manager John Dawson is leaving the station.

Patrick Fazio from WTWO in Terra Haute has joined KSHB in Kansas City as their weekday morning anchor. He starts later on this month.

KAKE-TV, the ABC affiliate down in Wichita, Kansas, is taking heat after apparently firing one of their reporters for making a mistake/using the wrong wording on one of his reports.
