Even worse. They're using Aerial as their news theme
The irony is not lost on me that one of the most boring fonts has a very similar name to one of the most boring music packages.

The thread formerly known as the New Hearst Thread?

A PAC here in NC is using a knockoff version of the Hearst graphics in one of their commercials:

What does that have anything to do with the Out and About Section?
I'm pretty sure he was (sarcastically) responding to the post about the WPSD meteorologist.

There seems to be quite the pipeline from Charlotte to KIRO:
-ex WCCBer John Knicely
-ex WSOCer Linzi Sheldon
-ex WBTVer Kelly Franson
and now, ex WCNCer Dave Wagner joins the station as anchor and investigative reporter

Sonja Gantt is leaving the anchor desk at WCNC and will only be there for special reports.

WKEF has changed its news branding to "FOX 45 News on ABC":

I mean I get wanting to have unified branding but having the junior partner in the virtual duopoly have the primary part of the branding doesn't make sense to me.

This is apparently over
http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/foxs-local-news-experiment-in-charlotte-is-scrapped/152257
Never even knew it was a thing, but the idea sounds terrible. Would have been nice to see it in action.
This is somewhat old news, they have been moving towards a more traditional newscast for a little while now. Here is the article from the Charlotte Observer that was cited in the article above.

As if there weren't enough changes going on at WCNC as of late, reporter Amy Cowman has left the station. However, she isn't going far, as she will be a freelance reporter at WCCB.

WJZY Adds Two and Moves One
http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wjzy-adds-two-and-moves-one/151639
There's more changes in Charlotte, this time at WJZY FOX46. Will moving their main anchor Barbara Lash to mornings and bringing in a young reporter from Houston as her replacement help them?
Main anchor Barbara Lash (center) is being moved to the mornings.
Kayla Ayres (right) is being hired from KPRC Houston to replace her as main anchor
And the one on the far left, Ashlee McGeehan, is being hired as a reporter from WJET Erie
Stay tuned as they say...
Not a terrible move. Barbara Lash (nee Pinson) used to be an AM anchor at WBTV a few years back. The morning ratings could use anything they can to get improved ratings, and I don't think the 10pm ratings will suffer unless Ayres has issues. I just really don't see them ever making a dent in the ratings unless they either get a big local name or they have some outrageous publicity stunt. I'm bearish on Charlotte being able to support 6 TV news organizations.

Beth Troutman, formerly of WCCB and "Right this Minute" is joining WCNC in early September as 6pm and 11pm anchor: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/entertainment/tv/media-scene-blog/article26626672.html

Tim Brant left WJLA a month ago (surprised no one on here caught that). The reason given was that Sinclair didn't want him doing ACC Network telecasts during sweeps months (November and Feburary).

Feels like it should be a classic, but WCCB's open from 2000:

Dave Wagner is gone from WCNC NBC Charlotte, Charlotte Observer reports that his contract was not renewed.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/entertainment/tv/media-scene-blog/article23017560.html
Not surprised at this at all. He has had a diminished role at the station for a while now with Bill McGinty taking over newscasts.

Chris Hohmann updated his post to say Fred & Sheyenne Rodriguez (also a WTVD reporter) will be moving to Charlotte. No word on what station as of yet.
His last three twitter follows were Bill McGinty, Michelle Boudin and Dianne Gallagher, all 3 from WCNC

I noticed that WZZM's holdings company is Combined Communications of Oklahoma and it hit me. Wouldn't it make sense if Gannett/Tegna bought Griffin Communications in Oklahoma (which has KWTV and KSBI in Oklahoma City as well as KOTV and KQCW in Tulsa)?
That is certainly possible.
The Combined Communications of Oklahoma name is due to the fact that they were part of the trade that sent KOCO and WLWT to Argyle (before they hitched up with Hearst) for WZZM and WGRZ.
-
That was done because of the upcoming corporate split between the papers and stations.

He went to high school in the area and still has family there too.

Yet another long-time WCNC personality is leaving. Ira Cronin, longtime weekend sports anchor, who as of late has been serving as the weekday morning anchor, is leaving for KOAA, where he will have the same job.

Wow, what a shock. Thoughts a prayers to him and his family both on and off air. Here is him announcing his retirement.Add one more to that list. Larry Stogner, longtime anchor at WTVD, has been diagnosed with ALS and is taking time off. https://www.facebook.com/ABC11/photos/a.82214697549.81177.57780972549/10152862369442550/
