Starting January 12th, WRAL will have a 4pm newscast on WRAZ

THIS ISN'T A LIST THREAD!!!
Every market has at least one giant of broadcasting that served as the voice of the region in the 20th century. We get it.
Not to get all bitchy about it.
Thank you! Was getting ready to say this.

Former WSET weekend meteorologist Lyndsay Tapases, has been hired as a new meterologist at Charlotte's WBTV 3.
She will be starting on the last week of this month.
Much needed as they just lost Ashley Batey to WTSP and Kelly Franson and KIRO

Where's the "A GANNETT COMPANY" on WHAS' new site???
The same place that it is on KGW's site. Nowhere.
-
Anyone heard any rumbles as to KREM's plans to change graphics and website?
Maybe they are going to do it alongside an HD launch a la KTVB. The real question is when is KHOU going to get the new gfx?

The 126th edition of NewsActive3's open collections, all from 2014

FTV reports KCTV ND Larry Perret is heading to WGCL. He has been in KC for eleven months.
I'll give him six months and he is gone.

WETM has debuted their new logo and Look F (I think that's right, may be wrong) and they are now in HD as well.

Not too shabby for market 174

There is also the possibility they might not do any graphic launches this month because of sweeps.
-
I wonder if WHAS will be going HD with the graphics launch.
Also, if the trend of one launch a week on Wednesdays continues, all the Belo stations will have the graphics by August 27th.
-
For the most part, yes. If a rebrand does happen, they should just go with either "WCNC News" and leave out the channel number, or go back to being just "News 36".
Bingo. My thoughts exactly. I like the branding "WCNC News". It feels more local and less corporate than "NBC Charlotte". Although if they do keep NBC Charlotte, they should get a new logo that is cleaner. The font on their logo reminds me too much of WCCB's.

WCNC is FINALLY going to debut High Definition newscasts later this month. According to the stations Twitter account, they installed the HD cameras this week.
Someone pinch me. This has to be a dream.

Does anyone have an excat date or when KVUE is launching it's new website? Would appreciate it!
Also, is KVUE receiving the new Gannett on-air graphics package? (information bar, lineup, ticker, etc.). I am anxious to know if KVUE is jumping onto the "This is Home" bandwagon. Also noticing that the font for their commercial promos and maps are the same as their existing pre Belo stations.
I'm guessing KVUE is the first to get the transition because it was owned by Gannnett once before, I don't know...
I don't think there is a date. That video was posted a month ago, so it's kinda weird to me that they haven't done anything yet, but then again they could be waiting until after sweeps to make changes.
Not sure, but KING5 in Seattle has promos with a version of the New Gannett graphics (I'm pretty sure they haven't had a graphics change since 2007, so I would think that they would have priority in getting the new graphics). I don't think KVUE being previously owned by Gannett has anything to do with them being first, though.

Could be, Dion Lim is obviously exempt from that because she went to WTSP. But then again, Belo treated WCNC like shit, so maybe Gannett is making changes there.I wonder if Gannett has anything to do with that ie let's get outta there as fast as we can as Gannett is not a great company...

I read on Twitter WYMT in Hazard, KY is getting HD. How does a station in the 25th largest market (WCNC) allow a station in HAZARD, KENTUCKY to beat them to HD? Even after the change to Gannett. WCNC should have got it a long time ago!
They've only had control of the Belo stations for just under 4 months now. Going HD isn't an overnight thing. Gannett has to have it in their plan for them to go HD soon (I would hope). So weird to say it, but it's not even their biggest problem as of late. They seem to have an employee turnover problem. Their GM, ND, Dion Lim, Kellie Patterson, and now Meghan Danahey all gone within the past few months (there may be some I forgot, but you get the point).

WCNC has a new interim news director, Ron Bilek, who has worked at WSOC, WBTV, and WXIA

...and in more WOIO news....they are giving away their anchor desk to one of their facebook fans! It will be autographed by the anchor team.
Seems like an interesting idea....
Which means....a set refresh is definitely on its way....stay tuned!
Might have missed this then: http://forums.tvnewstalk.net/index.php?/topic/13505-woio-new-news-set/

Corrie Harding, news director at WCNC, is leaving for a job at NBC News in New York. More from Mark Washburn: http://charlottemediascene.blogspot.com/2014/01/wcnc-news-director-leaving-for-nbc-job.html
Their GM left at the end of the year, I wonder if that's related to this? (I know the article said that it wasn't due to new owner, but who knows). Could be some changes there in the future.

I'd like to see WTSP try an ice desk...being the Gannett station in the warmest climate. Now I don't see that going along well.
I'd like to see them make a set out of sand on the beach. I have seen enough ice sets. This winter has been brutal.
-
I wonder when the first ex-Belo station will get redesigned? Also when they will get the new graphics?
For the websites, considering heritage Gannett is in the middle of a transformation, I would assume that the changes would be rather soon for the Belo ones.

EDIT: A couple of Charlotte stories
Dion Lim from WCNC is headed to sister station WTSP per her Facebook page

WBTV is starting a 7-9am news AND an 8pm news on their subchannel

According to her FB page, Tera Blake, the AM meteorologist at WCCB is leaving for another job (up north, but a couple of her recent twitter follows were WEWS personnel, so maybe there)

If they had a strategy of buying high performing FOX stations in large markets, I could certainly see it happening. However it is not and Miami by virtue of the conference of their football team does not fit, therefore it won't happen.
