  1. Someone shot one of the guards KRON-TV uses to accompany its reporters. It happened in Oakland. https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/kron4-security-guard-shot-in-oakland/
  2. Project: Veritas has struck again, this time at TEGNA. Look through Twitter and you'll find an interview with a former KENS promotions producer, who gave Veritas a diversity/inclusion module from this past summer.
  3. Kruse talks about leaving the Q (spoiler: she wants you to subscribe).
  4. I noticed FOX is offering satellite media tours with Amy Freeze this Friday morning.
  5. This will vary state to state, but if refusing a vaccine mandate means being fired, as opposed to leaving on your own free will, a non-compete can be discarded. A few states have also made non-competes illegal anyway.
  6. FOX Weather branding is appearing on the FOX News Edge feed too.
  7. Thankfully, that former KCBD saleswoman doesn't teach social studies.
  8. Rumor is SBG stations were hit with another cyber attack this weekend. I don't know if it will affect newscasts.
  9. Albert Ramon is joining WBBM-TV as chief meteorologist.
  10. TV has a long history of second (third, fourth) chances. But, anyone leaving Gray for vaccination reasons would be wise to stay quiet. I already know of a few managers who won't hire a Gray castoff if they know that person refused a COVID-19 vaccine. Jumping to that local school district/hospital/animal shelter for P.R. won't be as easy either.
  11. It had been talked about for a while, but Mark Alford really is leaving WDAF-TV after 23 years. His last day is October 12.

  15. Bring back in-studio wrestling. By the way, Saturday night is typically the least-watched news of the week for most any station. If WKYC is going to do something different, that's probably the spot to try it.
  16. It looks like a few disgruntled people at MSNBC are leaking stories to the New York Post. https://nypost.com/2021/09/26/staff-at-msnbc-are-panicking-over-networks-direction-under-rashida-jones/
  17. I don't see any evidence of this happening company-wide. KATU is re-running some locally-produced specials from earlier in the year.
  18. NewsNation is also starting a franchise called "Missing in America."

This goes back a ways; I think Dobyns retired from TV in the late 1980s. ----- MEBANE, N.C. (AP) - Lloyd Dobyns Jr., an award-winning NBC News correspondent who reported from places around the world and who anchored an innovative U.S. television newscast in the early 1980s, has died, his family said. He was 85. Ken Dobyns said in a statement that his father died Sunday in Mebane, North Carolina, northwest of Raleigh. He said his father suffered complications from a series of strokes. Dobyns worked for NBC News in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and was known in the U.S. for working with Linda Ellerbee on the late-night news series “NBC News Overnight” in 1982 and 1983, according to a statement released by Ken Dobyns and online with a Raleigh funeral home.
  22. Variety says Maddow has agreed to a renewal with MSNBC.
