  1. KUNS will be the new CW affiliate in Seattle. Univision is being dropped. They declined being moved to a subchannel.
  2. In today's earnings call, Nexstar teased that more CW affiliation changes will be announced in the coming weeks.
  3. Kevin Adell has sent a cease and desist letter to WMYD to stop the CW affiliation. Official article (paywalled).
  4. WMYD's CW affiliation is officially announced. That leaves the question of what happens with Mission's pending acquisition of WADL.
  5. WMYD will take the CW affiliation in Detroit.
  6. CW Network yanked from Detroit airwaves over business spat
  7. An affiliation switch flew under the radar. The CW departed Scripps' MTN group of stations for Nexstar's KSVI.
  8. Comet is essentially syndicated programming. It's as watchable as any other station's lineup. I'll take reruns of The X-Files over a Byron Allen court show. It wouldn't be out of place on an independent station in another era. I'm surprised we don't see more stations fill non-network/news hours with programming from their in-house diginet rather than spending money on dwindling syndicated fare. If Nexstar wants to cut CW's programming costs, why not nuke the syndicated CW+ shows and fill the time with a mix of programming from their diginets?
  9. KAUT's switch to CW was made official today as well. It's still an odd, isolated decision. Horse trading between Nexstar and Sinclair? Either way, Freedom 43 gives way to CW 43.
  10. WADL has finally updated their ancient website and unveiled their new logo.
  11. AJC briefly had an article up announcing CW's new Atlanta affiliate, but it was taken down. I didn't catch which station was announced.
  12. According to WGN's schedule, they will be airing CW's ACC football games instead of WCIU.
  13. Nexstar readies new CW Network affiliates in Pittsburgh, Seattle In the Seattle market, a deal is being finalized to bring CW Network programming to KONG (Channel 16), an independent station owned by TEGNA that operates as a duopoly with NBC affiliate KING-TV (Channel 5) Despite not being a full-time independent station, WATL has a slight edge as the Atlanta area’s next CW Network affiliate, because the deal could cover both it and KONG in Seattle. WPCH is also being considered, because its status as an independent station means it can more-easily accommodate CW Network shows by moving around some syndicated programming. But the channel’s distribution in Canada — which dates back to its ownership by Turner, when it was called WTBS (later TBS Superstation) — proves somewhat problematic for Nexstar, in part because the network is relying on older Canadian series to fill some of its prime-time schedule and has secured live sports programming whose rights are held by other broadcasters in the country.
  14. WADL posted a promo video on their front page announcing their CW affiliation.
  15. WPNT's listings show CW programming starting on Sept. 1
  16. For the month of May, NewsNation was up triple digits in both total primetime viewership and in the key advertising demographic of viewers aged 25-54—with 102-percent year-over-year growth in the former and 100-percent growth in the latter.
  17. Asked by Nathanson what the company has learned from broadcasting LIV so far, Sook quipped, “What we’ve learned is you probably don’t want to switch to the app with a three-man playoff with Dustin Johnson in it with three holes to go. But usage of the app on Sunday was up 340%, so life wasn’t all bad.”
  18. The announcers said CW stations were ending coverage but it would continue on the CW app, so it wasn’t like it was cut off without warning. They went 30 mins over their allotted broadcast time due to a rain delay. Those watching the live simulcast on the app had uninterrupted coverage. (DJ took it in a three-man playoff. Great round of golf.)
  19. Asked about last week’s long-expected news that eight CBS stations in major markets are ditching their CW affiliations and going independent, Sook said three Nexstar-owned stations in the same markets appear to be on track to become CW affiliates.
  20. Nexstar appeared to have developed a cozy relationship with KUSI since they took LIV Golf in lieu of KFMB, and now it’s culminated in an outright sale and a future CW affiliation. As for KFMB’s agreement, I think both parties would pursue an early exit from that. I think this is going to go down in other markets as well. Nexstar and Tegna appear to be at odds over CW, stemming from the latter’s refusal to carry LIV.
  21. NBC dropping 10pm is still considered a 'real possibility' for the 2024-25 season.
  22. Scripps Sports: Phones ‘Already Ringing’ as Regional Sports Nets Implode
  23. LIV Golf has found their U.S. TV home with The CW in a multi-year deal. Weekend tournaments will air live on The CW, while Friday rounds will stream on CW’s AVOD app.
