Over on the WABC board they're saying Shirleen will be anchoring the Noon broadcast on channel 7. Replacing either Lori Stokes, Ken Rosato, or both.

Not certain who she'll be co-anchoring with but more than likely it'll be David Navarro.

 

A bittersweet anouncement, but it's a good career move for her I believe.

 

P.S. Philly seems to be a feeder market into NYC DMA#1 with so many Philly talent making the move to NY in the last few years, the question is whose next to jump ship frm DMA 4 > NYC?

I still think they should add Tamron Hall to co anchor with Matt, but that's my opinion. I like Savannah but the ratings for Today are sad to say the least.

 

The Today show lacks something that GMA has & its working for ABC.

 

Add Sam Champion to the weather & NBC might have a winning combination.

Sharrie Williams = Cheryl Burton at Chicago WLS: ABC 7 News @ 10pm. A "Contributing Anchor" or "Third Anchor" to the newscast.

 

Although I don't understand why Sharrie isn't the main fill in for either Rick or Monica; that has me perplexed. Isn't that the whole purpose of being a third anchor? To fill in when the Primary Anchors are off?

 

Gotta say... The weekend newscasts with Michelle, Rob & Amy has become a prototype for what you want on the weekend. Weather, details of the day's events, and a team with crazy chemistry. Been years since I've turned on a newscast and kept it on for 2 hours to catch the banter in between the stories.

 

Weekend mornings are usually throw away newscasts, but not at WABC. Rob, Michelle, & Amy are great. Its almost as if they've been working together for years. IMO they're just as good the weekend versions of Today or GMA.

 

Yeah, too much going on, too many changes, particularly ones that don't make sense. Just give Vai and Tracy the entire 4-7am shift. As for the 11am, they should give it two anchors and stop rotating it! Either give it to Keith & Renee, or Vai & Tracy. Keep Chris on the weekends!!

 

I agree, keep Chris on the weekends. He reminds me of a wannabe Ron Burgundy.

I've never seen Shirleen Allicot during breaking news, now I know why. The "ummms" were irritating so I changed the channel. It was early in the development of the news story so I'll cut her a break. But as they say practice makes perfect. The only way an anchor gets better at breaking news is to actually anchor "off the cuff" so to speak; Hone one's skills. Brian Taff usually takes the lead but he was off today. Thank god for Jim Gardner.

 

Lori Stokes presents well as an anchor and is an asset to the EWN morning team. She flubs words on occasion, but it isn't anything overly significant. It has been said that she has a very good agent (most major market on-air talent have agents), and her contracts are carefully negotiated to her benefit. She earns a very good salary, is not required to report from the field, has limited fill-in requirements, and paid benefits and vacations.

 

None of this would be possible without the overall positive revenue generated by the station in AM drive.

 

I do not think she is unwell or that anything is wrong. She is probably just taking some more time off.

 

 

Lori Stokes has been the morning anchor at WABC for almost 15 years now. I think she's earned the right to a 1 week vacation every now and then, seven figure contract, benefits, etc.

 

I had to chuckle at the line the there was "minimal blowback" at CBS3. In November CBS3 is dead last in all news time periods and keeps dropping. We are in 6th place at 6. Chris May, a nice guy, was never and will never be able to hold the ratings that Mendte got when he came over from Ten. We are panicked at the station right now.

I was wondering how KYW/CBS3 did in the November book, as I don't live in the Philly area anymore. I guess the new team of Dean/May isn't catching on

 

I know people have said it before and I know it'll never be permenant but I really like Lori Stokes and Diana Williams anchoring together. I think they work really well and have good chemistry

 

Agreed. Lori should be the 5pm anchor along with Diana. Perfect chemistry and you can tell Diana likes working with Lori a lot!

Bill and Sade work well together at 11pm so no change there; or make Sade the morning anchor, but it'll probably never happen.
