I kinda feel like this discussion over the National Anthem should be moved over into its own thread.

I honestly thought there was a thread regarding this... Must of been my imagination.

    not. one. bit.

There are some people who still like and watch CNN US no matter what problems it has. Yeah yeah, online--but just because you don't like it, shouldn't mean others should lose what they consider their news source. It's like asking if it's plausible for Fox News or MSNBC to go away.

Actually, I would like for all cable news networks to go away...

They serve no logistical purpose other than to pollute the mainstream cycles with garbage and to blatantly grab for ratings. There is zero integrity with any of the news channels.

MSNBC if they can convert to the NBC News Channel maybe, but yeah; I said what I said.

Semi-related, but don't you agree that Gannett/TEGNA has gone downhill lately? How are they right now in comparison to Sinclair, Nexstar, and Gray? Could TEGNA go away like RKO General did?

Eh. The only reason why TEGNA along with Scripps have gone downhill is because they're too focused on trying to solve the issue of "how do we take our traditional newscasts and make them appeal to younger viewers".

What Nextstar and Gray realize is that by making "subtle" changes, they can appeal to both the traditional and youth markets, TEGNA and Scripps don't really grasp the situation they're in.

I'd go even further that all TV station groups (even the O&Os) will go downhill to the point where there is no recovery. Internet has replaced TV as the go to source for news unfortunately and there's no way of stopping it.

I’m happy for her, but need I remind you you were never voted spokesman or press secretary on behalf of TVNT. We are all capable of speaking on our own to congratulate her. Just worry about yourself.

    Just. Stop.

We don't need this type of junk on TVNT.

We don't need you to say that we're capable for speaking on our own, he was just doing a nice gesture on behalf of all of us that we're grateful for because he does a lot of work for this forum in an unofficial fashion.

Stop your shick or leave. You don't have to do either but you're becoming really annoying now.

  5. Not sure if I follow your NBC/Telemundo point. So are English-speaking people a dying breed?

I also maintain that this Fox football strategy is flawed.

Latino's can speak English too; the thing about Hispanics/Latinos is that they have more money, can make more influential changes and as a market, are easier to approach. (ala niche)

I also agree that it's flawed as well; I will laugh if they're forced to sell WJZY/WMYT after spending alot of money to get into Charlotte but for now; it works for them if they're smart enough.

  6. For some reason, I somehow think that Disney should've bought all or most of Albittron instead of Sinclair. They were all ABC affiliates anyway.

It doesn't make sense for networks to buy stations anymore. Especially considering there's no need to when your network affiliates are paying for the privilege to carry your programming. It may have been cool to have an O&O in Washington but the other stations, it was going to be a hassle to sell them off. Especially if you're Disney.

It makes sense for Telemundo to buy O&O's (but not NBC) because let's face it. Latino's are a hot growing market and if you can be in the positions of many hot spots (like Tuscon) than it'll make you a whole lot of money.

It also makes some sense for Fox because Football makes them money; but that's if they're smart enough to keep NFC rights.

From the Bill Applegate era at CBS 2 in Chicago:

Bush league crap, especially for a station whose ratings dominance could have once been accurately described as ridiculous.

Man you have poor taste in news opens; while the CBS 2 may be a bit wonky; it's ambitious and a relic of it's time. NBC 10's is just fun, especially the theme which is one I want to see publicly posted if the time comes.
