WHDH meteorologist Bri Eggers won't be returning to the station after maternity leave; she's returning to Idaho (or as she calls it, Idahome.)

Dan McCarthy has left WGME. He made quite an impression in a relatively short amount of time in the market. The tributes are rolling in - including from the competition.

Page Six: Amid slumping ratings, Glor may soon be out as CBS Evening News anchor. As always, take with a huge grain of salt.

This may be in the wake of getting Jackie Layer from NECN/WBTS a couple of months ago. For their output WHDH seems dead set to not go beyond four meteorologists.
If that's the case, it seems foolhardy - from all appearances Wren had quite a following. Then again, Ansin has a history of shooting himself in the foot regarding talent.

WHDH morning meteorologist Wren Clair has left 7 Bulfinch Place. No social media posts for over three weeks, and her bio has disappeared from the 7News website. There is speculation that she has returned to her native Minnesota.

The ftvlive game cannot be played without the cooperation of the broadcast talent agents.
Scott won't tell you that part.
The fact that talent agents are heavy advertisers on his blog (and his own feed includes spoonfed PR from agents) kind of gives the game away.

The "This is Home" package lives on at WCSH - as a commercial music bed for one of their clients. This exact cut from the package was previously heard as the original theme for "News Center Now"

Tegna-itis claims another victim - the First Radio Parish Church of America will cease operations after a 92-year run

This reminds me of the Tom "TJ Thunder" Johnston scandal that rocked WCSH last year. There was an allegation of sexual assault, and as the authorities closed in he went missing, and his body was found days later. He killed himself rather than face the music. He had a history of questionable behavior down in Florida before he came north. Tegna forced their longtime chief met Joe Cupo into retirement to advance Johnston. That blew up in their face big time.

When a Sinclair-owned station is outdoing you, you might have a problem.
How big is WMTW's studio?
It's pretty small, just as their studio was when they were in Monument Square. They're sharing space with WPXT/WPME, so there's only so much real estate there. WGME's newsroom is quite spacious as well:
-
Highly unimpressed. Is the studio that small?
Yes it is. WGME's studio dwarfs it. Here's a pic of WGME's HD studio under construction in 2011; alas, the link to DDG's site is broken.

Some very sad news out of my native Boston: http://www.wcvb.com/article/jack-hynes-channel-5-dean-of-boston-tv-news-dies-at-88/17805935
More coverage of the late Jack Hynes here:

hope this is some random dude making a joke instead of the real person trying to reach out....
Some random dude. If Livingston was genuinely interested, he would reach out to her personally rather than through FTVLive's commenting function.

Do you think Scott Chapin or John B.Wells has raspy voice as well?
A bit, but not to the point where I would be advocating moving on from them.

Also, sadly, I think Ed Hopkins’ voice is starting to go... he does sound a bit raspy here. Will definitely be an end to an era here as he’s been their VO since 1985 (and possibly even earlier - see this 1983 ID):
I think Ed's voice sounds just fine. A little deeper, perhaps. Not much different from when my station was using him in the late '80s-early '90s. Certainly not as raspy as Charlie Van Dyke.

Who leaves or gets bumped to NECN then?
Mike Nikitas recently left NECN, so I imagine there's a vacancy somewhere.
Edit 2/2/18: Desiree Wiley is headed out the door (so says FTVLive) so that's another vacancy

Ex-WHDH'er Christa Delcamp is - supposedly - headed to NBC Boston. Too bad if that is so.

Now WGCL can find a new lead anchor. Any idea who will be anchoring at 5, 6 & 11?
Whoever it is, (s)he should rent, not buy.

This genuinely sucks. After Kayna Whitworth left for ABC, she's been the rock in the AM. She'll be hard to replace. FTVLive suggests she'll end up at WFXT. As long as it isn't the Witness Protection Program (AKA NBC Boston)

I can see why Tegna wants to move on from the USA Today layouts, but ugh...

Too bad Cox doesn't really do anything creative with its corporate ID. Say what you will about Nexstar, but I'll argue all day that their ident is the best since the Gannett "Death Star."
