  1.

Watching KSDK right now and I noticed they have the updated package. One thing I noticed is that the L3s aren't up the whole time and they disappear along with the rundown after a few seconds leaving only the bug up.

Is that something all the Gannett stations are doing with the new package or just KSDK.

KING has up the L3's up the whole time. It's just more compact to the bottom of the screen. Their only issue is the last few letters are under the bug, as they haven't gotten used to the small space.
  2. So, I watched KENS last night and they do in fact call it "Friday Night Football" and all the graphics are based on this. There is a single graphic in the background referencing USA Today and a couple of the screen transitions used that graphic. Otherwise, it was presented completely local.

Sooooo...not buying this version of Gannett/USA Today rant...I think we all get you don't like Gannett...

  3. Those kind of complaints are common. And the screen issue is a setting on their TV, even if they don't think it is. Alot of people like to watch zoomed TV, as it's like it was in the past, and not in the wide screen. This is one of the first news packages that is completely based on widescreen and not 4:3.

It all stops after a few days.

  4. I guess I will be the unpopular one, but I don't think Texas should be spared from the change just because it's Texas. And I doubt that Gannett sees it that way either. You could come up with an argument with every station or cluster of Gannett stations why they should get to do their own thing, but when it comes down to it....no one is more special than the other.

  5. So if my record keeping is up to date, the following stations have yet to make the switch to the Gannett graphics:

    WCNC (Poss July 30)

    WFAA (Poss Aug 20)

    KHOU

    KENS

    KVUE

    KREM

    KTVB

    And all London Broadcasting Stations.

The following stations have yet to make their website switch:

    WVEC

    WHAS

    WWL

    WFAA

    KHOU

    KREM

    KING

    NWCN

    KGW

    All London Broadcasting Stations.

Anyone seen any teasers about changes coming with any of these stations?

  6. Opinions will vary greatly. I like the KING and KGW cuts, and I also like the WWL cut. Yet, alot of people don't like them. Some people just don't like TIH because it belongs to Gannett and they don't like them. It's just how it is... Do I think they could do more with the graphics and music...you betcha! I wish they would look more at stations like KUSA (and yes there are others) that have embraced the change and made it work. We'll see. But it is what it is... I will say that KING, KGW, KREM, KTVB and NWCN were beyond overdue for a change.
