I won't go much further into speculation beyond what I will say though but if say Lester continued to do NN until 70 (so for another 8 and a half to 9 years) Smith would be 64 to 65 by the time he would step into the NN chair (assuming Smith is the successor to Holt).

 

I have to wonder what other options NBC has for Lester's replacement beyond Shep?

They have Savannah, Craig, Chuck and Katy.

Apparently Rob is making a recovery. It’s very slow although it looks like he will make it.

I’ve seen Mary at the studio as late as after 4pm some days. I presume she has a break somewhere in the afternoon.

Chuck has also been doing the 1pm hour after Andrea I am thinking they might move. MTP Daily to that slot and make Katy  Tur 2 hours between chuck and Nicolle. Put Joshua Johnson in at 5pm. 
 

That’s possible although Katy would still only have the 2pm hour if Chuck was at 1 and Nicole started at 3. Also why is Brian Williams co-anchoring with Katy? Possible move to afternoons so Shep Smith can take his spot if/when he join?

I would think so as well although usually the weekend evening weatherperson fills in on evenings. Could Erica get TINY and Rafael be moving to weekends? Anything is possible.

As to the topic at hand, I actually would like to see Mike either take over for Bill or David. Mike’s young and has plenty of experience, and is great at what he does. I like Joe, but like Sandra, he’s better on weekends and as a weekday fill-in. His personality just doesn’t scream “lead anchor” material.

It was a mistake. I’ll warn you that I can be just as rude as you are. David likely won’t be retiring anytime soon. Not sure about  Bill.

Regardless, Diana's retirement date is September 12. I don't think that's a date picked out of thin air or because of Shirleen being out. Simpler, it's probably so she can do 9-11 coverage, something I'm sure means a lot. 

That’s probably why. Diana should co-anchor the 9/11 coverage with Bill this year. Perhaps she will.

Ratings for all the morning shows are down compared to last year, however, CBS has suffered the biggest losses.  

 

“Compared to the same week last year,  ABC was -4% in total viewers, NBC was -4% in total viewers, while CBS was -9%. In the A25-54 demo, ABC was -10%, NBC was -11% and CBS -17% vs. the comparable week last year.”

It’s still early but my feeling is this won’t end well. My guess is 2-3 years tops and then this team is dissolved. Perhaps Tony will then join Katy at MSNBC. This could be why Jeff agreed to co-anchor CBS Saturday Morning again. Perhaps he sees a chance to co-host cbs this morning in a few years.
