  1. Bob Hetherington/Charlene Brown were a long-running team here in Columbus, Sinclair ended up replacing them with Yolanda Harris and Gabe Spiegel in 2001 and later Yolanda Harris and Bob Kendrick in 2009. His wife Lorene Wagner was the first anchor of WTTE’s newscast before Sinclair ended up consolidating the operations/rebranding as NewsCenter on ABC-6/FOX-28 in 1999...
  2. WKEF ripped off WCMH’s first NewsChannel 4 graphics package in 1997:
  3. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to work in market #4? They’re not going to have a problem naming a replacement. Plus, CBS has other issues to worry about right now, so I’m not sure filling that spot is their number one priority...
  4. WHIO still does live hits with the DC bureau during the noon and 5:30 shows. No.
  5. Their Fox 45 News logo reminds me of WRGT’s late 90s/early 00s logo. Old and clunky.
  6. Laurie Dhue & Gregg Jarrett anchoring coverage of Reagan’s death in 2004. Fox News Special Report taken from WNYW.
  7. Adam Housley and Conor Powell out at FNC: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/08/23/fox-news-reporters-opinion-network-adam-housley-795278
  8. Doug Adair and Colleen Marshall were their shortest-lived anchor team. Adair left not too long after this clip and was replaced by Cabot Rea, who recently retired in 2016.
  9. What studio at FNC were they using? The building has three empty studios - Studio A which, until 2017, was home to The O'Reilly Factor and is used for Watters' World once a week; Studio J where Huckabee, Mike & Juliet, The Five, Outnumbered and studio audience shows were based out of, and Studio E where Happening Now, Cavuto, & Fox and Friends were based out of...
  10. I wouldn’t mind seeing WNYW abandon the Fox Television Center and move in with FNC one day...
  11. Promo for WWHO’s 10pm news - 1995. Originally entitled News 4 Prime and later the WB-53 10:00 News and finally NewsChannel 4 at 10 on WB 53... it was produced by WCMH from 1994 to 1998, until NBC sold the station to Paramount/Viacom. NBC, for a time, stunted with an hour of news on WWHO. After the 10pm news ended, a same-day repeat of EXTRA aired from WCMH... this was before the Leeza Gibbons era of Extra and it became all celebrity fluff. It was originally anchored by Cabot Rea and Jane Yamamoto until 1995 and they were replaced by Mike Jackson who remains at WCMH to this day and Deena Centofanti who is now at WJBK. 10pm news didn’t return to WWHO until 2005 when WBNS entered into a news-share arrangement with them under Viacom. It carried over through the sale to LIN.
  12. Courtney Yuen out at WCMH in Columbus
  13. WSYX is one of Sinclair’s few bright spots.
  14. Adding to Columbus, Tylar Bacome has returned to WCMH after a 12 year hiatus. He anchored the 6pm with Colleen Marshall tonight. He was cut as part of NBC’s 2006-07 cutbacks and last anchored NewsChannel 4 Today with Anietra Hamper. He was cut along with John Ivanic, Elizabeth Scarborough (yes, Chuck’s daughter), Holly Hollingsworth, Monique Ming-Laven, and Nancy Burton.
  15. Ellie Merritt was hired over from channel 10... she was one of Media General’s first hires after they bought the station from NBC and the subsequent 2007 cuts. She replaced Holly Hollingsworth who was there from ‘97-‘07. Is Holly still in the industry?
  16. Sanders was an NBC yes-man that NY installed in 1999... no one in the newsroom liked him. He tried to fire Ganahl back in 2005. Surprised Craig Robinson didn’t try to fire him before Media General put their people in place by 2008.
  17. Heather Pick came to Columbus not too long after this newscast! We were so lucky to have her.
  18. MMJ and chief photog at WCMH Rick Reitzel out. Been there 25 years, through 4 owners: Outlet, NBC, Media General and Nexstar and 6 news directors.
  19. Did you know that it originally aired on WCMH? When NBC bought WCMH from Outlet it was moved to WBNS for the 1996-97 TV season and it’s been there since. Wouldn’t mind seeing Live move to WSYX.
  20. What happened to Clark Powell? I know he became a station correspondent for NBC News after NBC bought WCMH, but is he still in television? And his co-anchor... Holly Hollingsworth. She was one of the first employees let go post-sale.
  21. The 2005 revival of A Current Affair also comes to mind. Production was handed over to Fox News Channel at the time, as was Geraldo at Large.
  22. This isn’t the first - WCMH, as an NBC O&O, reaired their newscasts on WSFJ, a religious and ION (then Pax TV) station, as part of an arrangement between NBC and Pax. Many of NBC’s affiliates reaired their newscasts on or produced news for Pax stations. There is one arrangement still in place - in Louisville. WAVE produces news for Louisville’s former ION station, a religious station.
  23. WXIX/Cincinnati - their morning show goes until 11:00 AM.
  24. WCMH/Columbus still uses the old LIN Wordpress site.
