  1. NBC10 website has been updated as follows:

    tammie-souza.jpg

    Tammie Souza

NBC10 First Alert Weather Chief Meteorologist

Tammie Souza is the NBC10 First Alert Weather team's Chief Meteorologist.

Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz is a meteorologist for NBC10.

  2. In their post about Hugh's new show TVNewser also mentions "Thomas Roberts will anchor two hours in the evenings on both Saturday and Sunday, with coverage running until 9 p.m." Welcome Back Thomas to a regular time slot.

  3. MSNBC truly seems prepared to move forward with a good mix of news and opinion. The mix of Joe/Mika & Greta with Chris Matthews & Rachel, as well as Lawrence. The former road warriors in their new positions further enhance the news operation. I think we now see a truly "Fair & Balanced" cable news channel. Now, hopefully, the viewers will give MSNBC a chance and ratings will soar.

  4. I would love to see Gambit, Hollywood Squares back on TV, and add one new or revive soap opera.

ABC does once again own the rights to it's 2 former soaps (AMC and OLTL) maybe revival is possible.

  5. Looks like the Chen-bot is trying to stir up rumors. She was on WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE with Andy Cohen and she said she believed the report in PAGE SIX (apparently the most credible news source) that Barbara Walters was not happy with the turnover and that she would call in to the control room and that they would laugh off her suggestions. She also said THE VIEW should be cancelled. Jealous a bit?

THE VIEW most recently outperformed THE TALK in the ratings in overall audience and all the major demographics (http://www.hollywoodtake.com/view-canceled-despite-cast-changes-and-julie-chens-scathing-comments-abc-talk-show-still-215341).

Does she not realize almost every job she's had at CBS is because of her husband because she is otherwise a complete borefest who lacks personality (as do some of her cohosts like Sara)? Does she not realize that THE TALK was not an original concept, but a copycat of THE VIEW?

We need to remember that "The Talk" was created by Sara not Chen-bot

  6. Given the HUGE success CBS is having with ratings growth in the morning - maybe utilizing the same same studio at night will bring that same good mojo to the evening show. It also helps create some symmetry within the CBS News product.

  7. I just saw a commercial for a WFMZ 40th anniversary special to air on Thanksgiving (11/24) at 6:30 PM.

They have been showing a preview during news programming yesterday and today. It will be fun to see how far they have come in 40 years - from the early days of Newspulse, not to mention 40 years of Kathy Craine; plus some "Where are they now?" on past on-air talent.

  8. They just aired 10 minutes of a loop of various religious programming commercials, then Wendy & Rob abruptly came on - no open or anything - and said they had some "technical issues" then 10 seconds later threw it to Ed for the weather.

    This happens far too often.

I didn't get to see it tonight...the important question is - even after 10 minutes of religious commercials were they still able to fit in Mr. Dean or Rev. Barnhouse's commentary - we wouldn't want to miss that?

Kansas City Station Hires Weekend Co-Anchor

By Kevin Eck on Sep. 30, 2016 - 11:54 AM

    Keleigh-Gibbs-KMBC-9-News.jpg

Keleigh Gibbs has been hired by Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC as a weekend co-anchor.

Gibbs comes from WFMZ in Allentown, Pa. where she was a reporter.

“I already feel so incredibly welcome here in Kansas City,” said Gibbs. “I’m excited and grateful to be back in the Midwest contributing to the outstanding journalistic legacy of KMBC 9 News.”

Before working at WFMZ, Gibbs worked at TouchVision in Chicago. She’s also worked at WXMI in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

  10. Anyone know what happened to Bryan Salmond, WFMZ's new Sports Director? He seems to be MIA. His bio is gone from the website as well. I may have just missed his departure if it was over the holiday weekend...or maybe he is just hanging out with Rick Edwards.

Still don't know about Bryan - but Wendy just used the words "Sports Director Dan Moscaritolo." Additionally, the website has been updated to reflect Dan's promotion. CONGRATS DAN!!!!

  11. Jessica Dean scored an interview with Gov. Scott Walker tonight.

This week's newscasts have been surprisingly hard news so far for the most part. Maybe a sign of the future?

Nope - doubt it - probably just a fluke. Sometimes they can't help themselves and deliver some real news - she will probably get in trouble for it when she gets back to Philly.

  12. KYW sent Jessica Dean, and former aide to George W. Bush Alison Young to Cleveland, as well as having Ed Rendell in studio as an analyst during the 11pm news.

Not sure here - is Alison Young a KYW reporter - she is not on the website? ...and technically isn't Ed Rendell a MSNBC Political Contributor? So, they really only have 1 in Cleveland.

  13. FMZ has 3 people at the RNC in Cleveland -- seems a little overkill to me? Wendy Davis being one of them.

It's strange -- when either Rob or Wendy are off, it's just solo with the other. But right now, Rob is off and Wendy is at the RNC, so Jim & Joy did all the newscasts this afternoon, and also tonight. Why can't one of them fill in for Rob or Wendy on a regular basis?? Their substitute policies make no sense! I really hate when Eve or Jaciel anchor a 4 hour morning newscast by themselves.

EDIT: Wendy scored an interview with Dan Rather. That's interesting.

The Philly stations haven't even sent that much talent to the RNC. Yes, they have network coverage to supplement - where WFMZ is independent, but WFMZ has CNN Newsource.

I always wondered if it was a contractual thing (or just an ego thing) that Rob & Wendy only anchor their broadcasts with each other or solo. The only time I can remember seeing them with anyone else was when they fill-in @ 4pm, or during extended snowstorm coverage. I agree about Sunrise as well, 4 hours is much too long to be alone at the desk.

PS - Day 14 since I noticed Bryan Salmond being MIA. As far as I know there still has been no mention made on-air. This could be a great "Ask the Anchors" question for the Sunrise team "not-to-answer" (like the Rick Edwards question was.)

  14. Also its more suited for the morning show or even the noon or 5PM shows. Not the 11.

Agreed - whether it be "Good Question" or "Taste with Tori" they should have been placed in the "lighter" broadcasts of mornings, noon or 5pm. 6pm and 11pm are about hard news. Reinventing local news by going soft failed once before for KYW - but for some reason we are now suffering through it again.

  15. Was his bio ever up there? I tried looking once and I couldn't find it. The way their talent comes and goes, it's probably hard to keep that updated!

Although his personal twitter is current - his WFMZ facebook page hasn't been updated since June 19th and the link to his bio from there goes to a "page not found".

  16. I haven't heard anything. His twitter account doesn't mention anything. I did notice he wasn't on the LV Iron Pigs broadcast on Saturday. Maybe he's just on vacation.

Not related to Bryan or sports, but I did notice two new reporters this week---Jim Vasil and Alexandra Hogan.

Jim & Alexandra seem like good additions so far. Which probably means they won't be here long.

  17. Anyone know what happened to Bryan Salmond, WFMZ's new Sports Director? He seems to be MIA. His bio is gone from the website as well. I may have just missed his departure if it was over the holiday weekend...or maybe he is just hanging out with Rick Edwards.

  18. I am not a regular NBC10 viewer - it's not that I do not like their news product - they just aren't one of my "go to" stations. That being said - KUDOS to all NBC10 reporters and especially Jim Rosenfield for their live coverage of Congressman Fattah's conviction this afternoon. Understanding the delicate line the station has had to walk because of their former anchor's connection to the story makes their professionalism stand out even more. Congrats on providing good, solid journalism especially in a market where another station can't even find the story if they "eyewitness" it themselves.
