  1. Anyone aware of any details about this? I looked up NY1 on Wikipedia and it looks like they could be debuting a new local morning show called Mornings on 1.

I do recall Jamie Stelter's instagram story last week showing a promo shoot.

  2. I'm friends with Brian Conybeare on Facebook.. this morning he posted a pic of the crew this morning. It was with himself, John Elliot, Elise Finch and Alex Denis. Question: did Elise Finch anchor? If so, that's pretty cool.. anyone know how she Did?

Just went on their YouTube and yes she did anchor this morning. I swear I was in the area once and she had did it before, and she wasn't bad.

  3. I've noticed the area they use for cooking and product demo segments is still being used.

Either the segments were pre-taped and the anchors are in the same clothing to match that segment or that area of the studio has not been taken down yet.

Have they actually moved out of the studio during the remodel?

According to this tweet, the set has been taken down. Maybe they moved parts of it into an empty studio for the time being?

  4. Yeah that I do know. I wonder if it's in her contract? Why have her anchor when they have to cover her spot anyway?

When I've seen her fill in on holidays, there really is no traffic reporter on those days for them.

  5. This morning Alex Denis and Steve Overmeyer anchored. I understand it was a holiday but are they that shorthanded on regular reporters that they have to use a sports anchor and traffic anchor t fill in?

Steve doesn't anchor that much, but Alex has filled in quite a few times on the morning newscast.

  6. Since nobody can read the fine print under the bug, that's a 25-54 demo win. I'd be curious to know the margin of victory.

Someone jog my memory--when Mendte/Chenault beat 6 that one other time in the 2000s at 11, was it in HHs or demo? Or both?

From this news release from 2000, it was a 12.6-12.0 victory for WCAU.

  7. I watched WNYW for the first time in ages, and one thing stood out to me: the picture quality is absolutely horrible! The studio cameras honestly look like 480p, all grainy and edged sharpened. I know they broadcast in 720p so it would look a little softer, but even WABC looks better. What gives?

Some of the studio cameras and pretty much all of their field cameras are still 480p...in 2017.

  8. Bizzare thing just happend, NBC10 news at 11pm started 3 minutes early after a phillies game went long, 57 minutes long to be exact. Instead of just keeping the sports broadcast up to 11 or going to break, Tom Mccarthy said, NBC10News starts right now. You could tell the tech engineer wasnt used to this as half the intro got cut off. It didnt appear they moved the entire show up though as George Spencer threw immediately to weather than for a minute talked about the NBC Universal charity thing before saying NBC10 news at 11 starts now as he previewed the upcoming news storys which were followed by another intro, not to mention that the first 3 minutes included no timr or tempature.

Yeah I saw that, it made no sense to me. Why didn't they just put in ads?

  9. I was on my Vimeo app and on the WNBC CSD profile feed they featured a Storm Ranger promo. Apparently NBC has three of them and they look to be based in Philadelphia, Dallas and Los Angeles.

The ad links to a dead link: NBCNY.com/StormRanger

Yeah, saw that earlier this week as well.

  10. What difference does it make if its 720p or 1080i. No station is in 1080p, so if you're saying 720p isn't full HD, then 1080i isn't full HD either.

WLS had one of the best signals out there with their 720p. .....before they added that Live Well HD subchannel.

It was just a joke, I wasn't really trying to make a point.

  11. and on an unrelated note, I can't believe how much non-HD video WMAQ still uses. What really surprises me is that the in-house graphics like the NBC 5 Storm Team full-screen graphic at the end of the weather segment and the NBC 5 News Today full-screen promo that airs at the end of the 10pm news are both in SD, and both graphics look really terrible on an HD TV. You wouldn't expect this from a station that's battling for the #1 spot in the market, especially when WLS and WGN have ALL of their assets in HD.

Let's not forget, WLS isn't in full HD, it's 720p, not 1080i. LOL
