  1. Not sure here - is Alison Young a KYW reporter - she is not on the website? ...and technically isn't Ed Rendell a MSNBC Political Contributor? So, they really only have 1 in Cleveland.

No, Alison's not a KYW reporter, and I'm sure KYW has their connections to Rendell in addition to the MSNBC responsibilities.

  2. Can they PLEASE get this jackass Curtis Sliwa off of the early morning segments? Oh my god, I can't even put into words how obnoxious he is. What is his purpose? He's not edgy, his fake dialect is annoying as hell, I can go on if I cared to. Get rid of him.

That's just his personality. He does the same on his radio show on WABC-AM and all the national shows he's on. He's not a member of the team, he's just invited because of his personality.

  3. My Question is, are they the ones who decided on it, or did Taft just decide to scale back his work? Obviously they have to give Scott the experience in front of everyone so when Taft retires, everyone would've gotten used to Cheryl by then.

  4. I've been watching KYW pretty much my whole life, and I enjoy it, but the lack of male talent is starting to annoy me. Not to sound sexist, but you can't have 4 women at the anchor desk at 11pm.

Tonight they had Lauren Casey, Jessica Dean, Nicole Brewer, and Lesley Van Arsdall. Even the weekend evening newscasts can't be like that. When it comes to those spots, you need to have male anchors to balance it out.

  5. Doesn't look like it and if memory serves me correctly believe this is the first time KPIX & KYW have sent anchors to guest host on the talk.

I'm not sure about KPIX, but KYW sent Ukee in 2013 and 2014, and Kate Bilo was sent in 2015.

  6. From what I've heard some Philadelphians don't like change. But for those out of area - what is the WaWa Welcome America Festival and was the WCAU broadcast that bad?

I wonder how much more Comcast, WCAU and WWSI bid for the contract to broadcast or of the organizers wanted to expand the reach of the special with a simulcast on Telemundo 62.

The Wawa Welcome America Festival is a concert held on the Ben Franklin Parkway every year. There are more events the week before like Wawa Hoagie Day on Independence Hall where everyone gets free hoagies for showing up. The WCAU broadcast wasn't bad, I think it just got boring and the lineup of musicians this year wasn't as familiar (although towards the end there were some great well-known groups). People were also mad because the roots didn't make their yearly performance on the show. If I were WCAU, I'd take it with a grain of salt due to the city's infamous bias and favoritism towards WPVI. 6abc didn't want it just like they didn't want the lottery rights because they probably think it isn't worth it, and in the end, 6abc is still winning.

  7. So apparently WCAU's Wawa Welcome America Festival coverage has ticked off a lot of people. Some want it back on 6abc, some can't find out the channel it's on because of their ignorance, among other complaints, courtesy of looking up keywords 6abc & #WawaWelcomeAmerica on Twitter.

Such Babies that I live right in the middle of.

  8. You are right. Cindy posted on her Facebook page last night that she's leaving weekend evenings for weekend mornings (presumably she'll be re-teamed with Andrea Grymes, with whom she anchored weekend mornings before Diane Macedo replaced Cindy in March 2014). I guess this also confirms that Jessica Moore will be anchoring weekend evenings.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this move. While I prefer Cindy in the morning, this seems like a demotion to me, and she had great chemistry with Elise Finch and Steve Overmyer. On the other hand, the weekend morning newscast is immediately strengthened with Cindy's return.

Yeah, but Cindy's been demoted a lot during her tenure at WCBS. I'm pretty sure she anchored weekday mornings in the late 90s. She's also anchored the noon and 5pm news at WCBS so it's nothing new, I guess she really doesn't mind.

  9. They'll probably never have one because it's better to complete when all the stations in NYC have news at noon, versus at 11am where you complete against The Price Is Right on WCBS and The View on WABC, both powerhouses in the market when it comes to network programming.

Most of the stations, not all. Sorry about that.

  10. All I was trying to say is that it is highly unlikely WNBC will do an 11 am just because the others O&Os have one. It just seems like everyone else wants the 11 a.m. so bad making it seem like they saw a press release or something. I also know that they are noon broadcast on the west and central zones. That's why I said MANY meaning not all.
