CBS is better then NBC and ABC which is more obvious however conservative news outlets are bias as well. What I am insulted with is how mainstream media works to dumb us down.Evening news covers the news that happened in 9AM. Why can't they come up with other news besides doing the same script. This just shows how fixed the news media has gotten. Catering to viewers, my foot. Most viewers are tune to what happened today but the evening news stays in the same box. Also, they work to stir your emotions not inform you why do you think things are so hyperpartisan. We are not living in an informative society but an emotional one that the mainsteam media continues to exploit.

I don't believe he should lose his job. Does not matter who you put on that network, the real issue that evening news does not want to address is that people see the evening news as formulaic and the same. Digital disruption has taken over traditional broadcasting and people don't feel obligated to do appointment television anymore. It is sign of the times, there is nothing wrong with Jeff Glor.

I think majority of it is affiliate related, cause where I live my ABC affiliate has the higher ratings. Most people don't change the channel cause they will end up getting the same news. Also the bad press that NBC got with Matt Lauer really impacted NBC and also the hiring of Megyn Kelly. A good number of viewers probably got tired of NBC's drama.

Why is Carson greedy for so many jobs, cris crossing back to LA and NYC and back. I don't care for Craig Melvin and to me he truly adds nothing to the show. Non of the hosts add anything, Today show is just fluff television. I stopped watching years ago but their juicy behind the scenes gossip is more interesting then the show and the hosts.

He may likely be, I don't understand the point of keeping Carson Daly on the show.

I don't watch the primetime coverage. They have been awful, the last five Olympics. I think it is because the Olympics now has become so political. It always was but it is in overdrive and it just pushes you away. There was a post on Business Insider that said that countries are not as excited bidding to host Olympics like they use to, they should just keep the Olympics at a certain location.
-
It's not that, I watch for the sports but to me it has been boring. I even thought the RIO games was boring as well.
-
Am I the only person not feeling the Olympics this year?

You can tell by looking at the interactions among the hosts, that the show was a clique. Certain people were favored more then others and that cultura was instigated by Lauer and Couric. Lauer became the worse cause he became a control freak and only wanted certain people.
-
Another reason why people don't like Megyn Kelly is that she thinks she can be the next Oprah. People see through her transparency, she has no likability qualities to really be on Oprah's level.

Networks are losing it's relevance. The fact that they are seamlessly doing so many personnel changes only shows how much network morning shows are only consumed by 5% of the population and that news matters more then the host. In reality you only need two people to make a program work. The extra people is only welfare to get people to be on air. Today and GMA talk and cover the most frivilous things, you really don't need a serious journalist on the program anymore. To a serious journalist being on Today and GMA is like taking a holiday from their normal routine. I have a feeling that anchors are soon going to be phased cause on Vice News they have the producers read the news. The producers are behind the scenes journalists who do the dirty work for the anchor. I think producers will take over news programs. Vice News gets more news out in 30 minutes then 2 hours of Today show and 22 minutes of evening news.

The newsreader position is a waste of time. The Today show flows better and is much faster pace without having a newsreader. The transitions is much easirer. To tell you the truth there is really no need for 7 people on these morning shows. I love the CBS format of only 3 people and no weather person.
-
I think we are overvaluing the Today show and it's personnel nowadays. The Today show is no longer a pivotal source of news and information. It is mainly an advertising block for their sponsors. The Today lost it's steam the last 10 years but after the rise of digital news, network morning television is not longer a vital source to pop culture. Nowadays, the need for a big time anchor is slowly fading especailly on Today show which is 10% news and the rest is all fluff. To me they should turn Today show into entertainment program. Non of the anchors are serious credible journalists. Give the bookings and interviews to the evening news anchor. Right now Lester is the top anchor at NBC and therefore should have more leverage to do bookings for interviews.
-
Do you think the Today ratings surge is short term or will they bounce back to second place.
-
NBC is definitely going to get rid of Lauer's memory and mark in the years to come. I think the Today show is going to focus more on it's array of on air talent then trying to make anchors into stars. Right now the news is star and not the anchors. To me, Today show should go back to basics, focus on news and human interest. Stop trying to make the hosts interesting and make them stars. There seems to be no rush to have a male co-anchor. Network morning news nowadays is cotton candy programming.
-
I don't mind Hoda becoming the co-anchor. She will make the morning show less pretentious and plus guys like Craig Melvin and Willie Geist are not proven yet to handle the pressure. My preferred choice would be Lester Holt but that is impossible and he seems to like being on evening news. Evening news has better stability and more freedom for him to do what he wants. Whereas on Today show there are more limitations cause it is multi-cast.

There have been reports that CBS wants to get Oprah on CBS This Morning. They should poach someone like TJ Holmes or get if they want another female, Soledad O Brien or Ann Curry would be the ultimate redemption story.
-
Jeff Glor is around the same age as David Muir so they want to project the news anchor as being virile. To be honest Jeff Glor does not have the same reporting and experience like Holt and Muir. Jeff Glor has no specialty and the fact that he got the job shows that CBS might be thinking less of the prominence of their evening news. Their bread and butter is 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning.

They need to get Matt Lauer out of there. He is shrinking down Today show and NBC News. The more they keep him there, the likely that NBC will go down to third place. Today's show shrinking ratings is affecting all NBC news show. Al Roker is old news, he is not a meterologist he is nothing but a senile glorified clown. I go through days where I say to myself get this old clown off my television. I was very impressed with Dylan's coverage during Hurricane Harvey with Lester. I am okay with her being a permanent weather woman. The should phase Lauer out after the Olympics, they can rotate male anchors. It won't make much a difference cause Lauer is so unpopular.
-
I agree but I think NBC might be grooming Megyn to take Matt's job. To me Today show has been losing momentum the past 8 years but this the worse crew on Today show now. Al Roker needs to retire, talk about a played out character. Matt Lauer needs to go he is like a rotted fish.
-
Guys I speculate there might be more to the Megyn Kelly deal then just the talk show. I specualte that in reality NBC is probably behind her because they want to groom her for the Today show. Their main objective is getting Matt Lauer out of the NBC. He costs too much money, ratings decline and he is unpopular. Lauer has ruined people's careers who who were being groomed to replace him. NBC is behind Megyn cause they have a long term plan, she has a bit of name and she is a female. Whereas the rest of the other hosts being groomed in the past were male. Lauer can't play politics with her like he did with the previous hosts.

Savannah Guthrie celebrate five years at Today show.

The On Assignment newsmagazine had legs that NBC could work with. On Assignment on NBC did so much better then Megyn Kelly's newsmagazine. The problem is that NBC always wants to compete with 60 Minutes, they should give it up. There is only one 60 Minutes. Greta is a weak broadcaster, she worked at Fox News cause she was not threatening and she had that twang which appealed to a certain audience. She was placed in a bad time slot, the 6:00 time slot is the worse time slot in cable news. No show that is on the 6:00 hour does well on MSNBC. I am surprised Al Sharpton's show did as well as it did. Cable newsers are competing against evening news and evening news brings in millions of viewers a night. Greta had no chance and also she probably left cause she knew trouble was brewing with the scandals and she did not want to be a apart of it.

Katy Tur got her career started by dating Keith Olbermann. Peter Alexander ocassionally fills in and sometimes Kristen Welker. The one person I don't mind seeing on MSNBC is Harris Faulkner from Fox, she seems like a decent journalist who is just doing what she has to do. I don't get a radical nut job vibe from her like the loons on Fox.
-
Her ego and high confidence in herself. She will probably turn off people cause she is full of herself. She does not have a cool sister factor like Wendy Williams, a mother like vibe of Oprah or even a cutesy vibe of Kelly Ripa. I don't know what she will represent. They can give her the stars, the moon, the Today show or give her an Hollywood audition just don't mess with Lester Holt and his job security. He has been their blood, bones and vitality for that network. Highly respected among viewers, revered and history making journalist and possible historical figure in his industry. Lester has surpassed the level of his other peers in terms of his importance and significigance to their industry. Lack can't be stupid enough to play politics and push him aside like he can with the rest of his talent. If he does that, then he will risk boycotts and riots and viewers leaving in drove. That boycott outside of News Corp is nothing compared to what will happen if Lack decides to mess with Lester.
