  1. The. issue is studio space and timing. KYW, WJZ, WBZ, WBBM etc. all broadcast news at the same time as WCBS. It made more sense to move it to KCBS. KCBS probably has more network capabilities too, so all the throws to local reporters in the fields, weather etc. were seamless. It's no different than if the CBS Evening News originated from LA. The systems probably are in place. Although many groan about the standardized look of many CBS and NBC O&O's, to the casual viewer you would not have known that the broadcast originated in LA. NBC has other options - in the past they have used CNBC's HQ in Englewood Cliffs, or Telemundo 47 in Fort Lee when 30 Rock has had an issue that prevented the use of the studio. They also have SNY as an option too as NBCSports is a part owner. CBS does not have those options as they are clustered on W57th street.
  2. The Hollywood Reporter states a third CBS employee has tested positive. Hopefully all three are able to recover fully.
  3. More details including the full letter from CBS News President regarding what happened. https://deadline.com/2020/03/coronavirus-cbs-news-staffers-test-positive-susan-zirinsky-new-york-1202880034/
  4. Her bio is still up and her Twitter feed is active. I suspect she is taking time off to be with her husband now that the NFL season is over. A bi-coastal marriage is not easy.
  5. They said it was a special edition due to the impeachment trial when mentioned during the 6 pm newscast. They may be testing the waters (again).
  6. She was also the daughter in law of the LSU offensive coordinator.
  7. He joined WFXT, the Cox owned Boston Fox affiliate in August.
  8. RNN is a useless slot on the Altice cable line up. All they show are informercials. And although the signal is in HD, most of what they "broadcast" is not. I guess the mark ups from what people buy and the share the French family gets in addition to the paid time justifies the cost of broadcasting.
  9. Exactly, especially this time of year when anchors and reporters are trying to use up vacation time, just like everyone else that works. NBC just explained his absence. Ushery was inducted in the Silver Circle of NY Broadcasters today, why he was off at noon, as was many of the regular staff. Congratulations David.
  10. David Ushery is anchoring with Stacey Bell at 5. Janice Huff is doing weather.
  11. News12 New Jersey switched to the new logo and modified graphics online today.
  12. No change to News12NJ on air look
  13. Yes, the NJ website has a new look. However the older News12 logo is used, as it is on air. Only the graphic on Altice One menu's is the new one. I checked out the Cheddar website but it appears different. No change to on air graphics or look.
  14. Yes that is one of the Altice One menu pages.
  15. Their, not there. It reminds me of the Cheddar logo as well which makes sense. I noticed it on my Altice One guide on Monday. I have not noticed it on air on News12NJ as of yet.
  16. Another new reporter, Anjali Hemphill. From what I could see she came from WTTG (Fox) in DC.
  17. WNBC has named a new weekend anchor, coming from the CBS O&O in Dallas. She begins Nov. 4. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/more-news/240112/gilma-avalos-named-wnbc-weekend-evening-news-anchor/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Gilma+Avalos+Named+WNBC+Weekend+Evening+News+Anchor&utm_campaign=Nexstar+%26+Sook%3a+TVN's+Station+Group+Of+The+Year
  18. That is not true. Department stores like Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Best Buy, PC Richard and Son, and others continue to advertise in my local paper. Not as much as they used to.
  19. As I said it is a vicious circle they have created. Cut reporters and columnists, many long time favorites, cut content, lose subscribers, then lose advertising. It's not a good model. Once GateHouse takes over, I'll probably drop my subscription too.
  20. Be careful what you wish for. This merger is not good news for journalism or its readers. GateHouse basically kills newspapers, eliminating most staff, cut content and include much less locally generated stories. They bought the paper where I grew up, and it is a shadow of itself. Their website also has a draconian fire wall, 3 here articles a month. That's all. Gannett bought my local paper 2 years ago (the Bergen/North Jersey Record) they, got rid of a good portion of the staff, cut content but is still better than a GateHouse run paper. Sadly, when GateHouse managers take over, which they will considering New Media/GateHouse is buying Gannett but using the name for the combined operation, even worse cuts are going to be made that will beg the question: why bother subscribing anymore. Operators like GateHouse have made a vicious cycle. If they invested, beefed up local reporting, then they too can have a renaissance like the Post or Times. The DOJ approving this merger is the death of many more local papers. I'd rather have a Newhouse/Advance paper despite the cuts made at the Star Ledger. It's still much better than the Record under Gannett's stewardship.
  21. Of the choices of Sinclair, Nexstar, Tegna and Scripps - they actually ended up with the better owner of those 4. Tegna is ruining all their stations (WXIA, KSDK, among more). Nexstar, like Sinclair only knows to cut, cut, cut. Hopefully there is no movement on changing ownership rules considering the obsolete UHF discount was restored, which allowed this deal and Nexstar does not take over.
  22. For the first time in 71 years, WPIX is under new ownership. As of today, it is part of Scripps Television Stations, one of the spin offs from the Tribune/Nexstar merger (thank goodness). https://pix11.com/2019/09/19/wpix-under-new-ownership-for-first-time-in-71-year-history-acquired-by-e-w-scripps/
  23. New meteorologist Matt Brickman made his inaugural broadcast on tonight's 6 pm broadcast.
  24. Fox5, WNYW has made it official on the new anchor team for Good Day Wake Up: https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/238966/new-co-hosts-for-wnyws-good-day-wake-up/?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=New+Co-Hosts+For+WNYW’s+‘Good+Day+Wake+Up’&utm_campaign=Meredith%2c+Dish+Reach+New+Retrans+Deal
