KTVU Noon 7/1993 - from the early-mid 90s period they used Brave New World for the Noon and early evening weekend newscast

They were still using tube cameras in 1993? Look at that characteristic “smearing” of the ambulance lights at the beginning.

  2. Here’s something a little unusual. Back in 1996, WAGA had a story on the making of Cartoon Network’s hit show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast! Features footage of George Lowe (the voice of Space Ghost) recording his lines, as well as the writer’s meeting and animation process.

“News People” is one of my favorite news themes. Here’s an instrumental cut from the package as used by WIS-TV in their morning sign-on from 1980:

    WNAC news, 1980:

Why am I posting this? Because today marks 40 years since the April Fools prank where they reported that the Great Blue Hill ski resort was erupting.

I really hope that somebody out there saved footage of that prank. But hey, if the BBC was able to save their “spaghetti trees” footage, then I’m sure the Great Blue Hill thing is around somewhere.

Anyway, back on topic, the user known as “btm0815ma” has been uploading some

great stuff lately. One of which being this newscast where Dan Rather talks about a recent incident where he was assaulted on the street by a crazy person. Although not mentioned here, the perpetrator allegedly said to him, “Kenneth, what is the frequency?”, which later inspired the name of a popular R.E.M. song.

Speaking of Dan Rather, here’s one of the newscasts that led to his downfall as CBS’s lead anchor, in which he shared fabricated documents about George W. Bush’s army career.

Even more interesting on that KJRH tape - there's a cut of Finale used in one of the weather promos.

The long-gone cable news channel Capital News 9 used that same cut for their weather reports. Jeez, it’s been years since I last heard that music.

not much to say about this one and I know I'm at the tail end of the acceptable years for classic video but i'm just surprised that WCIA was using the old WBBM graphics in 2007. who else was usin these? also really vibin with the enforcer cut in this close.

we finally have nexstar endboards showin up in chicago and it'll always feel weird to me bc i associate seein those with being downstate, lol.

WRGB also used these for a while.

And off the heels of the loss of Cokie Roberts, it's being reported that former NBC and ABC correspondent Sander Vanocur has passed away at 91.

    https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/veteran-television-newsman-sander-vanocur-dies-91-65675917

Among the things Sander was known for would include being a panelist on the first Kennedy-Nixon debate and being the last surviving member of the "Four Horsemen", as NBC used to call their 1960s convention floor quartet of Vanocur, Frank McGee, John Chancellor and Edwin Newman.

He was also the news anchor in the 1994 film, Without Warning, which is where I mostly know him from.
