  1. The Rincon stations have been using the WHBQ Fox Memphis graphics. In another thread, some Sinclair —> Rincon station rebranded and used the same graphics. When Imagicomm had KIEM in Eureka (now owned by Marquee), they used WHBQ weathercasters for a time and these graphics would pop up in those segments.
  2. With the FOX Memphis graphics which are a tad better than Sinclair’s
  3. Makes me wonder if JKOC had enough and bounced — and this is their interim solution. It is odd for there to be just sports cutaways and not news cutaways in these types of small-market arrangements, which makes me think this was unplanned and interim. If I gambled, I’d gamble on permanency unfortunately.
  4. I was surprised to see JKO in Yakima. Didn’t seem his style. He was in Eureka, CA before where he anchored every weekday newscast, morning and night. It is a beautiful place. He seems to like the small markets.
  5. Morgan Murphy’s largest market is Spokane at 66, Madison is at 77.
  6. At risk of violating any list rules, KREM aired the Nexstar tag at 5:30 on KSKN.
  7. The 11PM edition uses the more-familiar, authoritative sounding version that is on all the other stations thus far. The earlier evening version does not tie to what, assumedly, are the morning and night themes that the other stations air.
  8. KXLY appears to be the originator of the update and executes much better. There are still elements of the old package appearing, including the 2-box. KAPP/KVEW should’ve followed their big sister’s lead and copied the look completely. I also wish they’d drop the “Apple Valley” thing and just be KAPP (cap) KVEW (K-view) News Now like they were. These are the best graphics in the market — they’re up against the tired Sinclair graphics on KIMA/KEPR and whatever crap Cowles makes in-house on KNDO/U.
  9. Speaking of canceled and changing newscasts — news out of Spokane, WA (DMA 66) — where 2 out of 3 late 11pm newscasts are now pre-recorded. KHQ, the locally-owned market leader, lost their contract to provide the FOX station its 10PM news among others. So, what do they do … launch a streaming 9PM and re-air it on TV at 11PM. KREM, owned by TEGNA, has been re-airing the 10PM from their sister at 11PM for like a year. Half a million households (if that many were watching — and only a tiny fraction are) — only have one choice for live news at 11PM. KHQ also cancelled their 4:30AM for a streaming 7AM which really isn’t a big deal and are airing the pre-recorded 11PM in an adjacent market. Cheap, cheap, cheap
  10. TEGNA sister KREM in Spokane does the same with its 12:30 and 5:30 newscasts — streaming and on KSKN 22
  11. KTVB Boise is rolling with the new look. Longer opens ala KING during the daytime and shorter opens at night ala KGW. The look works for them.
  12. KLEW is in the Spokane market (although it services a tiny corner of it as the 2nd CBS affiliate in the market); you won’t see KXLY on a subchannel. What I think will happen is the closer KIMA/KEPR will do the KLEW news (all three owned by Sinclair but operated by Rincon).
  13. This open does not have the same music or signature as the other stations that have debuted.
  14. Morning shows for Montana moved back to Billings in 2025. Evenings from Missoula. Have to rein myself in as not to go off topic in a Sinclair thread.
  15. It’s happened - Rincon ending KAYU’s approximately 20 year relationship with KHQ/Cowles providing morning & 10pm newscasts. Moving to KXLY as the supplier on March 1. Makes me wonder what KHQ is going to do with their anchors they provided solely for KAYU.
