Doug Dunbar has solo-anchored newscasts at KTVT off/on in the past. I haven't heard whether KTVT has solo-anchor plans for any of their other newscasts outside of their morning news.

I'm guessing poor little lonely Glendive is still at #210. Big jump in 1 years' time for Tyler-Longview. And 134,000 more HH in DFW--understandable, with the amount of people that are moving there.

I'm afraid you're right. Lots of changes since the Belo sale. They will probably try to spin otherwise during their upcoming anniversary special. I don't think WFAA has ever aired a court show before, if they have, I don't remember it.

That's gonna be weird to only have 1 all-news station (WINS 1010/92.3) in NYC. Very sad for WCBS, after all the decades they've been around. I guess they'll have a big on-air sendoff, like WNBC did in the 80s when they flipped to WFAN.

WFAA assisted KHOU (both being Tegna stations) during/after Hurricane Harvey. KHOU's proximity to Buffalo Bayou resulted in massive flooding and eventual relocation to an office complex on Houston's west side. In the interim, WFAA provided control room and other connecting functions (KUHT, Houston's PBS station, had studio space for KHOU to use for local newscasts).

The few times I've seen their newsroom on air, it looks worse IMO than the news set does. Lots of wires that should be hidden, ceiling tiles not completely in place or missing, just sad looking--especially in comparison to the other local newsgatherers.

After almost 3 years, KVUT decided to call it a day on May 24 (last Friday evening). In local media articles posted online, no real reason was given for the move, but it was most likely a financial decision. By the tone of the quotes from UT-Tyler, it sounds like the university was the primary funder of KVUT, and not as much from listeners. The station's website and its content is already gone, and trying to click the website now gets a redirect to UT-Tyler's main website. With the loss of KVUT, it means the loss of a job for longtime TV newsman Mike Landess, who had been doing newsbits and longform interviews of local notables for the station. It is a bit strange. Different stations have different uses for "sister" stations. Most I hear using it are addressing another O/O, another same-company-owned station, and much more rarely, a fellow network affiliate. More often, I hear "_(network)_ station" or "_(network)_ affiliate" by a station to refer to another same-network station, if the station doesn't say the other station's call letters directly.

A sad day at KXAS. Bobbie Wygant, who was a lifestyle/entertainment reporter, host, and even commercial pitch person back to the station's earliest days as WBAP, has passed. Bobbie had her own daytime midday show called Dateline for many years. She participated in the local Jerry Lewis telethon segments for several of the years that KXAS carried the telethon. She had a longer presence in Dallas-Fort Worth media than anyone else.
