Nexstar tried "easttexasmatters.com" at KETK and KFXK for a while, but thankfully (and quietly) brought on the easier ketk.com and previous fox51.com domains instead in recent months.

Longtime north TX TV/radio personality and early 1980s-era KDFW meteorologist Jocelyn White has passed. She was 68. https://dallas.culturemap.com/news/society/04-18-21-jocelyn-white-designing-texas-equest/

Thanks for the update, I didn't think to look at his Twitter.

KFDA weatherman Cameron Venable has announced his departure from the station. He'll be moving to Wichita, where he will get in some storm chasing. He didn't mention what station he'd end up at. https://www.newschannel10.com/2021/04/09/good-news-meteorologist-cameron-venable-embarks-new-career-journey/

Meanwhile, KYTX's previous chief, Joel Barnes, reported on his Twitter that he didn't stay at KYTX. He will now be chief meteorologist at WBBJ in Jackson, TN, and get started in the next couple of weeks there.

He also co-anchored at KAMR for a time. Sad news.

Friday, KDFW marked reporter Shaun Rabb's 30 years with the station. Not many clips of Rabb with his now-trademark fedora, but they didn't let him finish the interview without his signature closing ("Fox 4 ..... News"). Congrats Shaun on 30 years. https://www.fox4news.com/video/875235

Sad news from Amarillo, as former longtime KAMR weatherman Roy McCoy has passed away. He was 87. https://www.myhighplains.com/news/local-news/roy-mccoy-amarillo-forecasting-pioneer-dies-at-87/

Earlier today I saw an FB post by Ashley Claster. She is saying that the DFW area is getting a Spectrum News 1 channel starting the middle of next month. So far I'm only finding more social media about it from her, although she claims another reporter has been hired to work with her. Her FB post shows a picture of Ashley holding a Spectrum News microphone. Her Twitter post shows a pic of Ashley holding a Spectrum News 1 cap and standing in front of the downtown Dallas skyline. I'd like to hope this is true, but her posts seem to be the only thing I'm finding about a DFW news channel launch.

I remember back when KDFW was a CBS station, they'd buy up Dallas Cowboys tickets so there wouldn't be a blackout. Sometimes there was anyway; many with antennas would try to swivel them around to try to pick up KXII from Sherman, or even KLTV (back in their cherry-picking days) in Tyler.

New D Magazine article online interviewing Perry Sook. I haven't read it yet to see if it's just fluffy or if it actually has some newsbits in it. https://www.dmagazine.com/business-economy/2020/05/d-ceos-may-2020-digital-edition-now-available/ ETA:::: Sorry, didn't realize the first link was an intro. This one takes you to it, but it's digital pages, not text (sorry again). Flip to "pages" 34-35. https://issuu.com/dceo/docs/dceo_0520

And after all that big buildup about their show having an audience...

The only mark I've seen, and it's only been recently, is when KXAS displays their (IMO unnecessary) tagline, "Texas Connects Us", underneath the title of their newscasts during each open. The mark is next to the tagline, not next to the station logo.
-
Would be nice to know what their plans are for those stations, including KFWD.
-
Would be interesting to see if Local-ish is eventually made available to other ABC stations besides the O/O's.

Brian James, a KXAS meteorologist, has accepted a meteorological position with Tenet Healthcare. His last day at KXAS will be January 22.

Circle is on in DFW, KTXA (21.4) has it. I checked before 5am this morning, they were airing Hee Haw. I checked TitanTV also and Circle is listed; hopefully the schedule is correct.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
east-tx-tv replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
I'm fairly certain (even though I have no ratings numbers) that Tegna did KYTX no favors in the "let's get rid of every recognizable long-time anchor and replace them with a bunch of no-name/talking-heads" mess, and likely gave away much of the viewership they'd built up over the years, to longtime ratings-topper KLTV.- 3653 replies

Former WFAA health reporter Janet St. James was interviewed on the Facebook video podcast "Morning After with Ron & Alexa" recently (Ron and Alexa are Ron Corning and Alexa Conomos, themselves former WFAA anchors). St. James now has metastatic breast cancer, diagnosed after taking a back-office position with a local Dallas hospital. She had worked at WFAA for 19 years. St. James is remarkably open and positive, despite her prognosis. Of course, my very best to Janet and her family. https://www.facebook.com/100000005091243/posts/2909584935718314/

KXAS should be very fortunate there were no deaths. I'm sure if there were quite a number injured/killed there might be a different opinion towards them. I was surprised, before I went to work that night, that it was just the game and a little corner graphic, no cut ins while I had it on. Meanwhile, KDFW showed a red-by-green possible tornado signature on their radar. If the late/great Harold Taft were still around, there would have been more than a small corner graphic on KXAS.

Congrats, wow your cake does cover a few bases (and I guess there's a pun in there somewhere ), but I'm sorry, what am I missing with the badminton shuttlecock?
-
As the revolving door turns.... the DFW market loses yet another, as KXAS reporter Tim Ciesco decides to leave the building. He's accepted a media position with the police department in Arlington, not too many miles from the KXAS studio/office complex.

Has it started yet? Guess I'll need to re-scan now or soon.

UncleBarky is reporting that Jeff Jamison will be departing KTVT soon after 16 years there. The station meteorologist isn't revealing yet what he'll be doing next. Of the current group of KTVT's weatherfolks, Jamison had been there the longest. https://www.unclebarky.com/dfw_files/dad2625b3368621cc5016cce66343710-4465.html
