  1. I wonder who did the WESH 1997 NewsChannel 2 graphics?, considering the fact that it was a carbon copy of WTVJ NBC6 graphics (which was done by Novocom) at the same time. Though most of the Pulitzer-owned stations relied on jcbD Design (jacob christopher burns Design) for their news graphics and station look.

  2. Any idea as to who did the WBRE NBC28 news graphics in the late 90s, or was in done in-house? Despite the fact that it used the Background template used by some NBC affiliates at the time (As well as the WMGM NBC40 news open around the time). WBRE's open is clocked here at 25:16-25:55

It was sometime during the Summer of 1998 when WBRE-TV switched news music packages from Gari's "The One & Only" to "Image News" (which was more common with the Hearst-Argyle stations at the time) and got new graphics, one video from May 19th that year showed the old graphics and music being used. Another from later on in the year (August 27th) showed the new graphics and theme used.

  3. Any idea as to who did the pre-1998 WEWS graphics?, it lasted until they got rid of the longtime "Circle 5" logo (which lasted for over 30 years) and replaced it with a new logo and graphics done by Novocom.

They debuted the Novocom graphics around late April 1998. But according to a comment on YouTube, they kept the 1995 set until it was replaced in October that year.

Pinnacle was formed by Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon when they left Non-Stop Music. It composed KSL/KSFY 1998. Lenhart is credited with no other news themes, but he composed a backing track for the Children's Miracle Network telethons run in recent years and composed for various video games on which Bestor and Cardon were involved. I suspect this is the 1998 theme.

Actually the KSL 1998 theme debuted in January 1997 when they received new graphics. Although it was done by Pinnacle, it still used the logo from Non-Stop's "Broadcast News" (KSL version).

I was working on 2000-2003 newscasts - and was finishing up posting the late 90s I had already converted and uploaded.

the good news is that I don’t have to convert the files - the archive will ingest native MPEG-2 files, so I’m just uploading directly.  But I’m also consolidating things onto a new storage device on my network (and renaming them, so there’s consistency and easier searchability on my part…). Stuff is spread across multiple hard drives as it is right now…

i hope to post more this weekend, after my work project settles down…

My focus in uploading is working forward from oldest to newest, but keeping everything older than 10 years old…

Compubit, as you stated in one of your comments. Your original plan was to upload 200 videos by Labor Day (Monday, September 6th) which is almost nearing around the corner.

I’m uploading as much as I can in my spare time.  So far I have 90 newscasts uploaded, mostly 88-92 timeframe and am now working on the 93-95 window.  My goal is to have 200 uploaded by Labor Day.  I just missed posting a couple of “30 Years Ago Today” newscasts on the actual day (Doh!).  After about 95, I’ll have to start digitizing from tape until about 1999, where I have quite a few digitized already…

But please tell me compubit, which videos were you in the process of uploading when your Vimeo account was suspended?

  7. Most of the Pulitzer-owned stations used jcbD Design for their news graphics as mentioned earlier (KOAT, WYFF, KCCI, WDSU, WXII, WGAL etc...). By 1998, all of Pulitzer's stations & properties were bought and sold to Hearst-Argyle Television (then owners of WCVB, WISN, WTAE, KMBC, WDTN, WBAL, WAPT, KITV, WPBF, WNAC Fox64 and several others).

I have no idea who made the call on closing my account.  Vimeo hasn't responded to my request - granted it was using the "Help" form on their page.  Their page says "Email Us", yet they don't provide an email address.  Most of their contact is accessible when logged in - and I can't log in...

I'm pissed - 4 years worth of work spent uploading stuff is all gone...

I'm just going to focus on the internet archive - and only stuff over 10 years old (I'll keep collecting current stuff, as that 10 year window keeps moving forward...  At this point, if folks download content, so be it.  I just want to share all that I have captured and collected over the years.  I guarantee, like you said @VHSgoodiesWA, I doubt the local stations have any of this content in their archives - it takes a lot of space and time to manage, and with cost cutting measures everyone seems to be putting in place, a lot of the history is moot to them...

Well you also take donations at the moment, I know a station that had kept their news archives (KSBW Action News 8). But unfortunately they're unable to grant me access. We all know you're on Internet Archive now and you're starting over.

  9. Do you know which agency did the pre-Hearst WPTZ graphics?, WPTZ was one of the few Sinclair-owned NBC stations, they sold WPTZ/WNNE and the WFFF (FOX44 Plattsburgh) LMA to Sunrise Television (who in turn sold it to Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. which the swap becoming official on July 2nd, 1998).

  10. As someone already mentioned in this thread, LoConte Goldman Design did the Hearst-Argyle camera mandate for their stations including WCVB 5 (ABC), WTAE 4 (ABC), WDTN 2 (ABC-now NBC) and WBAL 11 (NBC) which were only stations using it at that point (June 1998). WDTN 2 continued using it for several years, even after Hearst-Argyle sold the station to Sunrise Television (in exchange for KSBW and WPTZ).
