This is actually their second attempt at a Spanish newscast. When they launched a Spanish-language network Mundo Fox, they had a newscast from Los Angeles, launched in 2012. The network was co-owned by Colombia's RCN Television. The newscasts was canceled when Fox divested itself from the network in 2015.

An example from New York, was when Fox 5 WNYW had an internet outage back in 2018, which led to the 5PM and 6PM news replaced with informercials. Shepard Smith anchored the 10pm news that night, with Fox News Channel staff assuming technical responsibilities until the issues were rectified. Well, KSWB San Diego is channel 69, but brands on air as "Fox 5 San Diego". Same goes for KNSD Channel 39, which calls itself "NBC 7 San Diego"
