WFIE is taking an interesting approach and using their new honeycomb graphics for 95% of news; for high school football coverage, they are using the WMC style lower thirds and colors.
-
Well, WFIE has finally ditched the old Raycom graphics and moved over to Gray graphics. They're still using old versions of their logo on the weather bug and time/temp bug; it would look better flat and possibly all white in a gray/black translucent background. Many of the new graphics focus solely on the 14 and ditch the NBC peacock. Apologies for the poor screengrabs.
-
Well… WFIE has upgraded the weather graphics, or should I say just the 7 day graphics. Lots of VR in the weather hits now.
-
I think WFIE is preparing to take the NBC logo out of their branding when they eventually flip. The new website banner lacks the peacock and their Roku graphics seem to lack the peacock in most places too.

WFIE back in their main studio today with completed lighting upgrades. Video wall installed. Still on Raycom graphics for the most part.

Dan Katz is retiring from WFIE after 27 years anchoring "Sunrise." Tanner Holbrook will move to weekday mornings. https://www.facebook.com/dan.katz.7739/posts/428571045520225

Yes, WSAZ. I'm seeing elements of both packages is what's weird.

WFIE has moved to a new set and is teasing improvements with a "lighting upgrade" in the studio, but more so in terms of graphics, they have updated the Gray ticker to more frequent use and some of their in-house commercials look to be featuring some of the elements that KFVS, WSAV, and WXIX have in their new graphics. Only time will tell...

WEHT/WTVW pushing it on FB Live. https://fb.watch/6bn7FgGiVf/

Might be a glitch in preparing to possibly launch new graphics, but WFIE has had this extra time/temp on the lower right corner of the screen at the start of their 10:00 news tonight. Disappeared after the first break when the Gray weather ticker appeared. Source: smartphone camera on OTA signal

WEHT/WTVW still use TriStateHomePage.com as their awful address, but it's not the worst I've seen. I also don't understand why they toss to reporters like this: "Eyewitness News' John Doe has the story." instead of "Eyewitness News reporter John Doe has the story." It sounds wrong when they say it that way, even if the possessive (s') is there in writing. And another dumb thing for WEHT/WTVW... their top-hour ID on their Eyewitness News shows on WTVW shows the WEHT station-ID. I mentioned this to them almost two years ago and it's never changed.

WFIE's bug fades between the main logo for 14 NEWS, the Amazon Fire TV app, Apple TV app, and Roku TV app. I think WAVE's does too.
-
WFIE's old "14Production" unit still posts a lot of their video they end up porting to Facebook on Vimeo. They posted this recently. I have to wonder if they won't do any graphics upgrades until they do this renovation/installation:
-
I saw this today at noon and it's making me think they're just going to hold off until they do any construction to build a new set. The set is at least ten years old except for some updated duratrans and weather branding. They are using some of the AR features that the already upgraded stations are using during weather. WFIE is just "landlocked" in an aging building.
-
As of tonight, WFIE is still operating on the Raycom graphics and this promo is only still on Vimeo. Hasn't appeared to run on TV or on their social sites.
-
Looks like WFIE is getting ready to switch based on this new promo on their Vimeo page...plus another newscast...
-
Agreed. I talked to an anchor at WFIE who has heard absolutely nothing and they are wondering too. The weather graphics on WFIE - the L3 weather ticker during forecasts - has been updated to the white/Helvetica/blue to match WMC and others. So maybe they are going that route long term?
-
If WFIE got the WAVE graphics, I'd be happy. I'm not expecting it though.
-
So ready for WFIE to have an overhaul to the Gray graphics. They're running some weird mix of graphics at times, especially during weather. Haven't been able to get a screengrab but occasionally using Arial Black as the font for some graphics and it looks bad.
-
WFIE has been using the Gray ticker while also using Raycom L3s and opens/title cards. They are really due for a full set remodel. They got new backdrops a few years ago but the studio itself is probably from 2009-11 timeframe.
