  1. Maybe if Zucker leaves, maybe the new CEO will fix all the problems he created.
  2. WTOL, which used to be a sister to WOIO under Raycom, is the same way with anchors and reporters leaving after a short time. Their main competitor, WTVG, doesn't really have this problem.
  3. it looks like ESPN may possibly have more layoffs (possibly up to 700). You may remember ESPN's layoffs from 2017 caused longtime on-air employees to lose their jobs. https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/further-espn-layoffs-coming.html
  4. I feel bad for Brooke. I think she has more longevity on CNN compared to Kate or Brianna. I've said before that Zucker is the main problem with why CNN is going downhill. The whole yelling panels haven't worked. As for all new anchors, I would really hate to see staples like Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper leave, although Wolf will probably retire in 5 years or less. (he says he's not ready yet). I think Erin Burnett is better for financial news and always thought she was better at CNBC. I know many people think Jake Tapper should have been the permanent host for "This Week" 10 years ago. Chris Cuomo seems burned out but wants to stay at CNN. I'm not sure about what Don Lemmon would do, maybe anchor at MSNBC. I wish AT&T would realize that Zucker has ruined nearly everything he's touched in his career and force him to resign, but instead they let him run all of their sports broadcasting divisions too. I'm not sure if he's ruined those assets too.
  5. It seems like a demotion for Brooke if this it's what's happening here. I think she has more name recognition over Brianna and Kate.
  6. I feel really bad for Brooke right now. I know Jake's very qualified for the job, but it looks like Brooke has no say in this whole thing. This seems possibly very shady. They also mention Erin Burnett. Does she even do anything else besides anchoring OutFront or moderating debates on occasion? She seemed to do much more with CNBC compared to now on CNN.
  7. About DIsh, I've always enjoyed their service, but I'm really getting tired of their disputes. I've had them for over 15 years. They claim that networks want to charge them much higher prices, which I don't agree with. But it seems like whenever a dispute happens, most of the time, channels get dropped. And with 7 disputes going on with them, I refuse to believe that it's just the owners of stations, and that Dish has to be part of the problem. It seems like you don't hear about much disputes with Comcast/Xfinity.
  8. Watched the premiere tonight. Shep seemed very happy to be back on the air again. There was a 50/50 mix of CNBC talent and NBC News talent. It's been a few weeks since I watched NewsNation, so I'm not sure if "The News" is better than NewsNation or not. I wish Shep the best of luck too!
  9. I agree. With antennas becoming more popular, why not move all the games over the air for free like they did in the old days, and have the teams themselves produce the games?
  10. RSN's are only good for live sports and team-centric shows, All other content is a dumping ground for stuff that few people care about, like golf tours and air racing, along with low-budget documentaries. Move it all to streaming services and just focus on live sports. All RSN's are a big waste outside of live sports.
  11. It looks like we'll see a lot of CNBC talent who have experience as regular journalists doing general news. I'll definitely tune in tomorrow.
  12. Yes indeed. He was the biggest person responsible for the Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien controversy, and made NBC have a bad reputation during that time, and he's doing the same to CNN. I have heard many CNN employees were happy about his arrival. Did they not realize his time at NBCUniversal, and how disastrous it was?
  13. The New York Times had an article about Zucker's fallout with Trump. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson decided to keep him in 2018. People in the business gave two theories on why the network's so obsessed with Trump. One theory is that Zucker just wants anything outrageous for ratings. The 2nd theory is that he's just wanting to take him down. It does mention that Zucker's never been a hard news person, and only cares about ratings, corporate success and trying to win. A former NBC exec said that Zucker's quench for ratings blinded him to the point of nonstop coverage. He said it's one thing if you have a thirst for ratings but it's entirely different for news. ABC exec Ben Sherwood on the other hand basically defended him talks about how he's a great man. I prefer the former's statement over the latter.
  14. I've seen Dan a few times on GMA Weekend and think he does a great job there. I'm more of a fan of the calm style delivery of news, but I'm guessing more people prefer the more urgent, "shouting" delivery of the news. At least Muir only does it for the opening headlines.
  15. As soon as the ratings go down, something may change. As much as how David speaks dramatically, I think Tom Llamas is even more dramatic and always sounds like he's doing a Shatner impression. Even his facial looks on the air aren't natural. I wish they brought Dan Harris back to weekends, or even give Whit Johnson a chance.
  16. I think both Amy and T.J. are a great pair. That being said, I'm not sure if the hard news hour will be a long term-thing. I wouldn't be surprised if ABC goes back to lifestyle and entertainment when the news cycle is less busy compared to now with the election and the pandemic.
  17. I agree, but ABC probably won't change anything.
  18. How about Norah in Washington and Jeff Glor in New York?
  19. I too am glad that ABC brought back the world headquarters phrase in the open.
  20. The intro reminds me of the Diane Sawyer intro from 2009. I really like the new VO artist too. Always liked that theme over the new theme. I hope they bring back the old ending with the Times Square live photo and the same theme as well.
  21. The lower thirds probably might change, but I wouldn't be surprised to see entirely new graphics by next year except the new opening title card return of the old theme. I bet the current package stays intact for the remainder of the year.
  22. I like the new darker logo and set. It has to be not long before there's completely new graphics. They've had the same graphics for nearly 5 years now.
  23. I think the new logo is half Vistaprint, half Vagisil and half Valvoline all in one. Even Vagisil's logo rips off the Valvoline colors.
  24. Nice to see Sara back. The logo is OK but looks very modern, similar to a lot of recent logo changes.
