  1. This is like going from MG’s last graphics package (WCMH, WFLA, WKRN) to Nexstar NBC graphics, a package that is the symbol of failure. Great job, Gray.
  2. Not really, the WOIO and Meredith graphics are the most “large-market” looks they have.
  3. With that crappy encoder and VHF? No way!
  4. Local graphics as well. Matt Quinn and his division of Hothaus are in Cleveland, where there is a Gray station in that market (WOIO) which is how this thread started.
  5. I wish there was a “disgusted” reaction on this site.
  6. Updated. I’m thinking KSWO is next.
  7. Norah O'Donnell is the master controller of the entire CBS network. Who can replace her?
  8. A graphics package definitely won't make a station, but it could make the station so much of an eyesore that the viewers associate the station with bad design. That discourages viewers from tuning in. Just look at WSB, which despite having a perfectly modern product is losing viewers at a faster than average rate.
  9. Any station using Nexstar NBC graphics is going to have their competition cream them. WJCL should've passed WSAV at this point.
  10. I'm also concerned with Nexstar's relation to NBC. It seems like WFLA and WCMH are the only Nexstar stations that seem to be caring about NBC in the slightest bit. They're also well behind their competition in terms of OTT capabilities. These stations do not need NewsNation on them at all. On an unrelated note, I've seen Nexstar leave its largest market stations alone whereas they forcefeed programming on their smaller market stations.
  11. I don't think WCMH (which used a variation of the WFLA graphics) stood up to WBNS very well. Morris copied WCMH to complete their $50 look.
  12. Their Wikipedia pages haven't been updated, but it says both are in widescreen SD. WDSU switched to HD in August of 2020. I don't think WGNO is in HD yet, but feel free to correct me.
  13. That's a retool of their existing package with new fonts. New promo graphics generally don't mean much.
  14. And that's why CBS is doing this. Also in every other market, CBS can create a local news monopoly at this timeslot or create competition against independents/CW affiliates airing local news.
  15. The end of Maury on WJZ? Never thought I'd see that day...
  16. I notice the News Channel Nebraska version is using more "WHDH-esque" fonts. It's already a dated look.
  17. If they were trying to do that, Gray would be doing a non-license assets “reaper strike” rather than going through the trouble of FCC approval. WGCL has a more than adequate signal, so translators are generally not needed.
  18. I strongly disagree. Allen basically lets his stations exist, without putting money in them. Tegna is basically just a bank for its stations, and the stations decide what goes on the air and what doesn’t. My personal fear is that these stations will no longer have the money to keep running, and the cheap*****s at Apollo will just hand it over to dead-end companies like HC2.
  19. Basically just CBS and whoever is running WWL right now, some of whom were there under Belo ownership. By the way, we should definitely have a logo discussion thread.
  20. I like how neither of the “new” logos have the current ABC logo. I know that KSTP switched to the current ABC logo already. But dang, the Gray graphics thread is turning into a logo discussion thread. @24994JWe should have a logo discussion thread.
  21. David Mugar has passed away at 82. This is from the station he once owned.
  22. And it still works fine!
  23. Uh, quick question? LIM4.1 isn't designed to run on VizRT, but the Gray ticker, which only runs on VizRT, is present. What system is WFIE/KGMB using?
  24. That's a nice graphics package! Finally brings America on par with the rest of the world in terms of motion graphics.
  25. That logo doesn't look like it's from 2019. That logo looks like it came out in 2008.
