  1. Given the geography and very high elevation, KABC is one L.A. station that uses Santiago Peak as a location for its weather radar, if I'm not mistaken, as well.
  2. Among all the broadcast network evening newscasts, the "CBS Evening News," along with the other CBS News programs, for that matter, has the most stolid and the least sensationalistic feel to them to me, as well. In some ways, it has reminded me of "PBS NewsHour" for a long time now.
  3. From watching KCAL News for a short while this evening, it appears as if they have given -- and deservedly so -- many of their general assignment reporters a break, as I have seen a parade of out-of-town reporters report from the field tonight. They, along with the other out of town reporters that I have seen on the other local stations in town, have done a fantastic job. Quite a few of them, in fact, appear seasoned enough to report from the No. 2 market full time, in my opinion.
  4. KCAL News (CBS Los Angeles) has coverage as part of its regularly scheduled prime time newscasts right now.
  5. That reporter and some others may care too much with how they appear on camera. I live nearly 30 miles away to the south in Orange County. And, while we are not being impacted as severely as those in L.A. County, I am not taking my chances and am wearing an N95 mask when I'm outdoors for now.
  6. Although Mt. Wilson is most commonly associated with housing many of the TV and radio towers in L.A., important police and fire communications are transmitted from there, as well. That could be catastrophic to the region in the event they are destroyed. Luckily, that doesn't seem to be the case.
  7. As a lifelong resident in the Los Angeles media market, the past 30-plus hours has been some of the best coverage from all L.A. local television stations I've seen ever! Essentially, all local stations have had continous coverage and have bypassed network programming since the morning hours Monday.
  8. Sadly, like the CNN presidential debate between Biden vs. Trump in June, the co-moderators won't be doing any fact checking in the CBS vice presidential debate at all. It is a shame, because Brennan is one of the best interviewers among the Sunday morning political show hosts indeed. More importantly, fact checking in debates, particularly with regard to the upcoming consequential U.S. presidential election, is critically important, in my humble opinion.
  9. True. I may be wrong, but I believe that he was only a freelancer at KTTV so heading to a top 10 media market in Houston where he can now be full time is not too shabby in my opinion.
  10. It means that he and new KTTV chief meteorologist Adam Krueger are basically switching places with each other, as just before he came to Los Angeles, Krueger was formerly the chief metereologist at KIAH in Houston.
  11. I wonder if CNN still has plans for Pamela Brown to anchor her own weekday program, "The Bulletin with Pamela Brown." If so, perhaps her anchoring an edition of the Monday through Friday "Newsroom" is a way for the audience to become accustomed to seeing her on a weekday basis before her program is ready for launch.
  12. Although "Judge Judy" ended in 2021, reruns of her show have stood the test of time in syndication. That's quite amazing! Meanwhile, her Amazon series, "Judy Justice," is now also in syndication, so she is in even more places on broadcast television.
  13. Thanks! I tuned in a few minutes into the show today.
  14. This is an interesting setup for "Inside Politics" on CNN today. It's quite cramped. I am not sure whether or not they are on location at a local CNN affiliate station or that their main set in the Washington bureau is undergoing renovations or something.
  15. Just watched the first few minutes of the new KTLA 7pm newscast this evening. It's co-anchored by Micah Olhman and Cher Calvin on the same side of the studio where the 4pm show is done is well. Seems like a standard 30-minute newscast to me.
