  1. With this, Phoenix is a full-on weather branding-happy market with KPHO (CBS)/KTVK 'First Alert Weather', KNXV (ABC) 'Desert Doppler', & KSAZ (FOX O&O) 'Weather Experts'. Feels a bit more boxey at the top than we're use to with TEGNA (although noticed watching 12News at 10 tonight, they did have the old, generic radar loop mini screen on the bottom right above the station/time/weather/temp bug as scattered monsoon storms were in the area) & kinda interesting seeing the logo used for 12 News, although understand the use of it for space & looks kinda cool with the AZ state logo & the placement of '12 News'. Also, looking at the 7-day & KPNX having Weather Impact Alert days (Quite frankly, any of those days could be one with the heat here), all the stations, except KSAZ, utilize some sort of weather alert day to emphasize bad or in this case very hot weather days ahead.
  2. Meterologist Rob Johnson from sister ABC O&O in Raleigh, NC will be filling in on weather for a few days.
  3. Chuck made the announcement during NBATV's postgame coverage of Game 4 of the NBA Finals. He'll be sorely missed after next season, especially when you see the garbage fire that is the studio show of the main NBA broadcaster ESPN. https://awfulannouncing.com/tnt-sports/charles-barkley-retirement-announcement-next-year.html
  4. French Open to TNT Sports officially official with Max, TBS, & truTV also aboard. https://press.wbd.com/us/media-release/tnt-sports-reaches-expansive-agreement-french-tennis-federation-be-new-home-roland
  5. As WBD continues to contemplate sticking with the NBA under a 4th nat'l TV package, they gain rights for the French Open from NBC & likely Tennis Channel. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/warner-bros-discovery-french-open-us-rights-1236028911/
  6. Julie Haener, after 27 years, will retire from KTVU (FOX San Francisco) on June 20th after 27 years there. https://www.ktvu.com/video/1466060
  7. A day after TEGNA lost preseason rights for the Arizona Cardinals from KPNX (NBC) to Gray's KPHO (CBS) in Phoenix.
  8. Not FanDuel's initial TV presence as there's already FanDuel TV (formerly TVG), a horse racing network interspersed with sports programming, particularly in the weekday morning hours.
  9. TBH, whatever name that was gonna be brought up for the new RSN, there's going to be ppl that'll knock it around because that's the nature of the beast that is social media, although while generic, the name at least labels the purpose of the RSN, it's better than coming up with crazy names like Venu Sports.
  10. Well, it's going to happen come October with the launch of generically-named Chicago Sports Network. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-media/2024/06/03/chicago-sports-network-will-be-new-home-of-white-sox-bulls-blackhawks-beginning-in-october
  11. I could care less about news branding, but maybe WABC in New York felt more like going back to tradition considering their history & decided against ABC network branding. Not the only ones in NYC doing it as WNBC does it opting for "News 4 New York", sister NBC O&O WRC in Washington, DC does the same with "News4". Also notice the websites for the 2 ABC flagships, you'd think abc7.com would be for their main flagship, but it actually goes to KABC in L.A. while it's abc7ny.com for NYC.
  12. And with that, that'll take care of the transition of ABC O&O's to unified news graphics just like the other Big 4 O&O's.
  13. Agree, sure beats the "C Clarity" music that feels less newsy IMO. Bit surprised KPNX didn't use the updated NBC Peacock logo with the white removed considering being in the Phoenix area, seeing promos they air feature the new Peacock alongside the 12News logo.
